This Eight-string Beast is Not for the Faint of Heart

Pummel your fans with the Ibanez M80M Meshuggah Signature 8-string electric guitar - don't worry, they'll come back for more. You'll command aggressive down-tuned tone that's incredibly punchy and defined. The M80M Meshuggah Signature's 5-piece neck is ultra-rigid and ready to withstand years of aggressive playing. It also sports the FX Edge III-8 bridge, a double-locking design that was specifically created for Ibanez's 8-string axes. If you want to shred like Marten Hagstrom and Fredrik Thordendal from Meshuggah, then Sweetwater has your weapon of choice - the Ibanez M80M Meshuggah Signature 8-string guitar.

Fast, smooth feel from the 5-piece neck

The Ibanez M80M Meshuggah Signature packs a 5-piece maple/walnut neck with a 29.4" scale length and KTS titanium reinforcement rods, so you can already tell it's primed for down-tuned metal mayhem. Best of all, the M80M Meshuggah Signature's frets have received Ibanez's Prestige fret edge treatment, which rounds their ends off so smoothly that you'll barely know they're there. In other words, you can shred all night without actually shredding your hands.

Custom Lundgren Model M8P pickup gives you amazingly balanced and detailed tone

Consider that an 8-string guitar's output has a very wide tonal range, and you'll see why Ibanez started from scratch with the M80M Meshuggah Signature's single humbucker. They worked with Lundgren to create a low-output pickup that will hit your amplifier with brutal authority. The lower output helps capture the full range of the M80M Meshuggah Signature, which means that you're driving your amp with a well-balanced tone that's pounding, punchy, and clear.

FX Edge III-8 bridge helps you stay in tune no matter what

Even guitars with fixed tailpieces can lose their tuning during a full metal assault, requiring you to retune many times throughout a gig. That's why Ibanez added the double-locking FX Edge III-8 bridge to the M80M Meshuggah Signature, which was designed by Ibanez specifically for their ultra-aggressive 8-string guitars. Lock in your tuning at the start of the gig, and you may not have to touch it again during your whole set.

Ibanez M80M Meshuggah Signature 8-string Electric Guitar Features:

  • Aggressive 8-string guitar designed for Marten Hagstrom and Fredrik Thordendal from Meshuggah
  • 5-piece maple/walnut neck with KTS titanium reinforcement rods is very rigid for lifelong performance
  • Longer 29.4" scale length gives you string tension that's perfect for down-tuned metal
  • FX Edge III-8 bridge's double-locking design gives you superior tuning stability and reliability
  • Lundgren Model M8P humbucker captures defined, well-balanced tone
  • Factory tuning (high to low): 1D#, 2A#, 3F#, 4C#, 5G#, 6D#, 7A#, 8F

Insane
I'll be concise.

M80M is an instant favorite. Waited a bit until it went in
stock as they sell quickly (already sold out and they haven't been up long, can confirm.)

Resonant. Clean. Dynamic. Peaceful. Massive. Brutal. Cosmic. It blows my mind on each of the prior mentioned traits I strive for in my sounds. The Ibanez M80M just wins for me.

Beautiful intonation, tension, general setup, and build. I have never actually given anything a 5. I have bought much from this site.

Just buy it lol

The only 8 string guitar you need
Overview:
After having this amazing guitar for a few months I feel like I can finally give an honest rating... This thing is a beast, it's the first 8 string I've owned just because I was unsure about buying one. Every 8 string I had played before this felt great on the normal 6 strings, but the 7th and especially the 8th string felt floppy and sounded dull and muddy. The nearly 30 inch scale on this guitar makes even the lowest notes sound so tight and bouncy, and the Lundgren pickup is one to the best humbuckers I've heard. The quality of the guitar is great and while there are a few things I would change there is not a better 8 string for this price!

Pros:
Long scale length gives low notes clarity and tightness even with lighter string gauges
Lundgren pickup sounds amazing
Wide frets feel natural and are easy to get used to
The neck plays like butter (like most Ibanez necks)
Great looking guitar!

Cons:
The locking tuners have been broken a few times, not great but super glue will fix it
The way you string this guitar is strange to me, it takes getting used to
You cannot use over a .90ish gauge on the 8th string, the bridge insert is too small
Retuning is a pain

Overall, this is a great guitar if you have the tuning to F#, F, or even E. I've tuned to C# before and the 8th string got pretty loose and floppy, and since I can't really use above a .90 gauge I tend to stay in F# just because of how bouncy the low end is. An amazing guitar from an amazing company and band!
This does the thing
Bottom line, if you're gonna do anything with an 8 string, just get this. It took me 3 until I finally realized how much the scale length makes the difference. The RG and RGA are great but they don't have the sound and feel of this guitar. Also the Lundgren pickup makes a huge difference. A/B them you'll see.
Beast of a guitar...
I have an original RG2228 and this thing trumps it. The Lundgren M8 sounds amazing. I would put it on par tonally with an EMG-81 but without the bite. It still sounds great in front of all of my amps. I chose this guitar because I do not like the Gibraltar bridges that Ibanez put on their new 8 strings. The Edge Pro is my goto for bridges and this thing is great. It stays in tune and sounds monstrous. It is about 2 inches large than my Rg2228 (It's a 29.4" scale) and holds Drop E and Double Drop D tuning really well.

Wow
If you want a guitar that you can really downtune while maintaining good string tension then this is the guitar you need with its 29.4 inch scale length. The Lundgren pickups sound amazing. Great clarity and bite to capture the full range of tones you get out of this guitar. The low end sounds so evil and in mid range, you get so much attack and bite out of it. Everything on the highend is just crisp. I am simply blown away by this guitar, and you just have to play it to understand.
