Mid-'60s Soapbar Tone — Minus the Hum

Mojotone '56 Quiet Coil P-90 pickups have been engineered to bring back all the huge highs and breathy clarity of those iconic mid-1950s pickups — with none of the 60-cycles hum! But Mojotone has done it without the PC boards, batteries, or other electronic add-ons normally employed to cancel hum. They used only the parts and materials found in the originals: lower output alnico magnets, adjustable pole pieces, spec 42-gauge coil wire, and all the rest. The result is pure P-90 tone, as authentic as possible, with the addition of hum-free performance in any switch position. Guitarists at Sweetwater also love the fact that no routing mod's are required to get the classic high-volume grind and rolled-off clean tones of the mid-1950s P-90 pickups — with no hum!

Note: '56 Quiet Coil P-90s require 500K pots for best performance. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for more information.

Mojotone '56 Quiet Coil P-90 Pickup Set:

  • Vintage 1956 P-90 sounds without the annoying, interfering hum
  • Built with the same materials and parts as the vintage pickups to re-create their sound
  • Scatterwound coils help provide the tone, sensitive response, and clear midrange of the originals
  • No routing mods necessary
  • Requires 500K pots for best performance

Reviews

Mojo Tone Quiet P90's
I already had one of these great pickups in its single version. To have that wonderful two P90's sweet growl in a Jazzmaster style guitar is awesome.
I have had a lot of P90's over the years, but these noiseless pickups are now the only ones I use.
Clarity, growl and good looks, Mojo Tone is the P90 Champ!
Music background: Pro Musican for years.
They're quiet!
I dropped these in my Eastwood Sidejack Baritone guitar, and they fixed the microphonic squealing I was getting from the stock pickups. These are expensive, but you have to invest in yourself to get the outcomes you want.
Music background: Band leader for 10 years
Wow
I don't normally write reviews, and I also don't often change out pickups, but the hum from my Epiphone Les Paul Special was intolerable. I wasn't familiar with Mojo Tone, but good reviews an Sweetwater's return policy persuaded me to take a chance.

These thing are amazing, I was prepared to sacrifice some sparkle for reduced noise.....surprise surprise I'm hearing even more upper to mid high end, amazing dynamics and some serious sustain. Like P90's on steroids !

Highly recommended !
The P-90 sound, with no hum!
I feel like the P-90s in most production guitars sound too modern, too hot and lacking that cutting midrange and sensitivity great p90s have.
I bought a 2020 Epiphone SG Special that was especially suffering in the pickup department. I have the Broadcaster Quiet Coils and love them so I immediately thought of getting some of the p90s for this guitar. Do these pickups cost 2/3 the cost of that guitar? Yes. Do they make it sound twice as good? Far more than that, honestly.

These are an upgrade over any stock p90, import or otherwise. I'd immediately put these in a Gibson or other premium guitar since they cancel that annoying hum and have that vintage-hot vibe. I was also interested in the hot version of these but the regular is plenty hot for me. The bridge volume balances with the neck perfectly too, another problem I find almost every stock p90 set suffers from.

For playing doomy, Iommi riffs or open, clear Townshend chords I couldn't be happier. Plus since they're noiseless you can plug into a fuzz pedal without the total hum-pocalypse. I recommend Mojotone pickups to everyone looking to add more character and retro vibe to their rig, they know how to capture the sounds of the past with a dash of new functionality and performance. I have the strat and tele quiet coils too, Mojotone's selection is seriously impressive and available at a great price.
Oh, My God!!
I purchased these to replace the sub-par P-90 Pro pickups in my 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Special TV Yellow. To say that I am impressed is a HUGE understatement! I've never heard such wonderful sounding P90s; These sound even better than the P90 Dogear on my 1960 Gibson Les Paul Junior. The balance and clarity, even with pretty high gain, is unbelievable! These pickups clean up wonderfully when you roll down the volume knob on the guitar. Where I am most impressed, even surprised, are the picking volume dynamics! My gosh, even with moderately high gain; pick softly and they really clean up; play hard and they ROAR to life!! Did I mention, to top it off; No 60 cycle hum!! I really feel these pickups will improve my playing immensely; as I now can hear exactly what and how I'm playing. I'll really be able to work on and improve my picking. Thank you Sweetwater and Mojotone!!
