Very good vibrato pedal. I think it does all the same stuff as the vintage boss. Also it has an additional custom mode that is also cool.

This gave my tone what I was missing that little bit of a shimmer. I love this pedal.

I love this pedal a lot. Boss pedals, are just tough and you can step on this all day. The sound quality of the vibrato is perfect for how I play. One thing I noticed, which I can't confirm for sure, but I think the buffer in this pedal might has some issues with buffers in other pedals. For example, I have a Klon style overdrive pedal (J Rockett Archer) which also has a buffer. If I have the Archer before this Vibrato pedal in my chain, then at times I hear a humming/whining sound. I believe it is the two buffers interfering with each other. That is the only pedal that I have it doesn't get along with. The overdrives I have on my board at this moment don't have any issues with it. Otherwise, works great!

I have quite a few pedals in my pedal board,but this one has all other vibrato,or tremolo pedals beat hands down.I record from my personal studio,and actually have the time to get to know this pedal,and have grown to love it,and have found that when you find something that works exactly how you want it to,you hang onto it.Another good thing is that my CRITICS have begun to lighten up a little,after hearing the results of this invention.I have no choice but to recommend it.

I purchased this out of nostalgia more than filling a blank spot in my rig. When I was first learning to play guitar in a band setting, a friend/bandmate had an original VB-2. We mostly did covers of the 120 Minutes set. Chorus and Tremolo were essential. When we attempted Smashing Pumpkins "Suffer", the VB-2 was the cornerstone of the band! The same guy also had a PN-2 (Tremolo/Pan). I was obsessed with both of those pedals. Unfortunately, they were pretty rare and only had a short run. Used prices were [and are] pretty steep due to the mythic, cult status of original VB-2's

In buying the VB-2W, I was most interested in reproducing some of the crazier, extreme settings of the VB-2--looking for another toy in a studio setting. I love it on my Nord Electro. The VB-2W is everything I obsessed about with the original VB-2. The VB-2W is pure, living, buttery analog tone. You can get near perfect with digital emulations, but generally I prefer to interact directly with knobs and switches.

Improvements on the VB-2 include the stock/custom switch. That adds an interesting variation of depth to play with. Custom mode sounds thicker and deeper than stock (or vintage). Also, there seems to be less delay in the Latch/Unlatch modes than I remember, but I haven't had an original VB-2 around in YEARS. Overall, the tone and noise possibilities are lovely with the VB-2W!

My main critique is that this is somewhat expensive for an effect that has specific appeal and arguable practicality. In some settings it might be a necessary addition to a rig. However, for the space it takes up on a pedalboard, someone could almost fit an Eventide H9. Also, you could buy a more versatile, small board of cheap pedals (including the Behringer copy of the VB-2, the UV300) for the price of the VB-2W. Though, it's a good deal for a VB-2. Vintage VB-2's still go for two or even three times the price of the Waza. That seems to be some of the drive behind the Waza series: BOSS attempting to meet a demand for limited supply [EXPENSIVE used/resale] as well as factory customized versions of their most modified pedals.

My other issue is BOSS chose "DEPTH" and not "RATE" for the expression pedal. I anticipate it being a relatively easy mod to perform in the future, but I find it curious why it wasn't incorporated. Vibrato is not exactly a subtle effect; you set it once, generally. For expression purposes, "RATE" would have been much more useful.

Now, maybe they'll release a PN-2W? Maybe a CE-2W??
