Lovingly Crafted Tribute to Chrissie Hynde’s Treasured '65 Telecaster

An emotive singer and commanding frontwoman, Chrissie Hynde is also a knockout guitarist, churning out the propulsive rhythms that helped to define the Pretender’s raw and insistent sound. Chrissie’s axe of choice? Why, the Telecaster, of course. The Fender Chrissie Hynde Telecaster is a special, so special tribute to one of rock’s most recognizable Teles — a slab-bodied stalwart in Iced Metallic Blue with a chrome pickguard, perfectly Road Worn to mimic Chrissie’s beloved original. Beyond its signature good looks, the Chrissie Hynde Telecaster is a rock ’n’ roll machine, equipped with vintage-style '50s Tele pickups and manufactured with period-correct appointments for period-correct tone. Tap into the musical powerhouse that is the Chrissie Hynde Telecaster from Fender!

Road Worn alder body offers seasoned feel and aesthetics

The Chrissie Hynde Telecaster features a balanced-sounding alder body — a mainstay on Fender bodies that has a distinctive tone that’s at the center of some of rock ’n’ roll’s most enduring classics. A Road Worn nitrocellulose lacquer finish gives this solidbody electric guitar the look and feel of Chrissie’s well-loved original. A 1-ply chrome pickguard, a 6-barrel bridge with stainless steel saddles, and vintage-style locking tuners put the perfect finishing touches on this Tele, supplying you with seasoned aesthetics plus rock-solid performance and tuning stability.

Vintage-style '50s pickups deliver classic Tele spank

Stocked with vintage-style '50s single-coil pickups, the Chrissie Hynde Telecaster is perfect for the player who desires the authentic sound of the first Telecasters to roll off the line. The heart and soul of these pickups is the Alnico 3 magnets that deliver a sweet midrange and tight bass that never gets overbearing. The enamel-coated wire used for winding the pickups and the cloth output wire are period-correct appointments. And the tin-plated copper base plate of the bridge pickup is what gives the vintage-style '50s Tele pickups that unmistakable Tele spank!

Mid-'60s "C"-shaped neck ensures easy playability

The Chrissie Hynde Telecaster is a treat to play, largely due to its mid-'60s "C"-shaped neck profile. A pleasantly stout neck, guitarists at Sweetwater find that its increased mass yields an incredibly natural feel, as well as excellent sustain. Its 7.25-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard is complete with 21 vintage-tall frets that feel incredible to play. The neck secures to the guitar’s alder body with a traditional 4-bolt plate, emblazoned with Chrissie’s initials, and includes a synthetic bone nut.

Reviews

This Tele grows on you.
The look, feel and especially the sound of this Tele grows on you over time....in a good way. As another reviewer said, and I agree, it does take pedals well. I like the subtle aging(don't we all wish we could do that with our own looks!) the color, the rosewood fretboard, vintage fender barrel saddles, stays in tune, etc. I bought mine used---which is a great option if you can do that---and was not fully convinced at the time, but went for it anyway. I was not disappointed, especially when I ran it through my '74 Princeton Reverb----I don't think you will be either with your favorite amp. I did not buy mine because of Chrissie Hynde, but I recommended it for sure to add to your 'Tele' stable of sounds.
Music background: Professional musician
Super clean pickups
Amazing guitar. Pickups are so clean, but handle pedal effects very well. The neck feels great, smooth player.
Chrissie Hynde Telecaster
I was browsing the site, looking at several different telecasters... the looks of this guitar really caught my eye.
A lot of people might be deterred by the idea of paying this much for a Mexican tele, but i thought the value was there.
The neck and body are both finished in nitrocellulose, the body had has some cool finish checking but none of the nicks, dings or dents found on other road worn guitars.
It looks like one that was played and loved, but still well cared for.
I really dig the look of the worn chrome pickguard, and worn hardware.
You get a rosewood fretboard, a lot of the recent Fender guitars are using Pau Ferro.
You also get locking tuners and a deluxe Fender Hard shell case, a value right there.
I'm not a huge Pretenders fan, i know the hits, that's about it. I didn't buy it because of Chrissie or The Pretenders...
I bought it because it's an awesome Telecaster at a fair price in my opinion. It looks and sounds great!
