Big Sonic Versatility and a Great Value

Loaded with a Broad'Tron humbucker in the bridge position, and a P-90 soapbar single-coil pickup at the neck, the Gretsch G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club barks with an aggressive midrange and tight, powerful lows. Cleans are clear and chiming — crank up your amp's gain, or kick on a boost pedal, and you're ready to unleash pure rock fury with definitive Gretsch character. And with this solidbody electric guitar's Thin "U" neck profile, 12-inch fretboard radius, and medium-jumbo frets, it offers the precise playability modern players expect. Complete with a compensated wrap-around bridge for maximum sustain and tuning stability, there's a lot to love about the value-packed Gretsch G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club.

A neck designed for effortless playability

Gretsch necks are loved the world over for their exceptional craftsmanship and playability. The G2215-P90's bolt-on, Thin "U" neck is firmly in the wheelhouse of this legendary reputation. The smooth laurel fretboard features 22 medium-jumbo nickel frets that make both chording and lead playing easy on the fingers. Finally, the compensated wrap-around bridge enhances sustain and note definition while offering eminent tuning stability.

These pickups deliver!

If you want classic '50s-era Gretsch tone, the Broad'Tron humbucker in the G2215-P90's bridge position won't let you down. This humbucker generates that traditional Gretsch growl and grit, and delivers pristine clean tone when desired. It's a fantastic match for the P-90 soapbar pickup in the neck position, beloved by players at Sweetwater for its combination of single-coil clarity and humbucker-like girth.

Updated Review…

I bought the Gretsch G2215-P90 back in August 2022 and it's now May 2023. If Sweetwater can merge this and my last review that would be great but I have an update. After months of playing this $, it's become one of my absolute favorites. The P90 sounds absolutely amazing! Clears to roaring, the tone is fantastic. The playability is better than my Made in USA Strat. It's basic and inexpensive but a fantastic value. People I play with all comment on the sound, looks and playability. I have a hard time getting the guitar back in my hands.

If you are looking for a low cost guitar that sounds and plays great, this is a great option. I mentioned in my last review that I would get a Jet G5220 instead but I do have both and after some time playing both, I like the G2215-P90 better. Don't let the price fool you, this is a fun, great sounding guitar at a price that makes buying the matching Gretsch case an easy add on.

Great guitar…for the price.

I watched and read a lot of reviews before adding this guitar to my small Gretsch collection. I own a red G5420T and a G5220 Electromatic Jet in jade green. I thought the G2215 with P90 would round my collection out and it does. The Bridge pickup is all twangy Gretsch but the P90 adds something different, blend the two together and the sound is pure magic. I think I might as well just glue the pick up switch into the middle position.

Now, this is a budget guitar with real budget build issues. First, mine had three glue drops on the fretboard. I got them off when I set up my guitar but…budget. Second, there is shielding paint and some kind of silver foil on the cavity caps but it did nothing to tame the amazing buzzing. This this sets buzzing records. Once I covered each cavity and cap with copper foil tape, the buzzing became very minimal. Next, look at my attached imaged of the caps and notice the sanding scratches. Pretty sloppy. The volume is a real volume, unlike my more expensive G5220 which has a volume knob that is more like an on off switch. The pick up switch feels cheap and there is only one tone knob (not a problem). Lastly…NO GRETSCH STRAP LOCKS! What? Really? Just plain buttons. That…that…is bad. Those strap locks are one of the things that make a Gretsch a Gretsch. Come on Gretsch. Very disappointing.

Playability is great. The neck is comfortable and the guitar can be set up with nice, low action without buzzing. Overall, "It's budget but I love it." The G5220 Jet blows it away in quality and sound but does not cost much more money. I found mine on sale but even at full price the Jet is the better bet.

Am I glad that I bought the G2215? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes, but I would say, save up your money and get an Electomatic Jet. It's so much better for just a bit more cash. If this is your budget and you want a solid body Gretsch, this will make you happy but you will need to put a bit or work into it to get the most out of it.
Cheers.

I bought the demo and WOW.

Well bought the demo. They said it had some fine scratches. Well these old eyes could not see them. It looked great. I got her for a great price and a 55 point check. She plays great and those pick ups sound great. As ya can see. I use the word great about Sweetwater. Patrick and his team do Me right. So buy from Sweetwater. They treat ya right

Great Guitar!

Guitar arrived, great packaging and was in need of minor set up. Action was to high and would pull guitar out of tune when fretting a f barre chord. Minor truss rod adjustment and lowered the bridge. Intonation is very good with the compensated wrap around bridge. I would consider changing it out someday for an adjustable wrap around bridge but is working fine out of the box. Neck is so nice and frets are polished and smooth. I love the pickups, yes even the bridge pickup I raised the humbucker up to match the output closer to the volume of the p90 and I'm very happy with the tones of this guitar. Love the scale length and string gauge. Nut and tuning stability has been great. Gretsch really hit a home run with this model. I would definitely recommend buying this guitar. Tons of Tone and just plain fun! Buy it! Sweet water is great.
