This Tube-based Pedal Puts You in the Driver’s Seat

With the Tube Pilot, TC Electronic revives a legendary overdrive pedal from the early '80s. The pedal's familiar black-and-tan design is warm and inviting, as is its tone. At Sweetwater, we appreciate the super-simple control layout: with just two knobs, it’s easy to dial in an ear-grabbing sound. Keep the Tube Drive control low for bluesy licks and dime it for velvety, modern leads. Once you find the right drive setting, level match with the Output Level knob. The secret to the Tube Pilot’s great tone is a real 12AX7 vacuum tube that injects a dose of old-school character into your signal. So, grab a TC Electronic Tube Pilot Overdrive today and propel your tone to altitudes unknown!

TC Electronic Tube Pilot Overdrive Features:

  • Real-deal tube overdrive based on a classic design
  • 12AX7 tube adds extra character
  • Tube Drive controls how hard you push the tube
  • Out Level knob reigns in the master volume
  • True bypass switching leaves your tone untouched when the effect is off
  • Sturdy housing easily handles normal wear and tear

Reviews

depends on your amp...
i have two tube amp heads, Orange Dark Terror, Laney Cub Head... Works awesome in my Laney Cub head, lots of headroom, great tone, glassy notes, greatest overdrive i have tested in this amp ... but in my Orange its Buzzy, no sustain , its no match ...

If you get the chance try it first, you may love it or hate it, and I LOVE WHAT THIS OVERDRIVE DOES IN MY LANEY CUB HEAD

... dont get me wrong, its worth every penny, i would buy it again if stolen ...

Nie pedal for high gain
Great little pedal at the right price. I bought it to slightly dirty up my 335 through my Deluxe, but found that it has a lot more potential - especially gettin really high gain tones with a solidbody.
Wish I Would Have Known About This Pedal Before
This is an incredibly good pedal for the price and will assuredly make almost any SS amp sound somewhat like and behave like a Tube Amp. I figured for the price it was worth a try after reading so many good reviews about it. Expectations were reasonable, but I'll be damned if it doesn't work exceptionally well. Is it the same as playing through a good tube amp? Not exactly. Yet, it's good enough that I would encourage anyone to try it and, hopefully, you'll be just as impressed as I am. Currently, using it to play out through an FRFR amp/pa speaker in stereo with my Fender Tube 57 Custom Champ as the 'other (main) amp'. I use a switcher to play through two amps sometimes or to loop a rhythm traCk and then play back lead on a separate amp. So, comparing this side-by-side with a really good tube amp.....well, the Fender's better, but it is a superb complement in ev every way.

Awesome!
I love this pedal. It simply delivers pure tone. Between the two easy to adjust knobs, I can perfectly dial in the amount of saturation to break-up I want, and at the volume I want it. The harmonics on the break-up are really rich and creamy. I like the super-saturated sound that is always on the verge of breaking and then breaks on loud notes or crunchy chords. This pedal delivers.
One important note- it does have a real tube in it, and I believe that tube receives power even when you are not using the pedal, so un plug your pedal when not using- it will prolong tube life and save energy.
great for the money
this pedal give a fairly warm tube tone despite some online video reviews stating it is crispy and bright... I'm actually running it via a solid state amp with clean tone and it warms it up and provides a fat edgy range of tonal boost. I'm running it
