Stereo DI for DJs and Electronic Musicians

The stereo Samson MCD2 Pro is a clean solution for mobile DJs and electronic musicians who need to get their signal into a sound system. It includes stereo RCA ins for a turntable, a stereo 1/8" input for a phone or laptop, and dual 1/4" inputs for instruments or a keyboard. The MCD2 Pro's -12dB attenuator switch easily accommodates both balanced and unbalanced signals. And Samson's custom STLX transformers have the far-reaching low end (down to 18Hz) to reproduce rich synth pads and fat breakbeats in powerful detail with super-low distortion, each with a Mu-metal shielding to protect against hum and RFI onstage.

Custom STLX shielded transformers are rich, dynamic, and quiet

The transformer is where the rubber meets the road in a passive DI box. And fortunately, Samson's custom STLX transformers deliver in the MCD2 Pro. The STLX covers the full audible spectrum and beyond, able to capture the subharmonic richness of a synth and high-end detail of a 48kHz recording and deliver it noise-free to your mixing board or interface thanks to a Mu-metal shielding.

Steel chassis is built for the road

The Samson MCD2 Pro's 14-gauge steel housing resists noise and stage abuse to keep your events running smooth night after night. Sweetwater knows sound professionals can expect years of performance from their Samson MCD2 Pro.

Reviews

Built like a tank
This thing is SOLID. As soon as I picked it up you could tell it's well built. Works fantastic too!
Two transformers
It"s not very clear in the product marketing, but this thing has two transformers, that means an individual transformer per each channel. Most stereo boxes will give you only one or even zero transformers, so this Samson box is of the highest standard, you can"t hope for a better configuration than that.

This is basically a stereo JDI with twin transformers, however made in China, which drops the cost to about a third, same amazing quality as far as I can tell, and it"s built like a tank, you could run a truck over it and the thing wouldn"t have a scratch.

You can use any of the other inputs as loop outs, as they"re circuits are run in parallel, individually per channel of course, which is yet another thing they fail to advertise properly.

One sort of con for me though, because it took me by surprise, was the fact that this thing is pretty large. You can"t tell by te pictures, but it"s about a 1/4 larger than my mono Radial JDI, no biggie, it"s just the size it has to be for it to be able to fit in both transformers.
Music background: Professional singer and producer
Great, inexpensive stereo DI for A/V equipment
I've been using one of these for an iPad that I use on stage for pads and a click track while leading worship services. For this, it's a perfectly fine box. The flexibility of the inputs available makes it more versatile for more applications. and I'm planning on buying a second one for our video computer, as it's got a long unbalanced cable run that is prone to interference. Samson's DI boxes are built like absolute tanks, and while I love the solid feel they have, they are larger than other brands' products more often than not, especially this one. It's so much cheaper that I don't mind, but if you're looking for a clean stage aesthetic, a large bright red box like this might not fit the bill. I buy stuff for a church, though, so saving $50-100 compared to other brands is definitely worth a slightly less aesthetically pleasing stage.
