Legendary Studio Tone Meets Cutting-edge Technology

Expanding their Volt framework into a pro-level rackmount USB-C audio interface, the Universal Audio Volt 876 melds legendary studio tone with ample I/O and cutting-edge 32-bit/192kHz AD/DA. This stellar unit houses eight digitally controlled mic preamps, bolstered by assistive Auto-Gain to ensure proper levels in every recording scenario. Moreover, each preamp includes UA's exclusive Vintage Preamp Mode and a FET-fueled 76 Compressor, providing you with unrivaled tone-shaping power — no outboard gear required. The Volt 876 features 16 channels of ADAT I/O, allowing you to link up to three interfaces for a 24-channel system or simply employ it as a standalone expander. Beyond that, eight analog outputs and two headphone outputs make monitoring a snap, plus you get cue mixing, remote control, alt monitoring, and more using the UAD Console app. Moreover, you get an onboard talkback microphone for seamless studio communication, switchable Hi-Z inputs for streamlined DI recording, MIDI I/O for your synths and controllers, and per-channel 48-volt phantom power for condenser mics. Additionally, the Volt 876 includes UA's AI-powered LUNA DAW and a premium bundle of UAD plug-ins and instruments. Whether you need a rock-solid audio interface or are looking to expand your current setup, the Universal Audio Volt 876 has the world-class sound and professional features required to capture, shape, and deliver your music with the clarity, warmth, and flexibility worthy of a top-tier studio.

Armed with class-leading AD/DA conversion

Designed by the team that created Universal Audio's best-selling Apollo interfaces, the Volt 876 boasts next-generation 32-bit/192 AD/DA conversion. The interface's optimized conversion circuitry delivers true-to-life detail and clarity with tons of dimensionality. And, thanks to the Assistive Auto-Gain feature, every take will be a keeper. The engineers here at Sweetwater have found that projects recorded via this USB-C audio interface are top-shelf all the way. With the Volt 876, you'll be able to produce rock-solid, album-worthy tracks.

Infuses your tracks with rich analog character

UA is renowned for their classic analog designs, and the Volt 876 reflects their decades of experience. This audio interface includes eight analog mic preamps that sound startlingly similar to Universal Audio's classic 610 tube pre. The Vintage Preamp Mode employs expertly designed op-amps and solid-state electronics to deliver tubelike dynamic saturation and clipping, arming you with powerful, intuitive tone shaping for your microphones and line-level signals. Best of all, Vintage Preamp Mode is selectable, which enables you to use the Volt 876 with external preamps and channel strips with zero added coloration. Additionally, each mic channel includes a built-in 76 Compressor, a FET-driven design based on the classic UREI 1176. But these aren't digital emulations; rather, they're real-deal analog compressors. Beyond that, these compressors include three easy-to-use push-button modes for Vocals, Guitars, and Fast sources (the latter is tailor-made for drums), ensuring optimal settings for any source.

A generous complement of expandable I/O

The Volt 876 includes eight preamps and compressors — perfect for recording larger groups — with more character and tone than any USB interface in its class. Two studio-quality headphone amplifiers supply you with lucid, clear monitoring, bolstered by an onboard talkback microphone for seamless studio communication. Do you need more I/O? The Volt 876 permits you to add up to 16 channels via ADAT for a total of 24 inputs and 28 outputs. Furthermore, you can link up to three Volt 876s, allowing you to expand your Apollo or third-party interface for an eminently scalable recording system.

Includes a premium software bundle

The Volt 876 comes with a value-laden collection of pro-grade software, enabling you to start recording right out of the box. For starters, you get UA's award-winning LUNA DAW software, allowing you to record, edit, and mix using the sound and workflow of an analog studio. The Volt 876 also includes a suite of UAD plug-ins and instruments, comprising classic Teletronix LA‑2A compressors and Pultec EQs plus new favorites, such as the PolyMAX Synth, Century Tube Channel Strip, Oxide Tape Recorder, Verve Analog Machines Essentials, Pure Plate Reverb, Galaxy Tape Echo, and Showtime '64 Tube Guitar Amp. You also get an excellent cache of third-party software, including Ableton Live Lite, Celemony Melodyne Essential, Plugin Alliance Ampeg SVT-VR Classic Bass Bundle, Softube Marshall Plexi Classic Amp Bundle, UJAM Virtual Drummer Deep and Virtual Bassist Dandy, and Spitfire Audio Labs. Thanks to this generous software bundle, you can create music using the same plug-ins and instruments that top industry pros rely on in your home studio.

Reviews

Awesome Update for the Budget-minded
Yes, the RME would have been nice as would have been the Apollo offerings. However, they are out of my price range. The Volt 876 is giving me more I/O and an intuitive layout in a rackmount format which is already stretching my needs. The price is right with some Gear Exchange credit, holiday gift cards, and the 6 payment plan. As a point of perspective, this is replacing a Steinberg UR28M from 2013. The improvement in sound quality alone has been worth it. The accompanying UA Console software is much more useful than what I had before as it actually interacts with the interface. I wanted at least 8 inputs and this delivers on that point along with ADAT expandability should I ever get to that point. I am also happy with how the built in preamps are allowing me to continue to use my external preamp with no issues. There are no gain level pads on the Volt but I can pad the external pre if needed. All channels have access to phantom power in any combination without sharing along with polarity switching. The 76 comp and Vintage modes are decent under the right circumstances. I have used them to process my play only input when practicing my worship team music with the MultiTracks online rehearsal software our church uses. The improvement in clarity and level matching for my bass and guitar rehearsal mix is greatly improved. I am very happy with this interface on so many levels for what I do in recording and mixing on Cubase and would highly recommend it anybody trying to elevate from entry level without a crippling financial commitment. Thanks to Israel and his colleague would helped me make the jump and for a quick delivery window at the height of the pre-holiday crunch.

the converters are awesome for those with a band or no band I think you would love the quality of sound you get, vintage mode is cool gives you the warmth and harmonics you need for great vocals, guitar, bass, drums.there is a little noise from the 76comp I think that is the only criticism I have of the unit works and sounds great with luna daw and logic cubase I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THE VOLT 876 GOOD JOB UNIVERSAL AUDIO. AND THE SHIPPING IS GOOD GOT HERE ON TIME THANK YOU SWEETWATER THEY ARE THE BEST! AND A SHOUT OUT TO GRAIG MILLS SALES ENGINEER.
