Reviews

All is good
I've been playing for 60 some years, I've played a lot of guitars. I always wanted a Fender Jaguar and finally decided to buy one. I was checking out Fender Players, and Custom Shop then I saw the Squier. Usually I go high end but I'm old and never going to play out again so I ordered the Squier and I'm glad I did. I played it right out of the box and it was even nearly in tune. It needed a few minor adjustments for personal preference but that was it. The tone is really good and deeper than my Strat's or Tele's. I even winced when I saw it was made in China but they did a real nice job. It's a real joy to play the shorter neck is easy on these old fingers too.
Music background: Played french horn and trombone in school. Mom got me started with piano lessons and I picked up a guitar in 1965.
I love this guitar!
Squier has really stepped up their game! The finish on this guitar is flawless (I love how the neck back has a matte finish but the headstock face is gloss), and the sound is great. I am shorter than average for a guy, and I have big palms with short fingers (think bear paw), so playing my Squier Affinity Telecaster with it's 25.5" scale length is pretty hard on my left hand. I do okay on my Les Paul Studio, but I bought this guitar looking for an inexpensive way to try out its even shorter 24" scale length. Playing it straight out of the box, before I got it professionally set up, it felt like I'd come home. It's easy on my left hand, and very comfortable in my lap playing with it over either leg (I usually play sitting down). After switching it from the 9s it came with to 10s and having it professionally set up, it sounded fantastic! My guitar instructor, who's been playing for 40 years and performed at the 2002 Winter Olympics with one of his bands, did the setup and he was very impressed with the quality, especially given the price point.
Having spent some time with it now, I can characterize it as sounding like my Telecaster (i.e., twangy single-coil goodness) but without the fatigue and pain in my hand. It doesn't have the full wiring and switch/pot arrangement of a traditional Jaguar, but I'm quite happy with what I got for the price! Now that I know the magic of the Jaguar, my next two guitars are going to be a Jaguar with the full switch/pot arrangement, and a Jaguar HH with twin humbuckers, so I can have the warm humbucker sound with that same comfortable neck and body!
Help
Michael Berry was very nice to deal with. When I had a question he even emailed me after the store was closed. He's my go to person.
