Pro Quality Excellent Price

By Stew W. from Michigan
Music Background: 45 years full and part - time musician.

I am more than pleased with all the features of this 12 string. The finish, fretboard, and headstock are of a quality that I would expect from Gibson. Great tone through my Vox or Fender Acousticsonic. As good as any 12 string I have ever purchased in the last 45 years. My thanks to the folks in Quebec.

perfect 12 string

By CRAIG H. from South Lyon, MI
Music Background: GUITAR 40 YEARS

About 8 years ago I needed to replace my 6 string fender acoustic. I went to guitar center in plymouth, michigan and played a fender, martin, seagull also others. I went with the fender exotic wood. but I always wished I bought the seagull, it sounded so great and easy to play. now I needed a 12 string to complete my collection.looked at washburn, takamine, taylor, fender and seagull, and you guessed it,I went with the seagull. sooooo glad I did ,awesome guitar looks like a piece of art sounds awesome and I LOVE THAT ITS MADE IN CANADA. with their wood. watch there tutorial on how well its built. SWEETWATER IS AWESOME I GOT THE SET UP... LOW ACTION,PERFECT SET UP. I also got the last one, there on back order, but when they come back in stock GET ONE YOU WON'T BE SORRY. I WILL BE DOING ALL MY PURCHASING FROM SWEETWATER FROM NOW ON.

Nice guitar

By Sweetwater Customer

First off I purchased a demo model at a reduced price so I wasn't surprised that a couple of strings broke on its first tuning to E flat. Not a problem though as the first place it went was in for a setup. The action out of the box was definitely way too high even for a 12 string and was actually uncomfortable to play. Now it has better action than my 6 string and with a new set of Elixir Nano lights it plays and sounds incredible -especially plugged in. Another great Sweetwater purchase !

This Guitar is Amazing!

By rodmc7 from Asheville, North Carolina

With the compact headstock and concert hall body, this guitar appears quite petite. The bottom end is not what you'd get with a jumbo or a dreadnaught – no one should expect it to be – but I think the tone works really well for a 12-string. It has more shimmer than any I've played. It's so crisp, in fact, that a capo allows you to get some serious mandolin tones. Cowboy chords on the first frets still sound rich and full. The body size is comfortable, the finish is flawless, and the sound is just stunning! Setup was great right out of the box.

Seagulls underrated

By Paul S. from Cranberry, PA

I have had the seagull 12 string for almost a year. I like to wait on the review until I have had it broken in. First off I have had many seagull guitars. First guitar was the Entourage qt. And I just bought the seagull mandolin s8 special order. Very excited. Back to the 12 string it is extremely well built. Quality of the wood is amazing as seagull prides the own the forest in Quebec

This guitar makes me think of chimes - natural harmonics and sustain for days

By MarieMar from N GA Mtns

I had to wait more than two months for this guitar because it was on backorder but now that it’s in my hands I know it was most definitely worth the wait. Clean and balanced sound. Love love love! Sales Engineer Drew Owens is top notch.

Did not disappoint...

By Steve from Apple Valley Ca
Music Background: 50 years of playing, 30 of that in bands, now retired

I purchased this to replace my old worn out 1978 MIJ epiphone dreadnaught 12 string. I wore the frets and fretboard beyond its lifetime and didn't really want to invest hundreds of dollars reviving it. So I bought the S12. Fit, form, function, and finish... This guitar has it all. What a beauty. No need to buy Asian imports when you can get a north American guitar at a reasonable price like this. This guitar is ready to play right out of the box. The tuners are way better then the grovers on one of my other more expensive guitars. Tuners tuned right up with such ease and held it in tune very well while playing. The tone is sweet and mellow with good volume and projection acoustically as well as plugged in. The neck feels like it was made for my hand to be married to it. And I have small hands, no pun intended. The action is low yet I cannot get a buzz out of it anywhere on the fretboard. Its perfect. Nice big frets. Sits well in my arms, ergonomics are there. I give this guitar my highest praise. The only one thing I noticed was I felt that the outside edge of the fret wire could have been milled and polished a few strokes more making it more flush with the fretboard and neck and smoother on the hand. The HSC is of top shelf quality. This is a player and a keeper for sure.. I liked it so much that a few weeks later I purchased the six string performer model to keep it company!

Great Quality Guitar.

By Sweetwater Customer from Indiana
Music Background: Advanced novice.

I think this is probably the highest quality mid-range 12-string that you will find. The neck is not too wide, felling more like a six-string than a 12-string. When I compared this guitar to others, the width of the neck was a big factor, ousting Guild, Gretsch, and Martin. The action is low, I really like the built-in tuner, and the cutaway. I also appreciate the small body of the guitar, its comfortable to play, but it doesn't compromise tone or volume. Also, the neck has a natural finish which is important to me, as opposed to a heavily lacquered neck, which is uncomfortable to play in my opinion. Overall the features, design, and craftsmanship is equal to quality you would see in much more expensive guitars. Received great service from Sweetwater. My only con is that the battery is located inside of the body, beside the tuner. But that is really just something to get used to. Overall, an excellent guitar.

