A Great Platform for Archival and Sampling

The Ortofon Concorde MkII CLUB delivers first-class sound quality for traditional vinyl playback. Its Special-Elliptic stylus hugs the grooves of your record, extracting every detail with excellent fidelity. Its 8mV output voltage requires less gain from your preamp, supplying you with clean sound reproduction. It's also less susceptible to feedback during live performance. The CLUB's top-shelf sound makes it a great platform for archival and sampling.

What's a stylus and why's it important?

The stylus is the most important part of your turntable, as it's the only part of your cartridge that makes contact with the record. So if you use a subpar stylus, you'll experience subpar sound. A low-quality stylus can also damage your record. After all, it's exerting roughly 6,000 pounds of pressure per square inch! Styli are made of ultra-hard materials to prevent premature wear. The Concorde MkII CLUB, for example, is made from pure diamond. Styli also come in various shapes. A spherical stylus picks up less surface noise than other shapes, but with inferior frequency response, higher distortion, and inferior phase response. An elliptical stylus like the Concorde MkII CLUB delivers superior audio performance but wears down faster than a spherical one. Many of the DJs here at Sweetwater prefer a spherical stylus for heavy back-cueing and scratching, but for high-fidelity listening and archiving, an elliptical is the way to go.

Ortofon Concorde MkII CLUB Features:

  • Delivers first-class sound quality for traditional vinyl playback
  • Special-Elliptic stylus has more contact area with the groove for improved detail and fidelity
  • 8mV output voltage requires less gain from your preamp for clean sound reproduction
  • Resistant to feedback during live performance
  • Outstanding platform for archival and sampling

These are fantastic! The customer service at Sweetwater was top notch too! They called me to let me know the items had shipped, and they explained their warranty to me. Overall, a great shopping experience!
Pristine Sound Quality
I've been a vinyl DJ for 15 years now and i have used a lot of different record needles. My go-to's used to be the Shure M447's because of the clarity. I was bummed when they stopped making them, so i had to come back to Ortofon. However, it turned out that right when that happened, Ortofon came out with this new MK2 line which couldn't have been at a better time. So i went for these ones because i like to play solid vinyl-set's with analog sound of minimal deep tech and house music. These things will definitely do it. let them wear in a few tracks and they sound even better. I am gonna give it a 4.5 Star because these were made at 8Mv volume when they could've made them at at least 9.5Mv.
