Extreme Vocal and Guitar Effects

With four times the memory of its predecessor, the VoiceLive 3 Extreme takes TC-Helicon's versatile all-in-one performance tool to an entirely new level. When you want to shape and enhance your vocals with great-sounding onboard effects, create natural-sounding vocal harmonies, and process your guitar with effects and amp models based on TC Electronic's popular TonePrint family, this remarkable effects processor delivers. On top of that, the Extreme-ly feature-laden VL3X gives you backing track storage, groundbreaking effects automation features, and USB import and export of loops. At Sweetwater, we love the fact that you can access all of this remarkable processing power with a simple toe tap. Take it from Sweetwater: the TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme is a powerful stage companion!

Unlock more features with the latest firmware!

Upgrading to the latest firmware nets you the hottest features in the TC VoiceLive 3 Extreme:

  • Backing track routing — send backing tracks from the 1/4" outs and vocals/guitar from the XLR outs for easy FOH mixing
  • MIDI sync — slave time-perfect delay, looping, and rhythmic effects to external devices, such as drum machines, for seamless performances
  • Enhanced looping — now includes 50 loop slots (upgraded from 10), along with external footswitch control and improved sync

Complete professional vocal and guitar FX paths

Previous incarnations of the VoiceLive series provided singers with a vehicle for enhancing their onstage performance by providing harmonies and effects that auto-track based on the chords being played. Whether solo or backed by a band, the VoiceLive opened up the creative possibilities of live performance. Now with the VoiceLive 3 Extreme, TC-Helicon is upping the ante yet again, adding tons of new features to an already impressive system, making this version the ultimate performance tool.

Backing track import with effects automation for killer synchronized performances

Rather than requiring you to tap dance all over your effects processor while onstage, the TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme's revolutionary automation features let you concentrate on your performance, rather than on your effects. Whether you're programming simple drum/bass arrangements, or creating a full band mix, the VL3X remembers all of your effects changes, synchronizing them with your track. You can create harmonies, delays, guitar effects, and just about anything you can think of, and then play them back during your performance with a simple push of a button. And don't worry about running out of storage - the VoiceLive 3 Extreme has enough memory to hold over 100 songs!

Performance recorder sends 24-bit audio directly to a USB flash drive

The TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme makes creating 24-bit-quality recordings of your shows a breeze. Along with your backing tracks, the VL3X is able to capture your vocal/guitar performance, complete with effects changes, and send it directly to a USB flash drive. Think of it - your own personal "board mix" conveniently delivered to you at the end of each show, ready to be uploaded to social media or to SoundCloud.

Reviews

It's undoubtedly the best vocal equipment!
My tip: USE the VOICELIVEEDITOR software. It's not official from the company, but it's reliable and the only one that does what the company should have done!

Copy the screen you want to adjust from the software (e.g., timbre, reverb, etc.) and send it to the GPT chat. Ask them to adjust the parameters according to your segment/performance style and musical style (e.g., rock, pop, live studio, church, etc.).

Copy the parameters and paste them into the editing software (they need to be entered manually), save, and test live. Adjust as needed.

NOTE: The preamp is great, but if you push the compressor too hard, it will produce low, but present, noise (no matter the mic or cable). This isn't a problem, just a heads-up.

Tuners need to be used wisely. I recommend using the tuner found in the SETUP > GLOBAL PITCH CORRECT screen live, with a maximum of 22% to ensure it doesn't sound robotic.

There are other tuners within it, but in my opinion, they'll only work properly if your singing style is pop, with tuners working at their limits; it'll give you a robotic voice.

I use the Neumann KMS 105 microphone with it, and acoustic guitars too; they sound simply perfect live! Of course, what helps me is the fact that I have over 25 years of experience and am an audio engineer. So, I can say that those who complain are because they can't or don't understand how to adjust the equipment. It's like a pedalboard: if you don't know what you're doing, nothing works. Unfortunately, it's not for amateurs. If you have it and just turn knobs without any idea, it will make you very unhappy!

Simply perfect!
Great processor
I've had it for about 9 years. This is, without a doubt, the best vocal processor I've ever used. I love the fact that I can plug in an external mic preamp using the combo TRS input—huge plus. The acoustic guitar effects are really solid. On the other hand, the electric guitar tones, especially overdrives, can sound a bit sterile. I mostly run my guitar through it just so the unit can follow chord and scale changes. Sometimes I also program MIDI info to guide the harmonies.
Also, the fact that it has a dedicated stereo output for vocals really brings the harmonies to life—it adds dimension and makes everything sound more natural and immersive.
I'm still waiting for TC Helicon to release the next generation. Please, listen to us musicians: keep everything that makes this piece of gear great—just make it better.
Music background: Part-time musician.
VL3X
Second one I have owned...
Love it...!!!
KEEPING TRUE TO THEIR ROOTS
I HAVE SEVERAL VOICE PROCESSORS, INCLUDING A VOICE LIVE 2, THE RATE OF IMPROVEMENT IS "UNCANNY" WITH THIS PRODUCT; ONCE THEY REACHED A POINT WHERE YOU THINK TO YOURSELF (THIS IS IT, THEY CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS); WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF TIME IN BETWEEN THE INTRODUCTION OF NEW PRODUCTS; HERE IT IS! SO, I WILL REPHRASE MY THOUGHTS TO; (IT WILL BE SOME TIME BEFORE THEY WILL DO BETTER THAN THIS. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING ALL YOU GOT IN TO EVERYTHING WITH YOUR NAME ON IT, WHENEVER YOU PUT IT OUT!
Solid and so versatile
This is my 2nd TC VL3. I have one in my guitar rig and it works flawlessly. Added a second one to my keyboard rig. Even though I don't use the internal guitar processor, I wanted to familiarity and setup as my first pedal. This gives me that and so much more. I can use it as a stand-alone practice rig without having to break out my entire guitar pedal board. The voicings are great and I had no learning curve as I would with a different piece of gear. TC has never let me down!
