Attenuate Your Amp, Record Direct with Speaker Simulation, and More

Play your tube amplifier at neighbor-friendly volume levels, or play without a speaker cabinet at all, with the Two Notes Torpedo Captor reactive load box, direct box, attenuator, and speaker simulator. Based on the acclaimed Torpedo Reload, the Torpedo Captor is your solution for attenuating your amp's volume as well as sending your tone direct to a PA or recording system. Suitable for amps up to 100 watts, the Torpedo Captor's -20dB attenuator allows for cranked-amp tones at lower volume levels. And built-in speaker simulation allows you to record the full sonic intensity of your amplifier direct to your DAW, without miking up a speaker cabinet.

Get cranked-amp tones at reasonable volume levels

Whether you want to keep stage volume down or desire quieter recording sessions without sacrificing your amp's tone, the Two Notes Torpedo Captor is an outstanding solution. Put it between your tube amplifier head and your speaker cabinet, and you'll be able to crank your amp while attenuating its output by -20dB.

A smart tool for a variety of stage setups and gig situations

You can use the Torpedo Captor without any attenuation as well — at that point it becomes a simple solution for splitting your guitar tone, driving a speaker cab at full volume onstage while also allowing you to inject speaker-simulated tone direct to a PA or recording device. The two preset analog speaker sims in the Torpedo Captor are specifically voiced for guitar and bass. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer to learn more about how you can tailor your Torpedo Captor to suit your needs.

Reviews

FINALLY, I can practice and play in my Basement without disturbing everyone - and still get the sound of "feel" of that Marshall tone !
I recently upgraded the speaker cabinet I had been using with my Marshall DSL 20watt head. Even on the 10 watt setting I was unable to really get the tone I was looking for and play the amp loud enough to REALLY HEAR IT and FEEL IT.

After speaking with Josh at Sweetwater, he steered me away from a "cheaper" attenuator and we went with the Two Notes Torpedo 16 (for the 16ohm cab) WOW!! What a difference!

I can now play at home in my "HAPPY PLACE" without disturbing the family, the dog or the neighbors. (Not too worried about the neighbors)

I can mow "FEEL THE BOOM" while playing at a volume that pushes the amp but doesn't make my ears bleed!

Once again, Sweetwater delivers (no pun intended) with a great product and a 1st Class Customer Service Experience!

SWEETWATER (and Josh) ROCKS, and NOW, SO DO I !!!

Great for Apartments!
Recently moved into an apartment so cranking my amp isn't really an option but modeling doesn't do it for me. The captor let's me keep all the feel of my real amp but record silently. The built in cabinet emulation works well enough but adding a cab IR is the way to go. I'm using the captor in conjunction with an Ac15c1 and a Mooer Radar for cab IR.

Absolute Must Have if you want to record your tube amps silently
I have a couple of tube amps but I am not in the position to hook them up, dampen the sound, and then play loud at odd hours due to my work schedule. This lets you plug your amp's speaker output and tames it so you can plug into an interface on your laptop or computer. It's the sound of the tube amp itself so be sure to grab an IR loader or cabinet simulator so your recordings don't sound like a hornet's nest. Could not be happier with my purchase
Attenuator for Blackstar Studio 10
I use this to attenuate my Blackstar Studio 10 for quiet play in my bedroom. I can crank the amp into the sweetspot and not bother my sleeping wife. I don't regularly use the direct out but I tested it with my tascam mixer into some JBL studio monitors and it sounded great. The cabinet emulation was a tiny bit different from the real speaker/cabinet but to my ear sounded very good. The manual says it is based on a British Vintage 4 X 12.
Music background: Writing and playing music is my hobby
Just what I needed
I got this to work with my PRS HDRX20 amp. Like many have stated in other reviews the Torpedo does a great job at taming the 20 watts of power from my amp! So now I can push full volume without neighbors two streets over being forced to listen to my late night Blues jams!!
