High-end Signal Coloration

A discrete Class A 500 Series module (the karacter 500) in a sleek desktop chassis, the elysia karacter qube gives you a staggering range of sonic options, from mastering-grade saturation to tube-style distortion and merciless waveform annihilation. The karacter qube sports two channels you can use in dual mono, linked stereo, or even a mid/side configuration, making it a supremely versatile tool for any studio or live situation. Use a gentle touch with THD generation and season to taste, or unleash sonic mayhem with asymmetrical clipping. Parallel process with the integrated mix control to achieve the ideal amount of grit. Fine-tune harmonics with the Color Filter network. Tweak away — the elysia karacter qube’s stepped potentiometers let you recall your settings precisely.

Infuse your tracks with rich character

Wish you had racks full of outboard gear to achieve the perfect tonal coloration? At Sweetwater, we’ve discovered you no longer need them — thanks to the elysia karacter qube. An ideal all-in-one solution, the karacter qube delivers a broad palette of colors, and they all sound lovely, no matter how mildly or aggressively you process. The karacter qube is designed and built in the company’s factory in Nettetal, Germany, using only top-shelf components, gold-plated PCBs, a robust 4mm aluminum front panel, and solid aluminum knobs. Bottom line, the elysia karacter qube will be infusing your tracks with rich character for many years to come.

Painting with sound

To expand on this concept of “painting with sound,” it’s instructive to consider the well-established relationship between music and the visual arts. When you’re recording music, you are (hopefully) forming a mental picture of your mix. With each overdub, each brushstroke of EQ, in essence, you’re painting with sound. Mid-century Dutch-American abstract expressionist Willem de Kooning famously wrote, “Miles Davis bends the notes . . . I bend the paint.” The elysia karacter qube is a tool for bending the sound. You’ll actually have to use it to fully understand the practical implications of what it can do. Trust us: you just have to hear it for yourself.

Reviews

Great sounding saturation module.
I was exclusively ITB, stepped up to a Karacter, Xpressor and an Xfilter. The Karacter alone gives harmonic content and weight to a signal. A couple of different modes, no learning curve. Manual is straight forward. Use alot for a parallel crush bus. The thickening is real.
Awesome
I route the new Roland fantom through this thing and my god.. it's incredible. You can really be surgical with how much saturation/distortion you want. I typically choose a mild setting and just always leave it on. Electric piano patches especially sound beautiful through it! Such a pleasing crunch and hairyness to the sound. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. I'm most likely going to add a little karacter to all my tracks now. It's a great investment because it sounds amazing, and can be applied in many different ways to many different sounds/styles. If you buy this you'll probably use it on everything like me

Mojo and Depth
First I'd like to thank Brian Hughes(yeah ya thought I forgot didn'tcha Lol)for his help. I see why now you use this masterpiece and I'm glad I finally got my hands on a unit that complements my SSL Fusion perfectly for I use the Karacter Qube early in the mastering chain and the SSl Fusion at the end. If one is looking for a little karacter on the two bus/any bus please get this little box trust me unless there is a problem function wise this is one of those pieces that stays in the studio I even bought some monitor pads and I use one of those to sit my qube on.again thank you Brian for I thought I had it with the Daking compIIT(awsome piece) but I see now all I needed was a little Karacter on the 2bus
