A Standard Approach to Fender’s Original Design

When you’re ready to experience quintessential Fender design and playability, look no further than the Fender Standard Telecaster. Built with the player in mind, the standard design allows beginners and aficionados alike to experience essential Fender features that make the brand’s guitars the first choice of so many Sweetwater guitarists. With a satin-finished and time-tested modern C-shaped neck and a 9.5-inch-radius this guitar is immensely comfortable for both chords and individually fretted notes. The Standard Ceramic Single-coil Tele pickups offer the iconic Tele tone, with high-output ceramic magnets lending to a more aggressive modern sound. Whether you’re buying your first guitar or looking to add some Tele twang to your collection, the Standard Telecaster offers all the playability, tonality, and style a Fender guitar can provide.

Around from the start

The Telecaster is an evolution of the very first Fender design, the 1949 Esquire, and has become one of the most widely used designs in music from country to metal. With its flat top, single-cut design, and ability to obtain criminally low-string action, the Telecaster is a versatile guitar suitable for any player. This Standard Telecaster is a no-frills representation of the long-running instrument, capturing the beloved style and sound in one approachable guitar.

A range of tones

With two ceramic single-coil pickups, the Standard Tele offers a spectrum of tonal variety. The Standard Ceramic Single-coil Tele pickups supply bright, snappy, clean tones at home in any genre but are beloved by country artists. The higher-output ceramic magnets can push your amp into crunchier tones that are perfect for more aggressive genres. This versatile instrument makes the perfect platform for experimenting with your sound and dialing in your setup. Use it to practice or perform across various styles with multiple techniques.

C-shaped perfection

The Standard Telecaster's neck sports Fender's much-loved modern C shape. Combined with the 9.5-inch radius of the fretboard, this neck is excellent at reducing tension in your hand. Easy to play, the maple neck fits comfortably in the hand, allowing plenty of room to fret complex chords, pick out simple melodies, or shred through scales. The satin finish is smooth without being tacky, keeping your movements fluid, while the Indian laurel fretboard adds a splash of darkness to the guitar’s aesthetic.

Fender Standard Telecaster Features:

  • Standard design offers Fender style with essential Telecaster playability and features
  • Satin-finished modern C maple neck maximizes speed and comfort
  • 9.5-in. fingerboard radius is comfortable, smooth, and accessible
  • Standard Ceramic Single-coil Tele pickups for iconic snappy tone with high enough output to push your amp

Reviews

Great Fretwork - Good Guitar - but Has a Few Quirks
This is definitely a well built guitar. The fretwork is superior from MIM Fender guitars. There is a design flaw on the Tele (the bridge string spacing) and the guitar I bought had some issues with the nut. For details, please watch the video review.

nice, about time
Been wanting a Tele for a long time and finally bought his one. Sure, am glad I did. Arrived sooner than expected delivery date, well packaged. Straight out of the box it played really well. Can't say enough about it just a great guitar.
Smooth
I'm in love. Plays like a more expensive guitar. Maple fretboard is nicez

Started rough, Finished smooth.
Picked up a new Indonesian yellow Tele to finish the collection a month ago. Tried a couple of them and they both had string buzz. Picked the least buzzy one and headed home. A quick check revealed the nut slot on the A string was cut way too deep, causing the buzz. Filled the slot (super glue mixed with sanded nut dust) and used a nut file to correct the depth. This is why the 1.5 stars were removed.

Leveled the frets, adjusted bridge heights and set intonation. Please have a guitar tech do this if you haven't done these steps before.

A month on... My other guitars are feeling ignored. It looks and plays like butter. The stock pickups and controls have a good range from clean to a fair amount of distortion.

Guitar
Great guitar, plays well and it feels great. The action is fantastic on it. The one thing I did not like is the hum from the single coils pickups. I wish fender would do something about that. I hade to purchase noiseless pickups after the fact to get rid f the hum. Maybe fender does that as a sales gimmick to sell noiseless pickups.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
