Venture Forth with an Ampeg by Your Side

Since 1946, Ampeg has captivated the ears of low-end users with superb tone and pivotal power. With a long history of innovation at its back, Ampeg sailed into uncharted territory with the Venture Series! The Venture V7 700-watt Bass Head packs together the benefits of Class D power, compact size, comprehensive I/O, and intuitive tone-shaping controls. Some at Sweetwater have said the special ingredient in the Ampeg Venture V7 is the Super Grit Technology Overdrive circuit that boasts the voicings of both the SVT and B15. This beauty of Ampeg engineering also boasts an FX Loop, XLR-DI, and a headphone output. All of these features and more set this head up as another Ampeg triumph — Sweetwater bassists certainly think so!

Power that’s all Ampeg

The Venture Series was built for modern-day bassists requiring a portable yet powerful amp head. Under the hood, the V7 sports all-analog circuitry, excepting, of course, the solid-state Class D amplifier. The Venture V7’s 700 watts of power give it plenty of juice to drive every speaker cabinet in the Venture Series, in addition to nearly every speaker you’ll come in contact with on the road.

Legendary tone built right in

The Venture V7 Bass Head offers you the power of its footswitchable SGT (Super Grit Technology) Overdrive circuit for satisfying crunch and powerful drive. Within this circuit, you can tap into the tonal excellence of two of Ampeg’s coveted amplifiers: the SVT and the B15. If you’re unfamiliar with the SVT’s signature roar and harmonic richness, Ampeg invites you to flick the switch and see what the fuss is about. Similarly, the B15 is ready to take you back to vintage sound with tonal qualities all its own. After you’ve picked your poison, you can dial in the amount of grit with a stacked knob configuration. The Venture V7 also provides bassists with a 3-band EQ that includes sweepable Mids, Ultra Hi, and 3-way Ultra Lo. These tonal-sculpting features are topped off by a highly musical variable compressor.

Comprehensive connections

Playing the bass is a formidable challenge unto itself, but it’s easier to succeed when Ampeg sets you up with all the requirements needed. The Venture V7 offers an XLR-DI, headphone output, and FX Loop for work on the stage or in the studio. Not to mention, the FX Loop is enhanced with a mix knob to blend wet and dry signals. With all the requisite controls at your fingertips, you’ll find more time for churning out killer grooves and sculpting your dream tone.

Compact size perfect for on-the-go bassists

The Venture V7 is middle of the road in the Venture Series, and thanks to a compact design, it can easily fit in a gig bag or even a laptop bag. This makes it the perfect amp head for traveling bassists! You can also grab an optional Venture carrying bag to transport your V7 in ultimate style and protection.

Reviews

Amazing
Purchased and played along with the VB-410, and it's so much better than all the youtube videos suggested. The range of tones is just mind blowing. Not really in a position to open it up (apartment living), but even at low volume the low end can be felt in the guts.

best review is for sweetwater customer service. ordered the stuff and got a phone call from a csr 20 minutes later, asking if i had any questions. i did, and he was able to give a knowledgeable answer, and was correct. makes you feel like a dang rock star.
Ampeg V7
The Ampeg V7 is the best amplifier I have ever owned.

It sounds great.

40+ year player, multiple rock/cover bands in the North-East, own and will never sell my SVT-VR because nothing sounds "exactly" like a fire-breathing all tube SVT...however, the V7 is the exact same flavor (harmonic overdrive to my ears) with a tone compliment that has a bit more flexibility compared to the industry standard SVT. The sweep-able mid control is a good example. For reference I just remember the 220 /800/ 3K positions on a tube SVT and set my V7 to those frequencies, start here if you are looking for that genuine SVT tone. The B15 switch is the hidden treasure! This one is so good and useful, I find myself switching to the B15 tone for slower songs then back to the SVT wrecking ball tone for a classic rock sound.

Have owned everything over the years, Peavy, Marshall, SWR, GK, Sansamp type DI boxes (FWIW, the SGT-DI is also amazing), all were very good, but the V7 is superior.

It weighs 6.12 lbs. Again, I love my 85 lb. SVT-VR, but weight is a factor.

Since receiving my V7 from Sweetwater as a package with the Venture 2X10 cabinet (so good) I have played small clubs with the V7/2X10, large halls (think Elk's Club Size venues) with the V7 and my SVT 6X10HLF (this is a personal sweet spot), and an outdoor job with the V7/6X10, this weekend we have a large outdoor event that I was planning on bringing my all tube SVT/8X10 package but I'm rethinking this, might use the V7/8X10 because it sounds so good. No matter what, the V7 instantly became my "go-to" amp.

This is a "Best Buy" IMHO

I hope this helps!

Good amp, why use a non standard speaker connection
I like the sound I finally got out of the amp once I bought new speaker cables. Be aware if you get any of the V series amps from Ampeg that they need a specific speakON connection. It needs the NL2 keyed connector, the standard SpeakON connector will not work. the center pole needs to have a half moon cut our of it for it to fit. Would be nice if they made this VERY clear in their specs for the amp as I needed all new cables to use instead of the ones my SVT, Portaflex, and Orange amps use.

Like I said though the sound coming out once you have the correct cables sounds good. Also so much lighter than my other amps.
Too polite
A little too polite for my taste. I thought a 700 watt amp would sound good through my 4x10 hlf. It sounds good but polite. Lacking Ampeg authority. I'm not too impressed.
