Affordable Low-frequency Monitoring Accuracy from Genelec

Extend the low end of your monitoring system with the Genelec 7050C powered subwoofer. This compact sub gets you tightly down to 24Hz (-6dB), while its innovative Laminar Spiral Enclosure yields outstanding bass articulation and enhanced low-frequency capacity. An optimized 130-watt Class D amplifier, active crossover, and room response controls further solidify the sonic precision of the 7050C. You also save energy, by virtue of Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing power management feature. An ideal companion for your 8010, 8020, 8030 or M030 monitors, the Genelec 7050C active subwoofer is an excellent way to achieve accurate full-bandwidth monitoring in your studio.

Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) delivers smooth, controlled bass

Developed by Genelec's award-winning R & D team in Finland, the 7050C active subwoofer's radically innovative Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) design dramatically alters how high-level, low-frequency acoustic energy is delivered to any critical listening space. The result of LSE technology is the elimination of port turbulence-caused acoustic non-linearities, which means a smooth-sounding flow of low-frequency energy from the 7050C's rigid tuned enclosure.

Remarkable response from 8" LF driver

The 7050C active subwoofer features a muscular 8" LF driver loaded into a Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) for optimal low-frequency response. Its free-field frequency response is 24Hz to 85Hz (-6dB). With 103dB of SPL handling, the 7050C delivers 0 watts of undistorted low end via a powerful Genelec-designed Class D amplifier. At Sweetwater, we've combined the 7050C with a pair of 8010 or 8020 studio monitors for a full bandwidth system with genuine Genelec quality.

ISS Power Management saves precious energy

Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) feature automatically switches the active 7050C to standby, reducing power consumption to less than half a watt when no audio signal has been detected for awhile. When it receives an audio signal again, the loudspeaker turns back on. Fully compliant with the latest EU requirements and the ErP 2013 directive for electronic devices, ISS is good for the environment and will save you money on your studio electricity bill. It's a win-win proposition!

Genelec 7050C Powered Studio Subwoofer Features:

  • 24Hz–85Hz frequency response; 103dB max SPL
  • Performance-optimized 130W amplifier
  • Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) yields outstanding bass articulation
  • Room response controls tailor the frequency response to your room
  • Built-in bass management system routes multichannel low-frequency content
  • Protection circuitry prevents driver failure caused by excessive levels
  • Intelligent Signal Sensing feature (ISS) saves energy

Reviews

Amazing in large & small studios!
I'm a film composer and sound design engineer and this thing is the MVP of my studio! I have a 5.1 surround sound studio setup with the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and 5 Adam Audio T5V and this sub paired with the clean sound of Adam Audio has been a game changer for me. It's the perfect size and leaves me plenty of feet space. I HIGHLY recommend this if you are mixing in surround sound.

Great sub for Genelec systems
I've used this sub in several Genelec systems at this point. It has a slight low end tilt, so the sub bass is (by default) more pronounced than the higher end of this sub. It's a "low and warm" feeling sub out of the box. That being said, it's not without its punch. Genelec gives you enough control over the feel of this sub with the dip switches to change the response if you wish.

Out of the box it pairs perfectly with most of the 80 series from Genelec. I saw another review mentioning a dip at 85hz, but this is most likely a phase issue with their setup. With proper alignment and phase control, this is easily avoided. I can wholeheartedly recommend this sub.

Good for small rooms
Bought and returned due to lack of power for my size room. Seems like a quality sound but something strange was also happening at the crossover frequency where I got a big dip at 85hz. Would prob save up for the nicer Genelec stuff next time. Replaced this with the Focal sub and excited to receive it
