Custom Feel and Eye-catching Appearance

Like the original YCL-650, the Yamaha YCL-650II Bb Clarinet is expertly crafted from responsive, high-quality grenadilla wood. Silver-plated keywork decorates the body, beautifully contrasting the underlying grenadilla wood. Additionally, an adjustable thumb rest makes playing comfortable for hands of all sizes. As a result, the Yamaha YCL-650II appears nearly identical to the Yamaha Custom SEVR model clarinet. But the YCL-650II’s trusty leather pads — designed to withstand heavy usage and eliminate unwanted clicking noises — are among its most significant new features.

Play like a pro without paying like a pro

If you’re a serious player seeking a professional clarinet, look no further. The Yamaha YCL-650II is not only affordable, but it also plays up to par with Yamaha’s pricier professional models. Clarinetists at Sweetwater appreciate this clarinet’s versatility. Its rich sound blends flawlessly into any ensemble, opening up endless musical possibilities for professional clarinetists interested in expanding their horizons. And with reimagined features that enhance its durability and feel, the Yamaha YCL-650II will perform remarkably well no matter the gig.

Superior sound for the serious player

Thanks to the YCL-650II’s new-and-improved specs, you can expect a hearty sound and impressive pitch accuracy from the first note you play. You’ll also notice that its barrel optimizes your airflow while its resonance chamber projects your sound with little effort. What’s more, longer E/B levers and C#/G# keys prevent your fingers from slipping, reducing the chances of fingering mistakes. Many clarinetists find that these features make the YCL-650II sound as stunning as it looks. And with Sweetwater's exclusive 40-point inspection, you can rest assured that your YCL-650II will arrive in prime condition, ready for you to bring it to life.

Reviews

Best value among all clarinets!
This is my 3rd SE bore Yamaha clarinet that I've owned/played since 1982. My first was a pair of YCL62/65s that I played professionally, usually in a Symphonic Orhestra ensemble. I bought them well used and sold them, after getting fired and retiring from clarinet playing. When I came back, I tried various brands models, and due to limited budget, settled on the Yamaha YCL650 in 2016, and later a Buffet R13 greenline as my outdoor axe. Now, ramping up my playing again and fresh look at clarinets. I'd love an SEVR, but not available for months. So, it's another 650.

Using a Vandoren M15 mouthpiece with Legere French Cut 3.25/3.5.

Best intonation I've ever experienced! Beautiful, warmth with a dolce topping. Excellent workmanship and feel. Now, not so sure I need the SEVR ... I might buy a spare 650 as a spare and rotate every other day. I always buy identical backup everything ...

Also, this instrument is totally made in Japan, not partially/completely outsourced to cheaper labor sources, as surprisingly/secretly many other brands/models are.

You will not regret buying a Yamaha YCL650II. A bargain, well worth thousands more. I love mine.
