Compact and Functional Starter e-Kit

For quiet practices, a smaller footprint, and budget-friendly sample controlling, drummers around Sweetwater recommend entering the e-drumming realm with the V-Drums TD-02K Electronic Drum Set from Roland. You’ll receive a standard 5-piece configuration (including the bass drum pedal) to keep your creative options open, topped off with hi-hat, crash, and ride cymbal pads. The TD-02K Module houses a healthy 16 factory drum kits, a metronome, and even allows you to train and test your time with five coach function modes — perfect for percussive pupils! Expand your sample range by connecting the USB-B output to your computer software’s drum presets and record the sounds you want on your own terms. For personalized practice and jam sessions with your favorite tracks, an 1/8-inch aux input and a Bluetooth adapter slot afford you the freedom to connect your phone however you like. Talk about a springboard!

Inside the TD-02K e-drum brain

The 16-kit selection of the Roland TD-02K Module supplies some versatility to match most rhythmic moods without overcomplicating matters. Beyond its presets, however, are a handful of helpful tools for aiding beginners in nailing down their technique. Check out Time Check — both the easy and hard modes! Then, start improving your entrances and stick confidence with Quiet Count, Auto Up/Down, and Change-Up modes. Want to set the pace? No problem! The metronome gives you the choice of five rhythm types, 15 sounds, and a tempo range from 20 to 260 bpm. The TD-02K is an ideal practice companion that will not just improve your playing, but will also help make the transition to an acoustic kit smooth and comfortable down the line.

Pad-less pedals and adjustable hardware

Part of the beauty of the TD-02K is its universally compact design. Since it utilizes the FD-1 and KT-1 hi-hat and kick drum control pedals, you won’t have to maneuver around bulky kick pads or extra stands that take up space. The same can be said for the MDS-MINI Drum Stand, providing a 3-leg rack-style foundation for your drum pads, cymbal pads, and module. But just because it’s small, it doesn’t mean you can’t configure! Simply loosen any of the boom arms or drum pad mounts, and slide, tilt, or turn accordingly. Apartments, bedrooms, that tiny crowded corner in the basement — there’s plenty of room for the TD-02K.

e-drumming made easy!

Every drummer’s journey is different, and e-drumming can be a leap into a world completely unfamiliar to many. However, whether you’re just starting out or looking to dip your toes into the waters of e-drumming, the TD-02K is your quiet and zero-nonsense compact solution. With such versatile training features in such a small package, you really can’t go wrong in choosing the TD-02K Electronic Drum Set as a starting point. Pull up a chair and start playing today!

Reviews

Excellent Value!!
So, I looked at a lot of kits at this price point. There are a lot of good ones, but I really liked the Roland quality of sound. The samples sound better, to me, than others. At this price, this kit delivers what it should!
Amazing value
I am a singer-songwriter and my main instrument is guitar. I use these in my home studio with EZ drummer software as a trigger to make demos. I also use them to practice my timing. They are very small which works great for me. Grateful for my sales rep Lindsey Becker who is always there to answer my questions.

Sturdy, Great Sound, Easy to Assemble
I bought the Roland TD-02K as a starter kit for an adult learner. The kit was easy to assemble and the 3-leg stand is quite stirdy, while also compact and easy to move. The pads and cymbals are responsive with no audible latency. My reason for choosing this kit over the Alesis kit was the Roland sound module. The 16 included kits present enough variety for a student, and Roland sound quality is superb. The Alesis kist offers mesh heads iunstead of pads, but for student use the zero-maintenance and rugged pads seemed like a good choice. Excellent kit and another first-class experience with Sales Engineer Alberto Rosado Perez, thanks. I won't buy music gear anywhere else.

Great little kit for quiet practice in a space saving enviornment
We purchased this kit for our 14 year old daughter as a Christmas gift. I had a couple of requirements when looking at available kits. Firstly it needed to be quiet. We live in very confined space where an acoustic kit would have been out of the question. Secondly and this relates to the first it needed to have a small footprint. This fits the bill. But it also needed to be durable enough to withstand the abuse that a teenager is going to heap upon it. Time will only tell on that front but being a Roland I am pretty confidant that that wont be an issue. I haven't really played with it too much myself but I did listen to the sound quality and so far it sounds pretty good to me. It's what you would expect of a Roland.

The usit was well packaged and easy enough to assemble so we will see where it goes from here

For my space needs, this was the only choice
Guitar is my primary instrument and I am completely new to drumming. I bought this kit to take an online introductory course because it was compact, inexpensive, electronic, and had the Roland name. It only takes up 3x3 feet. I knew it would have limitations. Now that I've had it for 3 months, I can say that the biggest plus is the size and seamless connectivity to a DAW (either with supplied sounds or as a MIDI trigger) so I could submit homework. It is well made. Sounds and features are limited, but good enough for my needs. The biggest negative is the pedals: they don't trigger reliably, making it difficult to play accurately. It is impossible to get a feel for what using real high hat and kick drum pedals is like. (I went into a store to try a real kit a few times). A second issue I was aware of, but didn't realize how limiting it would be, is the inability to play cross stick; half the homework pieces needed cross stick so I would use cross stick technique but get a snare sound. All the electronic drum kits enabling cross stick and with more realistic pedals were larger and more expensive. In my situation, space limitations made this the only practical option, so on balance I'm giving this a 4.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
