Realistic Tube Tone in a Compact Package

No matter where you are, you can plug into a Yamaha THR30 II Wireless and experience realistic tube tone. This battery-powered combo amplifier includes a full arsenal of guitar and bass amp emulations, along with mic models for your acoustic-electric and flat modes for everything else. Ditch your pedalboard — the THR30 II Wireless’s 3-band EQ, and a great-sounding selection of modulation effects, echoes, and reverbs, have you covered. Bluetooth support enables you to stream backing tracks — with full Hi-Fi quality — through the THR30 II Wireless’s stereo speakers. The THR30 II Wireless also includes plug-and-play USB connectivity for recording and playback, along with a built-in wireless receiver for performing cable-free.

Loaded with essential amp tones and onboard effects

Yamaha built the THR30 II Wireless for creatively combining tones and effects. Choose from one of 15 amp models. You can also plug in your bass or acoustic-electric guitar, and there’s even a setting that bypasses the modeling altogether. The THR30 II Wireless’s modulation effects live on a second knob, and its echoes and reverbs live on a third. The result is a full amplifier rig worth of effects and tone combinations. And thanks to Yamaha’s Virtual Circuitry Modeling, the THR30 II Wireless emulates each component in each amp model and effect. The guitarists here at Sweetwater have high praise for the THR30 II Wireless — it gives you super-realistic sound and feel.

Bluetooth support for playback, preset editing, and more

Bluetooth support gives the THR30 II Wireless capabilities that soundly outclass its predecessor. Fire up your preferred streaming service on a smart device and jam along with your favorite tunes. Take a deep dive into the THR30 II Wireless’s amp models — wirelessly — via Yamaha’s THR Remote app, and create your own custom presets. You can also access the THR30’s compressor and noise gate for more tone-tweaking possibilities. And since the THR30 II Wireless features five user settings recall buttons, you can take up to five of your favorite tones with you anywhere.

Battery powered, so you can take your music anywhere

Want to busk on a street corner? Load some backing tracks onto your smartphone, grab your battery-powered Yamaha THR30 II Wireless, and you’re good to go. What about your next long car trip? Thanks to its internal, rechargeable battery, you’ll be able to rock out from state to state. Even if you’re flying, the entire THR30 II Wireless fits easily in your carry-on, so you’ll be ready to rock out as soon as your plane lands. Near an outlet? The THR30 II Wireless can also run on AC power.

Instrument wireless made blissfully simple

Thanks to its built-in wireless receiver, the THR30 II Wireless, makes cutting the cord blissfully simple. Fire up your Line 6 Relay G10T transmitter (sold separately), and you’re ready to go — no setup fuss, no fumbling with batteries or menus, just plug-and-play simplicity. You can even charge the G10T in the amp's input jack!

Reviews

Fun Practice Amp
Great tool overall. It's fairly easy to dial in a sound that's not bad. It's portable, bluetooth-enabled and has a battery so you can be independent of a plug for a few hours. It has a built-in receiver that supports the Line 6 G10TII transmitter. So you can dispense with a guitar cable too. Has a nice look so I'm more likely to leave it out and readily available when friends come over to jam. There are apps for both Android and iOS as well as Mac and Windows.

Negatives are:

- documentation isn't good
- lack of a USB cable shipping with the amp (which is understandable - given the many permutations of USB - but frustrating). You'll need a USB cable in order to upgrade the software at the very least. And figuring out what cable to get will be a bit challenging. The Sweetwater site has a Yamaha thr30-ii-firmware-update-guide that indicates that you need an Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter. That won't work (at least by itself). I've included a picture showing how much larger the connector is then the Yamaha's USB port (I had the Apple device hooked up for something else so I could see it wouldn't work for the port). Yamaha needs a USB-B 2.0 male connector. That's not in the doc that ships with the amp and it's difficult to find on the Yamaha site but that's what it is. Yamaha reference manual states "USB 3.0 cables cannot be used".
- The apps (phone and computer) are odd looking and spartan. Not a huge deal. They do seem to function fine. You just have to puzzle out the user experience. It's a paged app where you can swipe to access additional pages. On page 2 (iPhone app) you can see "GATE" section and a "EFFECT|Chorus" section. This indicates that you are currently editing "Chorus". You click on "EFFECT|Chorus" to select a different effect.

I play music for a living and I knew this was going to be an amazing investment. It sounds fantastic. All I do is get compliments on how good it sounds with a clean tone. Worth every penny. Only thing is I wish you didn't have to but a case separately considering how nice these are. But hey just get the case lol.
Best Bedroom Amp: 7 months later
When I was researching about different amps for bedroom use, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the THR exceeded those expectations. It sounds amazing even at low volumes with minimal fiddling. It even has the ability to blend the guitar and aux audio with two different volume knobs, which is super useful if you like to play along with backing tracks. There are a ton of modelling options with additional control and effect options in the THR Remote app. Love the amp and love the white color.

P.S. Don't be fooled by the app reviews—it is no-nonsense and straightforward unlike other amps nowadays.

The MUST HAVE practice amp
I love this practice amp! I went through a couple of options trying to find the perfect "all around" practice amp solution for both guitar and bass. I tried a headrush FRFR connected to my hx stomp. Had a nice small set up but still did not feel comfortable to practice and let alone, early in the day (5am). I tried a Phil Jones bass cub pro and while it sounded amazing, a little on the bulky side to have on my small desktop. Upside to both was of course the fact that they could get loud and be used for a small stage monitor in case. Anyways, I thought I would give this a try and I love it. What really sells this one for me is the portability of it and the wireless power feature. I can move this amp anywhere I want without the power chord needing to connected, plug in my bass, or guitar, and be ready to jam. It has Bluetooth as well so you can sync up to play along with your favorite tracks. Once again, an amazing product to help spark a greater desire for practice. I would highly recommend!

This, like the original, exceeded my expectations
I went turn a few modeling amps when I started guitar before ending up with a THR10. I was blown away by the sound and very surprised at how well it worked as an interface, how much better and analog the controls worked rather than needing an app or menu for everything, and how a couple simple features, like separate output volume for guitar & aux, and including dry channels in the usb interface, made a big difference in usability.

I've since been thru a few tube amps and what seems like a million pedals... and wanted to return my focus from shipping to playing. So I sold a bunch and made one more purchase... this THR30ii. I still have my '73 Fender Champ one drive pedal and a cheap looper when I feel like I "need" tubes... but this thing just works so well, sounds so good, and is so **** convenient that I am reminded how much I loved my old little lunchbox... and then amazed by how far they've come with the upgrade. The wireless is just so convenient. I've had a Katana Air(returned it because my THR10 sounded so much better) and Waza Airs(which are amazingly convenient but I never liked the sound) and always loved the no-wires thing... and its no different here except its part pif an amp I really enjoy.

This sounds better than my old 10, and way better than it should... it has so many options as an amp, audio player, interface(works great with an iPhone and Loopy Pro or Quantiloop BTW), and the apps on the computer(which works wirelessly as well) and the phone... just a ton of features and capabilities... but also simple and can just be used with the knobs on top if you prefer. Yamaha blew me a way again.

...and I also still like the little glowy LEDs behind the grill.
