All-in-one Microphone Streaming Interface

For content creators, mixing and recording audio simultaneously can be challenging. Enter the iRig Stream Mic Pro, IK Multimedia’s handy condenser microphone with a built-in audio interface. Along with a collection of hi-fi recording hardware, you have access to four polar patterns, providing much-needed audial versatility for any streaming situation. A 3.5 mm line-in allows you to feed custom audio through the iRig Stream Mic’s interface in either stereo or multichannel modes, letting you easily mix two separate channels right on the microphone’s front panel! Best of all, the iRig Stream Mic is compatible with IK Multimedia’s Loopback+, making for easy audio effects at the touch of a button.

Versatile multi-pattern pickup control

IK Multimedia understands that content creators use their microphones for a variety of applications. That’s why they loaded the iRig Stream Mic Pro with four swappable polar patterns. Whether you’re engaged in a podcast, performing with an instrument, or streaming your favorite game, you’ll be able to choose between cardioid, omnidirectional, figure-8, and stereo patterns to best match your desired sound quality. When paired with the iRig Stream Mic Pro’s electret condenser capsules, you can rest assured you’re delivering high-fidelity audio to your audience with appropriate microphone voicing.

More than a microphone

The iRig Stream Mic Pro may look like a regular microphone, but Sweetwater sound experts have found its functionality also represents that of an efficient audio interface. With access to both a 3.5 mm stereo input and a headphone out, you’ll be able to interface with external devices easily. Apart from having your audio passed through the iRig Stream Mic, a stereo/multichannel control will allow you to separate your microphone from your line in signal, giving you the ability to mix your output before it heads off to your stream. Similarly, the main control knob provides a means for tweaking your microphone and interface settings quickly, so you can easily iron out your sound while in the middle of your performance.

Polish your sound with Loopback+

Adding effects to your audio is a must when you’re looking to keep your audience — and perhaps yourself — entertained during a performance. Luckily, the iRig Stream Mic Pro works flawlessly with IK Multimedia’s Loopback+. In tandem with your recorded audio, Loopback+ is capable of routing your audio signal to a separate processing application, allowing you to add reverb, EQ, noise reduction, and other effects to help buff out the edges of your output.

Very useful microphone
I was looking for a microphone for informal recording to my cell phone to support my practice as a classical flutist/composer/arranger. I've been working in a 200 year old church with no power or heat, but incredible acoustics and atmosphere. I often use recorded accompaniments with a wireless speaker.

This microphone exceeds my expectations. I can get recordings of sufficient quality to analyze my work, and to make quick demos. I don't think it will produce a top notch recording, but that's not what I'm asking of it. As a tool for practice and self-analysis, and light duty demos, it's great. Yes, I know the iRig is marketed as a podcasting mic, but I'm using it "off-label."

It needs phantom power, and I was worried that it would deplete my Iphone battery, but no worries, I can do as much recording as I want on a charge. I was thinking I was going to need to buy the power supply, but not necessary for my purposes.

The iRig can emulate several different patterns, in fact I haven't had time to explore all its features. It has a built-in interface. It comes with an app that can can export files in Wav format, which I find a great convenience - I can move the files over to Audacity, hit it with the Loudness Normalization effect, and burn a quick mp3. This saves me a step, and a bunch of time/confusion.

Some useful improvements might include a Lightning to USB adapter so I could use it with my PC, one which can supply the phantom power. I'm sure I can find that adapter, just an extra step. An adapter for a boom would be a nice accessory to include. Also not sure why the jack on the microphone is S-video and not USB....

The iRig won't replace a good interface and quality microphones, but what it does, it does extremely well. A useful tool at an accessible price.
