Simple, Accurate, and Reliable Tube Testing

Keep your tube hi-fi, studio, and (of course) tube amplifiers playing at their peak with the Orange Valve Tester Mark II. Building upon Orange’s original tube-testing device, the Valve Tester Mark II allows for effortless diagnosis of a wide variety of tubes with no electronics knowledge required. Insert your compatible tube, select it using the Valve Tester Mark II’s arrow keys, and the unit automatically performs an extensive set of tests to supply you with a simple, accurate result of Good, Worn, or Fail. Moreover, the Valve Tester Mark II introduces several new tests into the equation for even more accurate results, along with upgraded tube sockets, higher current capacity, improved grid leakage detection testing, and much more. Perfect for guitarists and audiophiles seeking a top-notch tube tester that doesn’t require a degree in advanced electronics, the Orange Valve Tester Mark II is a must-have part of any tube enthusiast’s toolbox.

No electronics knowledge required

Designed for users without a background in electronics, the Orange Valve Tester Mark II makes testing tubes a breeze — no in-depth knowledge of tube operation is required. Lock in your tube, select the tube type using the arrow buttons, and hit the OK button to begin the test. The Valve Tester Mark II then automatically begins a comprehensive set of tests on your tube, including inter-electrode switching/measurement exercises, grid leakage detection testing, thermal runaway testing, a digital microphony function for preamp tubes, and more. If that all sounds rather complicated, fear not — when the Valve Tester Mark II completes its comprehensive technical evaluation, it provides a straightforward diagnosis of Good, Worn, or Fail via its trio of colored lights. Whether you’re an electronics veteran or just a guitarist hoping to keep your amp in good repair, Sweetwater recommends the Valve Tester Mark II to keep your tubes in tip-top shape.

Reviews

Super easy
Very user friendly and easy to use. Now I can match tubes myself, now I can determine if I have a bad tube or not. Now I can go thru my old stash of tubes and see how much life they have left. I'm so glad these came back into production. It's built very well and is of the highest quality.
Best investment
These actually pay for themselves just by identifying bad or inferior tubes instead of replacing complete sets every time you suspect a tube. I also use it to grade & match power tube sets & sort preamp tubes by gain. I'd have drawers of suspect tubes if I didn't have one of these. Now I have drawers of tested & graded tubes.
Orange Valve Tester MKII - It really works and is accurate!
Orange is a quality amp maker and the Valve Tester is right in line with what I'd expect from Orange.
I tested 20 EL34's, 8 6L6's, 2 dozen 12AX7's and other preamp tubes. The newer matched pairs of EL34's
were dead on consistent to the APEX matches. And the tubes that failed were 100% consistent..
I had some NOS RCA 6L6's that tested good and a closer match than expected. I had some worn 5881's that
were dead on what I expected and tested worn, but still usable.

Best purchase I've made in a while and very glad I can test my tubes with confidence!
I'm not an amp tech, just a guy that knows how to bias amps and troubleshoot some issues.
If you're reading this review, buy the valve tester....
