Legendary AKG Sound

The AKG C214 is the younger brother of AKG's legendary C414 condenser — similar to the 414's legendary sound, but at an entry-level price. The C214 captures sound by combining one capsule of the legendary C414 dual-capsule system and the patented AKG Back-Plate Technology, yielding an outstanding performance close to the famous C414. The result? Highly detailed, up-front sound on both voices and instruments with an overall performance close to that of the famous C414 B-XLS. Now you can get that epic AKG sound on any budget with the new C214!

A versatile addition to any mic locker

Incredible dynamic range

The AKG C214 delivers AKG's classic large-diaphragm sound — and it's also capable of an impressive 143dB dynamic range for uncompressed, natural transients.

Use it on a variety of sources

If you want a premium vocal mic, you've found it with the AKG C214. And while it's well worth the investment for that quality alone, you'll find that the C214 performs just as well on a variety of instruments. Thanks to its switchable 20dB attenuation pad and low-cut filter, the C214 can be used in sound fields as high as 156dB SPL — you can use it onstage for close miking loud applications such as drum overheads, guitar amps, or high-output brass. Whatever your needs, the C214 is an excellent mic to have on your side.

Quality AKG Construction

AKG mics are engineered from the ground up to truly perform. The C214 features an integrated capsule suspension that reduces mechanical noise and resonances for even greater sonic accuracy. Plus, the double mesh, all-metal grille protects the capsule and ensures high RF immunity without affecting the mic's acoustical performance. This is one roadworthy mic, too — the C214 features a modern scratch-resistant finish, dent-resistant metal grille, and gold-plated XLR output.

Excellent mic
I purchased this mic to lay vocals and it is excellent! Best purchase ever and is worth the investment, if it's your first mic! Worth every penny!

AKG C214 Large-diaphragm Condenser Microphone
Wow what an upgrade from my "traditional' handheld mics. Wish I had bought this sooner. I can't imagine how the more expensive AKGs sound. Should have bought the 2 mic deal from Sweetwater.

Excellent rear sound rejection, great sound
I have only used this mic for recording saxophones so far. The rear unwanted sound rejection is excellent.
The recorded sound is rich and full.

Fantastic Condenser
This is a fantastic condenser microphone. What stands out to me is the build quality, low noise floor, and the full but crisp character of sound. So far I've done voice over, lead vocal, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cab, and bass guitar cab. My goodness, the lead vocal take sounded wonderful. I retook the lead vocal take for a current project I'm engineering on, and I had to pan the guitars further out because the vocal take sounded so open and natural in the center.

Also, eqing this mic on the way into my Apollo was interesting. Normally, I find myself boosting other mics to sound warmer or have more detail. With this mic, I left it as is in the mid and high frequencies. It captures these frequencies in a pleasing and detailed way that I preferred leaving the eq alone in this regard. I ended up using a little LA2A style compression, high-pass filter 50Hz, small cut at 400 Hz, and Manley Voxbox de-esser, ooooooo yeah there it is. This mic gets my highest recommendation. I'm buying another one for stereo recording.

I really like this one...
I've been recording in my home studio for 5~6 years and own six mics, large and small diaphragm. This one gets the most use. Rich, warm and articulate I use it on guitar cabinets and for acoustic guitars. It serves so well that I have no need to look for another mic! Can't say about it's performance on vocals but I can't imagine it wouldn't be great.
