Archback Acoustic from Guild's Westerly Series

Guild's iconic arched back makes its return in the Westerly OM-240CE acoustic-electric. The purpose of this trademark feature is twofold: principally, it reduces weight and increases live projection. But it also pays tribute to some of Guild's popular models, like the D-25 and F-30. The result is a great-playing, easy-traveling guitar with Guild's unmistakable look. The Westerly OM-240CE harks back to Guild's golden-era flat tops with some exciting vintage specs, including a mid-sized Orchestra body made from premium woods, a classic Guild C-shaped neck, and a retro red tortoiseshell pickguard. The OM-240CE includes the AP-1 pickup for a clean sound that plugs straight into a PA.

Guild Acoustics: a heritage built on great woods and features

Guild's heritage as one of America's premier early guitar makers is acknowledged in the OM-240CE. Solid Sitka spruce and mahogany meet in a mid-sized Orchestra body with an arched back for a big sound and great playing experience. A real bone nut and saddle deliver golden-era sustain and clarity. And a 1960s red tortoiseshell pickguard gives this guitar a look that was made to be seen.

Guild AP-1 pickup captures this Westerly's natural acoustic voice

The Westerly series' AP-1 piezo pickup is one of the better options we've seen in this price range. The sound is full and dynamic onstage, and it pairs great with a microphone for recording parts at home or in the studio. Volume and tone controls are mounted directly in the soundhole for easy access, and for a look that won't detract from your guitar's natural beauty.

Engineered for a comfortable playing experience

The OM-240CE's clean playability will help channel all your creative ideas into beautiful music. Seasoned players will notice right away the OM-240CE's slinky string action all along the 25.5" scale length C-shape neck. The 1-11/16" nut width spaces out strings suitably for strumming, flatpicking, or fingerstyling, with a good amount of real estate that neither feels cramped nor causes you to reach uncomfortably.

Guild OM-240CE Westerly Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Iconic arched back pays tribute to Guild's early acoustics
  • Unique design is lighter and louder than comparably sized guitars
  • Quality mid-size Orchestra body is made from solid Sitka spruce and mahogany
  • Vintage-profiled C-shape neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard plays comfortably
  • Venetian cutaway lends itself to comfortable lead playing and high capo'ing
  • 1960s red tortoiseshell pickguard looks great onstage
  • Bone nut and saddle enhance sustain and clarity
  • 1-11/16" nut width suits strummers to fingerstylists
  • 25.5" scale length has a slinky-smooth action
  • Guild AP-1 pickup system provides a clean sound for the stage and studio

Reviews

Great guitar
I love my new guild guitar. The action on it is awesome compared to the one i replaced it with. My fingers are very happy. This guitar made me want to play alot more.

Easy to play with low action
...the guitar is easy to play and has low action which I love. The tuners seem small compared to other guitars I have, but that's no problem. My hands are small. It's not as beautiful as some of my other guitars, but it plays really well and has a good sound.

What a beauty! Thanks guild!
Bought this to keep handy next to my recliner for picking at home. But after playing it for a while I
plan on gigging with it. Lightweight, beautifully crafted OM acoustic. Sounds really nice. Mid-rangy, with good overtones. Very pleasing tone. Fit and finish are excellent. Just a really nice guitar. Thanks Guild!

Fantastic sounding and playing Acoustic for gigging
I just got this guitar to use as an alternative to a nicer gibson I have while gigging out (mostly playing bars/breweries, outside in the HUMID Virginia air). While I haven't had a chance to really "stress" test this at an actual performance yet, this guitar looks, feels, and sounds amazing. The action and intonation from sweetwater were PERFECT upon unboxing it, and while it doesn't have a glossy finish like most "nice" acoustics, I actually love the way the satin feels when playing.

My only complaint about this guitar is that I don't love the fact that you can tell the different piece of wood used to make the headstock and neck heel, but I can only ask for so much in terms for the price point of this guitar, I just wish Guild had tried to match the grain/seam a little better. At least that's all on the back where no one can see it but me.

"budget" acoustic's have come a LOOOONG way in the past 5-10 years, and this guitar is definitely at the top of it's class, well worth the price and definitely plays better than most other acoustics in the sub 500 price range.

I Love the Sound - but the Electric Input is Broken
I'm a big fan of the sound of this guitar, and how naturally it feels in my hands. It came shipped with great strings, somehow perfectly in tune, and it has a great, deep acoustic sound and feel to it. My only complaint (is a big one) is that the electric input doesn't work. I think it was likely a factory defect, as I checked all the cables and knobs, and tried it on multiple amps. I doubt this is a common issue, and I am currently working with Sweetwater and Guild to see what can be done about it. All in all for an acoustic guitar - the price point is great for the quality. Highly recommend.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Parker Goubert
The OM 240CE is lightweight and vesatile. Whether I'm picking fast single-notes, strumming, or playing fingerstyle, this guitar can handle it all. It's comfortable to hold and play, but with a smaller footprint than a typical acoustic guitar. The arched back lends to its robust sound and helps it project extremely well when you need it to. All around great guitar for players of any level!
