Rickenbacker Solidbody

The Rickenbacker 620 electric guitar offers you the unmistakable jangle of a great Ricky with the performance of a great solidbody. The 620 was first released in the 1950s to offer budding rock 'n' rollers a great instrument to play. It has since been seen in the hands of such guitar luminaries as Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The 620's all-maple construction and Hi-gain single-coil pickups deliver the legendary tone that goes hand in hand with the Rickenbacker name. And the 620 even boasts the famed Rick-O-Sound stereo output for expanded sonic possibilities.

An iconic solidbody

With the "Frying Pan" lap steel, Rickenbacker may have been the first electric guitar company with a solidbody model on the market. But with the advent of rock 'n' roll came this 620 solidbody electric guitar. The 620's "Cresting Wave" body style was a hit with many guitarists of the time, and demand for the guitar hasn't diminished since that time. Guitarists at Sweetwater are thrilled to be able to offer you the same guitars that were seen in the hands of some of the biggest names in music history.

All-maple construction

Everything but the fretboard of the Rickenbacker 620 solidbody electric guitar is built from high-grade maple. Maple is chosen for its dense nature that adds sustain and top-end clarity to the tone. It is also very stable, aiding in maintaining the structural integrity of the 620's neck. The rosewood fretboard adds a touch of warmth and harmonic richness to the otherwise bright instrument, and the triangular pearloid inlays look wonderful against its chocolaty hues.

Powerful electronics

The heart and soul of all Rickenbackers is the company's proprietary electronics. In the 620 electric guitar, you'll find a pair of Rickenbacker Hi-gain single-coil pickups that deliver the stringiness of many other single-coils but with an aggressive cut that brings out the full jangle and chime that has driven so many rhythm and lead guitar tracks through the decades. A 5-knob control layout lets you blend the two pickups to your ideal levels. Rickenbacker also spec'd the 620 with two output jacks. The first is a standard mono output. The second is a stereo Rick-O-Sound output, which outputs both pickups as a seperate signal. Just think about the possibilities! You can feed your 360's neck pickup into a clean American tweed for bass definition, then out your bridge pickup to an overdriven British stack for raucous tube grit. This option is also great for studio performers. By sending one signal to two sources, you can get an instant stereo track with only one performance.

Rickenbacker 620 Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Legendary solidbody electric guitar
  • All-maple construction adds high-end clarity to the tone
  • 2 single-coil Hi-gain pickups
  • Iconic triangular pearloid fretboard inlay
  • Stereo Rick-O-Sound output lets you route each pickup individually

  • High-quality Schaller tuners

Reviews

My best guitar purchase.
I love this guitar. It is super easy to play. It sounds great and is very well balanced. I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking for an easy playing, great sounding, versatile guitar. Working with Sweetwater's Dave Hoffman made the experience of buying this guitar near perfect, (unfortunately, weather and FedEx's ineptitude were involved in the shipment of the guitar.) You know you want on, JUST DO IT!
Love it
Beautiful and so much fun to play . Photos of the guitar does not do it justice , you have to see it in person.Sound terrific with any amp or effect .
It's the only guitar I every owned that holds the criteria of the perfect all around guitar .
Presently I'm playing this guitar exclusively, something I've never done before .
Awesome guitar
I've had this for about 6 months now and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Feels great, looks great, plays great, sounds great - I highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting a solid body guitar. Neck through design makes for great sustain and articulation.

Awesome!
I've owned a number of Rickenbackers over the years with many purchased from Sweetwater. Many were used in a British Invasion group called Union Jack. I am currently in a classic/modern country band called Cooler By The Creek. Saw a video of Dwight Yokum (we do several of his songs) and he was playing a Rickenbacker 620 Fireflo. I'm a Tele nut so it really makes sense. Brendan Murphy gave me a really good deal on this 620 Fireglo and is now my main country guitar! I love the balance, playability, and different tones I can get from it. Really like the slim neck and the low action the dual truss rods help create. (I'm a certified guitar tech) Usually I upgrade a guitar when I get it but not this one! It's perfect the way it is! Added a John Lennon Python Strap also purchased from Sweetwater that is the perfect final touch. I've been a dedicated customer for so long I remember looking at acoustic guitars in Chuck's kitchen! The electrics were in his living room! A small warehouse was nearby. I am not just reviewing the guitar, but also Sweetwater. Over all the years I have never had a problem with Customer Service. If I wasn't happy with the sound of a guitar or pedal, I could easily return or exchange it. No questions asked! Also Brendan helps me decide on sound system upgrades and any other questions I might have. Can't heap enough praise on Brendan Murphy and Sweetwater. Friends for life!

Different vibes
I have LPs, Strats, Teles, each for a different purpose during gigs. Got a 620 Fireglo. Swapped out the R bridge for the original Campbell bridge. Like it more. Also playing with the Ric o sound with split cable through two amps. Amazing. Run it thru a Vox ac 30 and you get that jangle, everything from British Invasion to Petty.
Music background: Gigging lead guitarist for classic rock
