Try D’Addario’s Toughest Strings

D’Addario NYXL guitar strings represent an exciting development in string technology. Tough as nails, these strings feature an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire and a reformulated nickel plating on the wrap wire. Of course, NYXL strings are made with the dedication to quality and craftsmanship that Sweetwater guitarists have come to expect from D’Addario. But what does all of that do for you? First, the strings are more flexible, making them a much better alternative for players who abuse the whammy bar. They’re also more stable — case in point, D’Addario reports these strings flaunt a 131% greater tuning stability. Suffice it to say: with these strings on your guitar, you’re free to play without worrying that a broken string will derail your session.

The NYXL Difference

So, what really makes NYXLs so much different than standard D’Addario strings? First, they’re built with an exclusive high-carbon steel core wire for greater durability and a higher tolerance for alternate tunings. The other difference found on NYXL strings is the reformulated nickel-plated wrap wire, which delivers a subtle boost in output between 1kHz and 3.5kHz. With NYXL strings, you get a modernized sound and ferocious durability without sacrificing the easy playability you know and love.

Which string gauge is right for me?

  • Extra Super Light: Super easy to play. Easy to bend. Great for beginners.
  • Super Light: Easy on the fingers. Slightly more volume and projection.
  • Regular Light: Most popular. Ideal balance of playability and versatile tone.
  • Medium: A popular fusion of heftier plain steels and wound strings.
  • Heavy: Hardest to bend. Maximum volume. Often used for drop/altered tunings.

The right tone for everyone

D’Addario believes that every guitar player should have a set of strings that match their sonic needs. That’s why they build strings with a range of construction methods and materials. Whether you want the brightest tone or the mellowest D’Addario has the perfect sound for everyone. Want to learn more? Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer today!

D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

D’Addario NYXL Guitar Strings Features:

  • Advanced nickel-wound guitar strings with outstanding durability
  • Exclusive New York-made high-carbon steel core delivers unrivaled strength and elasticity
  • Wound strings flaunt an improved frequency response in the 1kHz–3.5kHz range
  • Hexagonal steel core wire provides extra stability, greater reliability, and improved intonation
  • Improved tuning stability means you spend less time tuning and more time playing
  • Corrosion-resistant packaging keeps strings fresh in storage
  • Color-coded ball ends make it easy to change and replace strings

Love these!
I've been playing these strings in 10-46 gauge for a while now and they have become my go to strings. I even bought them in the bulk 25 pack. They last a long time with losing their tone and they feel great!

Perfection
Admittedly I am a beginner with the guitar, but I've been trying different strings to see what I like, and these have blown me away. Whether playing clean tones or turning the gain all the way up, these sound amazing. And stay in tune!

Worth it
I've never really cared that much about which brand or type of strings I play, but I bought a guitar that came with NYXLs and since then I've been sold. Yes, they are more expensive but they're super comfortable to play and they'll last longer than your typical Ernie Balls or whatever else. I think theyre definitely worth the extra few bucks and now they're pretty much the only strings I buy.