SOUNDS AMAZING

By Tony W. from Phoenix
Music Background: Just playing

I wanted a 12 string that isn't all jingly jangly and had a little bass to it. I researched online and played several in the local stores. Anything that had a full spectrum of sounds also had a huge price tag. All the "affordable" ones was all sparkly high sounding. I have a 1976 Ovation that has that sound. I decided to take a chance on this one. I honestly had never played a Seagull guitar as I just didn't like the headstock appearance. And I was not sure of the Concert Hall body size also. But after going thru with it and getting it, I am VERY impressed. The body is slightly more shallow and the waist is smaller. But it is very comfortable to play and not like a small guitar that I expected. It fits in a regular dreadnaught case but not perfectly. Only small gaps here and there so it is closer to a dreadnaught than I expected. It sounds incredible and is very easy to play for a 12 string. The only negative to me is that the battery is located inside the sound hole. I HATE THAT!!!! Sweetwater was and is VERY customer oriented with tremendous service. Chris called me right away about a backordered item and replied very promptly to my emails. Very professional and courteous in all cases. And the guitar is way more than I expected. The action is very low with no buzz anywhere and plays like a dream. Just SO sweet!!!!!

Excellent 12 string guitar

By Norman J. from Michigan
Music Background: Christian Worship

I have been looking for a 12 string guitar to add to my equipment. I've looked at many 12 string guitars at the whole gamut of price ranges. I had a seagull 12 string guitar in the past and really liked it. This new coastline spruce top guitar has a great feel, string action on the neck and not bulky like others' I've tried. I think it is a lot of guitar quality for the price range. I have no qualms taking this guitar on stage. In my mind, this guitar hangs with the best of guitar brands at a much lower cost. Seagull great job!!!... on this work horse guitar.

lost for words

By lui from GA
Music Background: love to play

...The guitar is out of this world and equal to anything costing a heck of a lot more. I played it next to a Martin 12 string costing over $3000 dollars. Better action better sound much easier to play and lighter in weight.
This is a pleasure to play and no strain on the hand. Seagull you have another dedicated customer. Great job please dont change.

Seagull 12 string

By Lynne from Cheshire, Ct.
Music Background: Amateur

I received this beautiful guitar in 3 days. The sound rings out when strummed and stays in tune once the new strings stretched out. The finish is smooth and the neck is very comfortable with easy action, it stays in tune up and down the neck and with a capo it needs no adjustments. I am very pleased and have been learning new songs like crazy! I highly recommend this 12 string.

Sonic satin! Trebly jingle- jangle, ethereal resonance with gorgeous sustained decay. The neck is sooo comfortable in the hand its unreal! Don't think you can get better sound or feel in guitars that sell for FAR more and I tried a lot of them!!
Disclaimer: I did have the action lowered...

How Seagulls Fly !

By Ken from The Villages Florida
Music Background: 45 years playing all genres and several type guitars both plectrum and finger style.

12 String Seagull Coastline. Firstly let me say how impressed I was with the shipment and packing ensuring everything arrived in absolute perfect condition.
Now to the 12 string guitar. The quality of finish is superb and cannot be faulted. As for playability, the
coastline has a beautiful ringing tone and the action could not be easier with barre chording not a problem all the way up the fret board. Excellent spacing on the strings so finger style picking comes out nice and clean and I found no difference to a 6 string other than a much richer and fuller sound.
Great little in built tuner which makes life easier although I have only had to use it once in 5 days. The Seagull Coastline stays in tune ! No more to say other than go for it.
One small niggle - no battery change information on the preamp/tuner. Awaiting response from Seagull.

Outstanding

By Eric W. from Elizabethtown, PA
Music Background: 25+ years of playing experience

I took a long time to pick an acoustic I really wanted, and I finally settled on this Seagull guitar.

One of my friends sets up guitars for me, and he recently did three of them, but honestly, this guitar played so well out of the box I cannot believe it. The size is extremely comfortable to play, and the action was out-freaking-standing right out of the box.

This is the second instrument I got from Sweetwater, and I am completely satisfied with my purchases. I love the sound of this guitar, and I know it will be a valued member of the family for years to come.

It is a relatively lightweight acoustic 12-string, so it does nosedive a bit. The headstock seems heavy, which is completely reasonable. Everything about the build is outstanding, and well-constructed. The electronics are nice.

Very Nice Guitar!

By Jacky G. from Madison MS

I received this small body Seagull 12-string from Sweetwater a couple of days ago. This is the first Seagull I've played for any length of time. I've played it quite a bit in the last 2 days and here is what I think:

- Absolutely beautiful guitar. The sunburst finish is flawless and awesome. Wow factor: 5 out of 5.
- Great sound. The tone is superb in my book. It's articulate and actually pretty loud (competes with a traditional dreadnaught size). I absolutely love how it sounds. Its sounds full strumming and great finger picking and flat picking individual notes.
- Perfect action. I didn't have to make any changes at all to the action. Perfect for my playing style right out of the box. You can strum pretty hard and not get buzz. To me, it's a perfect setup and easy on the fingers. Although the nut width is pretty wide, I have no issues with bar chords or anything else (and I have small hands).
- Overall quality. I don't know how you could improve on the quality of this guitar.

My favorite thing about this guitar is the size. The concert hall size is perfect for my use. I can sit in my recliner leaned back and play very comfortably. I can't do that so well with a full dreadnaught.

I would definitely recommend this guitar! Great buy from two great companies: Sweetwater and Seagull. Thanks Darius Beatz for sending the original photos of the guitar!
