Reviews

Solid Gracie stand!
Sweetwater sent this out fast, on schedule & in excellent condition.
So far I love it! Very solidly built.
I use it on my solo acoustic shows. It holds my Stratocaster perfectly for when I want to get a loop going and then walk over to the strat for an electric solo to spice up the performance.
Enable long rehearsals without shoulder pain
I purchased this stand to help relieve my shoulder pain at the recommendation of my chiropractor. It is highly configurable with height, neck tilt, and body tilt adjustments to make it comfortable to rehearse for hours without strap pressure. The stand is very sturdy and I have no concerns with the security of my instruments in it. If the price was more reasonable, I would have given it 5 starts, but it should prove cheaper than frequent visits for medical care! It is a different playing experience without the weight of the guitar on your body, but you will get used to it.

Does the job
Got this because I recently broke my left upper arm/shoulder in a fall. The timing is never good for something like that, but in this case it was really bad. Spring is our busy time for gigs and I had 2 big ones coming up and I couldn't hold my bass and play at all (still can't) with my arm. The pain and limited mobility was just too much to deal with. The stand works great. There is a cut out for the jack, it is highly adjustable (I mean I had to bend the "S" curve to fit my Tobias 5-string), but it fits great. Holds it sturdy with a little give and take which feels like I'm driving it pretty good. I like the way it swivels so I can move around a lot. Since I can't move my arm more than a few inches up or down the neck, I can just move my whole body and stand where I need to be to play in whatever key we are in. It really works well.

The only reason I didn't give it 5-Stars is the price tag. I mean, if you REALLY need something, I guess no price tag is too big. But come on, this thing is like a $25.00 music stand with a custom head on it. I suppose that's where all the $ is involved, but what I don't like, is if you wanted to use this for an Acoustic guitar, you have to buy an entire new one. Seems like they would at least sell the top part for an acoustic so you only had to buy 1 stand. Or make it a package deal and sell the 2 tops with one stand for somewhere in the middle. Hard to justify spending almost $700 if you want one for an electric, and one for an Acoustic. But hey, I guess they are in business to make $. Just seems like they would sell more if they were more reasonably priced.

All that said, I would recommend this for anyone with any physical challenges or if you play another instrument and need to walk up to an electric for a song or 2 or whatever during a live performance, this thing works well.

Sturdy
This is a good guitar stand
Works as advertised
I've had recent hip tendonitis holding my guitar for hours at a time was causing it to get much worse, so I researched and checked out various reviews of the K&M Walk-up guitar stand, and saw that others who had physical issues also ordered and used the stand. So I ordered it and fortunately several of my guitars did fit the stand, Strat, Melody Maker, Westone Phoenix. The stand is a tripod and has three legs It does allow me to swing to my left or right to be able to see my drummer and Bass player, but I'm still trying to figure out where to put my pedals and pedalboard as one leg or another always ends up in the way. It would be awesome if the K&M stand was mounted to a heavy steel plate with one center pole connected to the guitar holder clamp, leaving a flat surface all around the center pole for pedals to live. Having the holder angled back towards you works nicely allows you to see the strings and fretboard but I find that also causes me to have to lean my back forward at around 10% lean which causes my back to hurt a lot.If one leg was adjustable that would alleviate the lean problem. All in all it is expensive, not as heavy duty as most decent drum hardware, but it works and holds the weight and is balanced as not to tip over if you set it up correctly.
