V-Drums Sound and Playability at a Budget-friendly Price

In terms of expressiveness, playability, and sound, drummers at Sweetwater will tell you that Roland V-Drums electronic drum kits have few peers. For players looking for the V-Drums experience at a budget-friendly price, Roland has created the V-Drums TD-07KVX electronic drum set. Inspired by Roland’s flagship TD drum module, the TD-07 module comes preloaded with 25 fantastic factory kits comprising over 140 individual sounds, with 25 user slots for configuring custom kits. The Roland TD-07KVX boasts one PDX-12 12-inch snare pad with independent head and rim zones. There are also three PDX-8 8-inch single-zone tom pads with tunable mesh heads, which deliver a satisfying acoustic-like feel while remaining quiet so you can practice without disturbing family, roommates, or neighbors!

TD-07 module with 25 preset kits

The TD-07 sound module comes loaded with 25 of Roland's latest preset kits, comprising 143 instruments to cover all essential sonic territories, from rock to EDM and beyond. Drum sounds are quick to load up and fast to dial in. Additionally, with 30 select effects, an overhead mic simulator, and pad equalizers, you can tweak the sound of your kit for a drum tone that’s all your own!

MIDI over USB for virtual instruments

If you play virtual instruments, then you'll love the TD-07KVX's MIDI capabilities. A single USB cable connects your V-Drums to your laptop or compatible mobile device. With this functionality, your performances will breathe and pump with the heart of a human drummer, yielding sounds that are guaranteed to stand the test of time. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for more information on how you can put the TD-07KVX’s MIDI capabilities to work for your music.

Tunable mesh snare and tom heads

Like your snare tight for extra rebound? Like your toms to give a little and sticks to sink in? Both these options and extremes on either side of the spectrum are possible with the TD-07KVX's tunable dual-layer mesh heads. Mesh heads have been a hallmark of the V-Drums series for years, and the TD-07KVX doesn't disappoint in that regard. These heads are not only lifelike but also studio quiet. You can plug in your headphones and drum the night away without disturbing the neighbors.

KD-10 kick pad

The tower-style KD-10 features an adaptive playing surface that responds more like an acoustic bass drumhead, providing realistic feedback for attack and dynamics. Its redesigned frame greatly reduces physical movement to minimize flexing and scooting. On a rug or carpet, it's rock solid, with spurs to anchor it in place. The KD-10 accepts single or double pedals, so whatever style of music you're into, this pad delivers.

Loaded with practice features

Five onboard coaching functions, including time check, quiet count, and change-up, can set your drumming feet on a firm foundation or advance your playing skills in no time flat. Whether you're a veteran drummer or it's your first time around the block, the TD-07KVX can take your playing to the next level.

Stream songs and MIDI over Bluetooth

An onboard Bluetooth 4.2 transceiver gives the TD-07KVX the edge for practice and recording. Stream music from your phone to the module wirelessly and play along to your heart's content. When you're ready to bottle that inspiration, the TD-07KVX also features MIDI over Bluetooth to send MIDI note values out to a compatible device. Audio/MIDI over USB is also available.

  • Sounds, pads, and features inspired by Roland's top-level V-Drums

One of the best Electronic Kits ever made!
I got this kit with the intentions of teaching lessons on it and it has turned into so much more! Combined with so many features it has allowed me to create content, lessons, professional recordings and so much more!

If you want to hear what it sounds like look for the video down below!
Music background: Professional musician
Nice as expected
In time, works great
This set is perfect for my needs
This is my first ekit and I'm super impressed with Roland. Very glad I got the upgraded kit with the larger snare and real hi hat. Worth the extra in my opinion. I've played acoustic drums for a while but now my 9yo is taking lessons and I wanted something in the house that we could both use and play with headphones. It was easy to setup and start using, it sounds great and its super fun and easy to play along with music via bluetooth. I highly recommend.

When the hi hat came it wasn't working properly but Sweetwater support is awesome and sent a new one right away - it is working awesome. Should out to Erik the sales engineer and sweetwater support - these guys are great to buy from. They take great care of their customers.
Get this or the TD-27
This kit is amazing. I love the hi hat and the snare along with the kick. Everything is responsive and sounds great. With that being said, there is something that everyone needs to know before buying this.

Although this is a wonderful kit, the TD-7 module really is not good, actually barely listenable. There is about one kit that sounds ok. The reason I chose this kit is because I use EZ drummer 3 to trigger sounds. The sounds I get out of EZ Drummer 3 are unbelievable and the module can't even come close to competing with it. I doubt the TD-27 could either.

Also something to take note of is that you do not, I repeat, do not, get to utilize to the dual zone toms. They have the capability of dual zone, but because of the limitations of the module, you are not able to access it. If you happen to take a step up to the TD 17, you would be able to use dual zone toms along with one extra crash cymbal.

The reason I mentioned stepping up to the TD – 27 is because you can utilize digital pads and positional sensing. Positional sensing means that you can hit the pads in different areas, and it will react how a normal acoustic drum would react. The Td 7 and 17 don't have this feature.

So with that, that's about it. There are many different routes you can take. You can get this kit and then upgrade the module, you can get this kit and keep them and use a VST's. I chose this kit because I really wanted these pads, but if I had more money I would have gone for the TD-27.
Response to previous review
The snare is dual zone (head and rim) and the ride is 3 zone on the 07kvx. Make sure that the module is correctly set (the head/rim setting needs to be "off" this allows for independent sounds for head of rim of snare and cymbals; the 07 module does not allow for dual zone toms even though the pads are dual trigger). I agree that the sounds are not the greatest. But they can be improved. I copied a pre-set kit that came close to what I like ("cafe live"), put it into a user kit and made some changes. Notably, I increased the "release" setting in "transient" in the snare and the toms. This helped a lot by giving the sound more resonance. I used the "dry" ride and made a few changes in the EQ that lowered the gain in the mid frequency (changed to -5) and increased the gain in the high frequency (+4). This brightened the ride somewhat. I've played both the 07 and the 17. The sound is very similar except it seems to my ear that the 17 sounds flatter (especially the snare) than the 07. But, you can make the sounds highly similar through the tuning and muffling settings. If you want to do sound layering or download additional user samples or kits you can only do that with the 17. That is big difference between the two modules IMO.

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
