Celebrate 60 Years of Jimi Hendrix and Jim Marshall

Jimi Hendrix and a screaming wall of Marshall stacks — it’s among the most iconic pairings in the history of rock ’n’ roll, dating all the way back to 1966 when Jimi forever changed music by plugging into his first Marshall amplifier. This Marshall x Hendrix half-stack bundle pays tribute to that trailblazing tonal partnership. First up, the 1959JHM Super Lead amplifier head pushes out 100 watts of handwired, tube-fueled firepower, re-creating the “Plexi” formula that Jimi played onstage at Woodstock in 1969. Next, the 1960AHW angled 4 x 12-inch cabinet features a quartet of Celestion G12H-30 speakers that kick out an arena-shaking roar with decidedly vintage-spec sonics. A Dunlop JHF1 Fuzz Face pedal completes the package, granting you the silicon-powered sustain that Jimi discovered the same year he began using Marshalls. Best of all, the head, the cabinet, and the pedal all come decked out in a haze of purple appointments, including a psychedelic splatter pattern, custom Jimi Hendrix x Jim Marshall badges, and a suite of Hendrix-themed extras.

100 watts of stadium-shaking power

Clocking in at 100 watts, the 1959JMH's arrangement of four EL34 power tubes and three ECC83 tubes dishes out a serious level of firepower. This is a loud amplifier, and it’s meant to be played loud. The standard-issue master volume controls we so enjoy today were all but a pipe dream back in 1966 when Jimi plugged into his first Marshall, which means you’ll have to achieve breakup in the traditional fashion — turning up the volume until the 1959JMH's glowing glass lights up your signal with what many Sweetwater guitarists consider to this day to be the defining Marshall crunch.

Traditional handwired construction

When Marshall’s first 100-watt 1959 models were launched in 1965, amplifiers were still built the old-fashioned way — with a hot soldering iron and a significant degree of skill on the operator’s end. And while modern PCB designs have revolutionized the art of amplification, this Marshall x Hendrix 1959JMH head pays tribute to its predecessors with a traditional handwired circuit, crafted in Marshall’s prestigious English facility. From the wires on the turret board to the resistors, pots, and capacitors, every element of this amp is installed by skilled human hands, just as it would have been done on the amplifiers originally wielded by Jimi in his heyday.

Custom-finished Dunlop Fuzz Face

Would it really be a proper Jimi Hendrix collection without a fuzz pedal? This bundle boasts a custom-finished variation of the classic Dunlop JHF1 Fuzz Face, complete with the original metal “smiley face” enclosure, as used by Jimi. Plug in this silicon-fueled fuzzbox, turn up the volume on your head, and hold on for dear life as the singing, vocal-like guitar sounds of Jimi’s iconic Woodstock performance and Band of Gypsys–era output come alive. To top it all off, this Fuzz Face sports a purple splatter finish to match the head and the cab.
