ADK’s Mid-Forward LDC
Having trouble placing lead vocals and solo instruments in the mix? Perhaps you need the right mic. Enter the ADK Vienna-12 T. This large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone is aggressively voiced to push any track recorded with it to the forefront of the soundstage. With the Vienna-12 T, you’ll find that tracks are easier to mix and can hold their own in busy arrangements. Bright without being harsh, the Vienna imparts forceful presence, sheen, and shimmer to challenging, darker-sounding instruments such as large-bodied rosewood acoustic guitars, as well as rock, pop, or hip-hop vocals that need to cut through a dense mix.

Designed to flatter
ADK begins the design process for every new microphone model by targeting specific sonic attributes. Like all T-FET series mics, the Vienna-12 T employs a unique proprietary circuit with a custom Carnhill transformer that is expressly designed to saturate gracefully. This tube-like behavior — the gradual addition of euphonic even-order harmonic content — can thus be strategically leveraged by the recording engineer as an enhancement to the signal. The Vienna’s novel circuitry and mid-forward voicing allow it to render vocals and instruments with an authoritative, full-bodied tonality characterized by tight lows, assertive upper midrange, and a subtly boosted air band.

Three polar patterns = infinite possibilities
The Vienna’s three switchable polar patterns — cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 — give you immense flexibility when it comes to exploring the sonic possibilities offered by different recording techniques. Cardioid will be your go-to for the vast majority of recording and sound-reinforcement tasks. Figure-8 (bidirectional) is ideal for capturing face-to-face recordings such as two background singers on one mic. Omni is perfect for capturing the ambience of a studio or concert hall. Indeed, you can even mic an entire symphony orchestra with just three judiciously placed Vienna microphones set to omni. And with just a matched pair of these superb mics, you can implement stereo techniques such as Spaced Pair (A/B), XY (including Blumlein), ORTF array, and mid-side (M-S).
ADK: modern specs, vintage sound
Driven by musicians and engineers with many decades of experience, ADK’s product development is informed by input from the worldwide community of artists, producers, and golden-eared studio and live sound engineers who assisted in the design of these microphones. Despite their impressive affordability, ADK microphones benefit from both best practices and premium components. ADK mics are engineered with minimalist circuit paths to extract maximum sonic performance from each and every design. As a result, ADK microphones exhibit exponentially better dynamic range and lower self-noise than the vintage classics they’re inspired by. Sweetwater is delighted to offer you ADK’s outstanding lineup of high-value, high-performance mics. Meticulously handcrafted using the best possible components sourced from highly respected parts manufacturers worldwide, ADK microphones are poised to elevate the quality of your sound.
