Perfect for Acoustic Performers

What began as a pet project for company founder Bob Taylor has come full circle. The Circa 74 marks Taylor’s first acoustic amplifier — and boy, it is a heavy hitter! This 150-watt, 2-channel combo is utterly different from any other amp on today’s market. First and foremost, its cabinet is built entirely from mahogany for greater warmth. The 10-inch full-range speaker is voiced to deliver the clarity and treble extension needed to accommodate any combination of guitars and singers without harshness. Each channel includes an independent 3-band EQ and reverb control to dial up a superb sound quickly. Finally, the Circa 74 arrives with a custom stand for performing. Performers looking for a new favorite acoustic guitar and vocal amplifier will fall in love with Taylor’s Circa 74.

Beautifully simple design

Some acoustic guitar amps are plagued by harsh, overly exaggerated treble. Sweetwater guitarists were relieved to discover that the Circa 74 solves this issue. Bob Taylor and his team intentionally dialed back the high end on this amp so that it produces nothing but smooth, warm, and inviting tones in both channels. Speaking of channels, each one includes an independent level control, 3-band EQ, and its own reverb. With these simple controls, any musician can quickly and easily dial in an ear-grabbing, pleasing sound.

Compatible with any pickup and microphone design

Taylor really hit it out of the park on their first amplifier design. The company put the Circa 74 through its paces by testing it with all manner of acoustic guitars and microphones before releasing the amp to the public. In fact, Taylor’s testing was so thorough that the company developed helpful presets for pickup systems, such as the Taylor Expression System and those from other companies, including Fishman, LR Baggs, and K&K. They even did the same for major mic manufacturers like Shure, Electro-Voice, and Telefunken. Whatever guitar, pickup, or microphone you use, the Circa 74 makes it sound amazing.

Includes a sturdy custom stand

A guitar amp of this caliber deserves more than living life on the floor. Taylor knows this, too. That’s why they developed a custom stand specifically for this amp. Like the cabinet, the stand is made from mahogany. The angled design aims the sound at your audience’s ears, drastically increasing clarity. Worried about your amp sliding off the stand? Don’t be. Taylor includes routed footholds to securely hold your new amp in place.

Circa 74

This amp is an awesome addition to my studio. Acoustic tones are great and very musical. Plenty of power to keep up with the band for rehearsals. Been playing my Taylor 312 Nylon and 175 Archtop thru it and it sounds great. Craftsmanship is really good and the stand is a great perk, sturdy and aesthetically a perfect fit.

Taylor -Acoustic Amp - Circa74

Just picked one up yesterday at Sweetwater, Love this amp, sounds great and looks amazing. Kudos to my sales guy Greg Baum, and of course Don Carr for masking such an informative video on this amp. Looking forward to gigging with it soon, for now it sits idle with my Taylor Guitars. (Check out photo) I graduated from high school 1974 and my dog is named Taylor. Thank You Taylor & Sweetwater!!

Outstanding amp

I have been waiting a while for Taylor to come out with an amp, and it was so worth the wait!!

Works Well With Others

I have a Taylor 310ce when they first came out. I replaced the Fishman with a Baggs pickup system when LR Baggs first came out with the lyric. The Taylor sounds great with the Circa 74. I also have a Gibson CEC, and it also sounds great. I like the approach the amp has. A good reverb, that works well with your pedal board, and different pickups. This is a great amp, that does not weigh much, and has a great warm sound, but at 150 watts, it still works on stage if you need it. The only suggestion have for Taylor, is to have a bank of presets to store your sound when changing guitars with different pickup systems installed. This would make an easier transition.

Taylor Circa 74

Just arrived on my door step and is everything that I hoped for as a great solution for small format gigs.

It is lovely sounding and looking. Love it.

But.... There is no cover available for this amp from Taylor and it makes me wonder if the fine folks that built this product ever play out anymore. How could I pack this in my car/van and not get it beat up on day one.

They completely forgot that most of us still need to transport this amp and stand and use it in real life.

I would suggest for the home player but not for those of us that are out there working 2-3 gigs a week as it will soon be so beat up that we would wonder why we invested in such a fine peeve of furniture.

C'mon Taylor - You must have thought of this right?
