24-channel, semi-modular design
The Series 68 boasts a similar chassis design to Trident’s Series 78 analog consoles, along with an LED bar-graph meter bridge. That said, the Series 68’s semi-modular design makes it more cost effective than its predecessor. All of its input channels are on individual boards — faders included — each in an 8-channel pack. Subgroups are also on individual boards — faders also included — each in an 8-channel pack. And its master channel is on an individual channel, separated from all of the others.

Flexible, split/inline design
At mixdown, the inline channel strips of the Trident Series 68 accommodate two inputs each. Plus, the split-console-style monitor/group section enables the monitor channels to be used as bus masters, as monitor inputs, or as additional line inputs while mixing. So, what this all amounts to is a generous number of inputs at mixdown. The Series 68’s conventional control layout feels familiar to any engineer who came up on analog consoles, but there’s ample flexibility for integrating it into modern DAW-based studio configurations.
Powerful, flexible 3-band EQs
Ported from the Series 80 consoles, the Series 68’s channel equalizers provide three bands with ±15dB of boost or cut, generally following Trident's classic EQ topography. In addition to sounding great, this EQ provides a great deal of sound-sculpting muscle. The high and low bands are shelving. HF hinge points are selectable at 1kHz and 15kHz; LF at 40Hz and 650Hz. The sweepable mid band is peaking. There's also a 50Hz highpass filter to roll off unwelcome low-frequency mud and rumble.

High quality, wide-bandwidth preamps
The engineers here at Sweetwater love the sound of the Trident Series 68’s high-quality, wide-bandwidth preamps. No matter what you’re tracking, you’ll benefit from loads of headroom, as well as low noise, low distortion, and a high slew rate. You also get 65dB of preamp gain — enough for most modern microphones — and 48V phantom power for your condenser mics.
Feature-packed master section
The Series 68’s master section is straightforward and ensures an unencumbered workflow. It handles all of your monitor management duties and includes main and alternative monitor control, along with mute, dim, and mono controls. Eight subgroups make mixing clusters of inputs a breeze. You also get two 2-track returns, subgroup monitor returns, one stereo auxiliary return, and eight stereo FX returns. Monitoring with cans? No problem. The Series 68 includes an onboard headphone amplifier with a separate gain control. Built-in talkback and a selectable insert return complete the package.
