Social Media
Social media messages from an account impersonating Sweetwater asking for credit card information:
We’ll never ask you for credit card information through social media! If you win a giveaway, you will be notified directly via email, or a message from an official Sweetwater social media account.
Links to Websites
Links to websites that look like they are from Sweetwater but are NOT https://www.sweetwater.com:
We'll never send emails with links to an IP address (string of numbers), such as http://123.456.789.123/sweetwater.com/. If a link takes you to a site that is not a legitimate Sweetwater.com address, then it is likely fraud.
Order Confirmations
Order confirmations for an item you don’t remember purchasing:
Go to Order History to see if an order matches the details you received. If it doesn't match an order in your Order History, the message isn't from Sweetwater.
Requests to Update Payment Information
Requests to update payment information that is not linked to a Sweetwater order:
Go to Your Orders. If you aren't prompted to update your payment method on that screen, the message isn't from Sweetwater.
Requests to Verify Your Account
Requests to log in or verify your Sweetwater account and password:
Go to My Account. If you aren't prompted to update your password, the message isn't from Sweetwater.
Suspicious Emails
Emails from senders with domains other than “@sweetwater.com” or “@e.sweetwater.com”.
Legitimate Sweetwater emails will always be sent from “@sweetwater.com” or “@e.sweetwater.com”. For example, John_Doe@sweetwater.com or yourfriends@e.sweetwater.com.
Tips for Spotting Scams
Be wary of any message that feels unusual, too good to be true, or requests you share sensitive information. Trust your instincts!
If you have any questions about a message you received, feel free to reach out to your Sales Engineer directly or you can contact us here.
