Experience Electronic Drumming in Its Prime!

The Strata Prime electronic drum set is Alesis’s most advanced and playable kit yet, boasting an extensive 6-piece drum pad configuration with four accompanying cymbal pads for fantastic versatility. Shallow shells plus a full-size bass drum create a maneuverable yet authoritative feel when commanding the Strata Prime, while its tunable, dual-zone, and mesh-headed engineering plays with impeccable realism and responds with natural rebound, giving seasoned percussionists an at-home feel behind the kit. The brain of the Strata Prime is the massive touchscreen Prime module, driven by a powerful BFD sound engine containing 75 preset kits, 440 sounds, and all the customization freedom for drummers to design and save their creations. Complete with mounts and an expansive curved rack system, the Strata Prime is outfitted to take electronic drumming to a whole new level!

Ultra-lifelike pads and cymbals

Each pad within the Strata Prime electronic drum kit is designed with mesh heads and dual-zone playability. Mesh rebounds with much greater natural response than its rubber drum pad counterparts, effortlessly mimicking the response of a Mylar-equipped acoustic drum but at a mere fraction of the sound. The dual zones offer a dimensionality that plays just like the different parts of your tom or snare would, so transitioning from acoustic to the Strata Prime is a cinch. The six shells are 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, and 14-inch toms with a 14-inch snare and 20-inch kick drum.

The included cymbals also play with an exciting degree of realism. With 3-zone designs and 360-degree triggering, both the ride and crash cymbals react with impressive bell and bow sounds, attacking with presence and washing with true musical complexity. The hi-hat cymbal pad fits perfectly atop its magnetic controller for detailed patterning that offers total real-world rhythmic accuracy. The included cymbals are two 16-inch crashes, an 18-inch crash/ride, and a 14-inch hi-hat. All pieces of the cymbal and shell puzzle attach with ease to the included 4-post steel rack system with locking clamps.

Hi-hat stand and kick pedal not included.

Detailed Prime drum module

The Prime drum module is a true force to be reckoned with, and it starts with its remarkable number of included kits and sounds. From studio and live drum kits to world music, electronic pads, and beyond, 75 preset kits serve up any starting point you could ask for. With 440 kit pieces to work with, an additional 1,092 articulations for customizing, and a near-endless number of user kit slots, you can craft and save countless drum kits and percussion arrays that all speak your language. That’s 40GB of provided sounds with a total of 128GB of included storage, and it’s all thanks to Alesis’s stellar BFD sound engine and multi-core processor. Plus, Sweetwater players love the revitalized and customizable trigger engine that uses automatic crosstalk filtering for clean hits every time.

The Prime module also boasts a massive 10.1-inch touchscreen display for easy navigability, with comprehensive dial controls and buttons to provide a totally intuitive user experience. A 3-way volume control levels the kit, your auxiliary music input, and your headphones separately for a balanced experience on your terms while also supplying individual 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch headphone inputs to work with your setup. Record, practice your time with the onboard metronome, and effortlessly connect to multiple destinations via USB-A, USB-B, MIDI, and balanced XLR. To top it all off, the Strata Prime includes a 90-day Drumeo subscription, a 30-day/60-lesson Melodics Premium subscription, and the BFD Player desktop app to let you further expand your available sounds through a virtual expansion pack.

A kit of all trades

While certainly more advanced than most, the Alesis Strata Prime electronic drum set makes transitioning from acoustic drum kits an entirely painless process, courtesy of its wide-diameter pads, physical shells, and expansive nature. For the seasoned drummer, this kit is electronic drumming heaven! For intermediate players and those looking to break into the rhythmic world with a superior, all-inclusive kit, the Strata Prime is the only example you’ll ever need. Perfect for quiet practicing and incredible versatility while recording, the Strata Prime makes an excellent candidate for rehearsal and studio spaces. And thanks to its detailed connection bay, you can take the Strata Prime onstage with ease!

Reviews

Great drum kit for the value
My first drum kit that I ever received was an Alesis Nitro Mesh kit (which are sadly not made anymore) and it wasn't great. But this kit? It's amazing. It has 74 different kit presets, and you can make your own combinations very easily. While the drum set is BIG, it actually feels like a real drum set, rather than a toy which is a definite bonus. And while I haven't tried out any of the competitors at this price range, I can definitely say that this kit holds up to the standards I put my acoustic kit to. Definitely worth it if you've got a bit of room and money to spare.

Almost there...
Using this in a church setting for mobility purposes and a teen band. Sounds pretty great! Triggers seem to do well. UI is a little clunky. We're only using a two tom setup to match the kit we have on our stage - yet the image on the screen shows the full kit with expansion kit. Maybe there's a setting to customize the display, but I have yet to find it and doubt it exists. We're feeding a monitor bus from our X32 into an aux in for IEMs right off the kit - have yet to test delay, but we will. Wish the rack was a touch taller and the hardware was metal. Our drummers like the feel but hate the (sometimes) 15 second delay it takes to load a kit in the module - that'll throw a set off if you're expecting a kit change between songs. Alesis almost got it. Hopefully we don't run into any of the module software issues I've seen online since it's been out a year now.

Going to flam the trigger

I have been on the fence about what kit to buy until today. After reading all of the reviews I was satisfied that it's the right kit. I learned to play on the Dm10 studio kit and beat the ba-jesus out of it(mostly due to Unsung by Helmut). I wouldn't say I'm brand biased, but my original Alesis took a beating and I've had zero issues. Looking at the comparison between kits at the same price point and it leaves the competition in the dust! 11" touchscreen! 128 gigs! And toms that are different sized shells like an acoustic set! BAM Alesis came out swinging with this one like 20 year old Mike Tyson and made Roland look like Riddick Bowen. I know this is reviews of a purchased item, but I think for something that cost over $ a preview is acceptable.

The Future of Drumming...
Waited a bit to write a review until I had a chance to do some basic recording (Garage Band). As someone who has had professional recording experience, this kit can give you pro recording sound in your unfinished basement. Even without out mixing and mastering the raw tracks are incredible. The only test that this kit hasn't past is performance in the live environment. Haven't yet played a gig but if the first impressions and results are any indication, this is the future of drumming.
Love this kit!
Got this new Alesis Strata kit setup over the weekend and already played it for about 10hrs. Initial thoughts are that this kit is really great! HH calibration was easy, setup overall was easy and the BFD Prime module is the best I've seen on the market to date. Highly recommend this kit and if you're going to get it then I highly recommend you get it from Sweetwater! If you don't know why I say that then you probably just haven't bought from them before. Excellent customer support, fast shipping, great prices on the gear you want (thanks Dave!). Time will tell as to how well the kit holds up but my previous Alesis Surge kit is still going strong so expecting the same from the Strata.
