Vintage Vibe and Verve from Guild

Guild brings back a classic with the T-50 Slim thinline hollowbody guitar. The only non-cutaway body design in the Newark St. Collection, the thinline T-50 features arched maple back, sides, and top, all dressed in a cool sunburst finish that's drenched in vintage details that complete the classic vibe. Guitarists at Sweetwater love the honest-to-goodness vintage tone you get from the T-50 Slim's thin 1.9" body depth combined with an SB1-F single-coil pickup — it's not just classic Guild tone, it's the signature sound of a mid-1960s T-50.

Based on a classic Guild hollowbody

Based on the mid-1960s model, the T-50 Slim hollowbody packs all the mojo that made the original such a popular guitar during the rock revolution. A low-output single-coil dog-eared SB1-F pickup works well with any amp — solid state or tube, new or vintage. The mere 1.9" deep thinline body design gives you great vintage tone that is as ready for rock as it is for country or blues.

Thinline hollowbody for comfortable playing and rich tone

Try as you may, you just can't get the same vibrant, overtone-rich sound of a hollowbody with a traditional solidbody. But instead of giving you a bulky instrument, Guild gave the T-50 Slim a thinline body style that gives you the woody warmth of a hollow instrument plus comfortable playability.

2-piece neck for long-lasting playability

Multi-piece necks are stronger and more rigid than single-piece necks, resisting twisting and warping over the years. The mahogany neck's soft u shape gives you vintage feel and comfortable playability. Treat it well, and you'll get a lifetime of exceptional playability from the Guild T-50 Slim hollowbody.

Guild T-50 Slim Thinline Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Non-cutaway hollowbody guitar with arched all-maple body based on a mid-1960s T-50 model
  • 1.9" body depth is primed for amplification
  • Classic Guild harp tailpiece looks cool and keeps your tuning stable
  • Iconic center-raised headstock and ivory binding round out vintage appointments
  • Low-output SB1-F single-coil dog-eared pickup has a warm, versatile sound
  • Vintage playing feel from the soft u-shaped neck

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Guild T-50 Slim

I hope this might be helpful. This is quite a beautiful guitar and lovely to play. It arrived from Sweetwater with no apparent flaws and set up well. Smooth fret ends. I was curious about the Franz pickup (P90). I like it a lot and in my use of it I am experiencing no background hum. I mainly rely on neck pickups, but there is a lot of range in the tone control to handle various needs. The single pickup is sufficiently versatile for me. I am quite happy. I use the T-50 interchangeably with my Ibanez GB10-SE, equally sweet and pleasant to play. I do like smaller lower bouts in hollow bodies.
After two months I changed the original round wound T-50 strings to D'Addario flat wound Chromes of the same gauge. To me it is a great improvement in feel and more in character with the rest of this guitar, to me at any rate. Guild might consider shipping the T-50 with the Chromes as Ibanez does with the GB. The fretboard benefitted from oiling.
Although the tailpiece is handsome I found it to be a bit fiddly for changing strings. Upon removing the original strings one of the ball ends got cocked in the narrow slot of the tailpiece and had to be pried out with a small screwdriver. So I carefully tried to align the ball ends when installing new strings. Minor annoyance.
I chose this over the PRS SE hollow body because of the novelty of the Franz pickup. I also drew on my experience playing a vintage Guild archtop that impressed me and got me interested in archtops. It ends well.

Guild T-50 Slim

First Guild (Not my last) it's lightweight, surprisingly cool acoustic tone for when you want to just pick it up and play on the couch, and sounds great plugged in with the p-90. It has a nice warm tone. Love it

Guild t50

This was a real surprise...it was my first guitar I purchased from Sweetwater and I am very pleased with the results....

Fantastic guitar

This has become my favorite guitar to hold and play. The hollowbody resonance is fantastic being so thin. But being so thin makes it very comfortable and very lightweight to hold. The single P90 make it simple to get a beautiful jazzy/bluesy tone. The workmanship is gorgeous and just looks stunning hanging on my wall. To me this guitar just reeks of my kind of vibe.. of course that is purely subjective.. lol
Music background: wanna be guitar god

Guild T-50 Slim Hollowbody Electric Guitar - Vintage Sunburst

What is there to say? Guild Newark's are great players at a fair price. This plays every bit as well as my Savoy & my Manhattan. Do remember however, this model is barely a semi hollow. It seems to have a little less depth from front to back than my other semi's. That said, with the right EQ is sounds much more hollow than it is. Whatever the p90 is, well, I have a few others & this one is about my fave. If you are new to Sweetwater, just call them up, ask for Wayne Davis & tell him I sent you, LOL. Great service with free, really fast shipping. Got here 2 days early! Great Packing.
Music background: Played since I was 11. 60 something now. Let me use my fingers here,,, 68!
