Flexible Studio Sonics Topped with a Majestic Mango Cap
This Limited Edition PRS Studio takes a tropical detour from typical Studio specs, sporting exotic tonewoods and collector-grade appointments throughout. This solidbody electric guitar sports a finely figured mango cap atop a mahogany body, retaining the tone of a traditional Studio and beaming with a distinctive visual appeal. Equipped with PRS’s proprietary Narrowfield pickups in the neck and middle positions and a McCarty III bridge pickup, the PRS Studio offers chimey single-coil sounds, vintage scooped tones, and the awesome power of a screaming bridge humbucker — all in one sleek solidbody. A push-pull Tone control and a 5-way blade switch give you instant control over the Studio’s formidable tone arsenal, delivering seven combinations that will cover any genre, from classic rock to edgy fusion. And of course, being a PRS, the ziricote-topped mahogany neck supplies effortless playability. For the guitarist seeking a do-it-all 6-string that stands out from the crowd, it simply doesn't get any better than this PRS Limited Edition Studio.

Modified with a figured mango wood top
Right out of the gate, this Limited Edition Studio bucks traditional PRS trends with its gorgeous mango wood top. This exotic tonewood boasts an almost quilted appearance with dense figuring and deep grain lines that demand your attention. What's more, PRS tells Sweetwater that while mango certainly stands out visually from maple, it delivers a similar tonal profile — a fact that’s sure to please longtime adherents of the PRS’s classic maple-topped mahogany formula.

A sonic arsenal under your command
The PRS Studio is all about tonal dexterity, thanks to its complement of proprietary PRS pickups. The Narrowfield, deployed in the neck and middle positions of the Studio, is a remarkable pickup that delivers the best characteristics of a humbucker, a P-90, a traditional single-coil, and a mini humbucker. Technically, the Narrowfield’s dual coils classify it as a humbucking design, while its svelte form factor is reminiscent of a mini humbucker (with which, perhaps not surprisingly, it shares certain tonal characteristics). Mini humbuckers — especially in the neck position — have long been prized for their ability to maintain clarity in overdrive conditions while bucking the hum.
Stationed at the bridge is a McCarty III, first seen on the limited-run Private Stock 40th Anniversary McCarty Dragon guitar. This vintage-inspired pickup offers full, warm tones with vocal clarity. Throaty but clear, the McCarty III produces a crisp, chimey, clean tone that’s easy to pull grit from with the volume knob or aggressive pick attack. When overdriven, the tone is thick, punchy, yet articulate, perfect for complex chords or searing lead lines.
Primed for detailed tonal sculpting
When it comes to nailing down that perfect tone, the Studio is equipped with a push-pull Tone control that splits the pickup coils for welcome access to sparkly single-coil tones. To complement, a 5-way pickup selector switch serves up spanky reverse-polarity tones in positions 2 and 4, giving players the flexibility to get as detailed as necessary for the set list or studio track at hand. The immense flexibility of the Studio’s unique pickup and switching arrangement gives you an instrument that can serve up any electric guitar sound you could ever need!

Pattern profile neck for optimized playability
The PRS Studio is spec’d with PRS’s Pattern profile neck. A hallmark of PRS quality, neck shapes are, of course, critical to your playing experience. Perfected after years of prototyping, the Pattern neck is an updated Wide Fat PRS neck style based on neck shapes Paul Reed Smith designed in the 1970s and ’80s for Carlos Santana, Peter Frampton, and Howard Leese of Heart. Fast and comfortable, the Pattern profile always feels just right. In reality, most electric guitarists employ a combination of thumb-over and thumb-behind fretting-hand positions in their playing, and the Pattern profile lets you switch seamlessly between the two.
