A More-is-more Strat Fit for a Modern Maestro

When it comes to the topic of quintessential shredders, Yngwie Malmsteen is at the top of the list. And his custom-spec'd Fender Stratocaster has been his weapon of choice for the totality of his decades-long career. The Yngwie Malmsteen Strat was tailor-made for virtuosic fretboard gymnastics, boasting a comfortably contoured alder body, a relaxed Modern "C"-shaped neck, and a lightning-fast scalloped fingerboard. A set of Seymour Duncan YJM Fury noiseless Strat pickups discharge scorching-hot lead tones with maximum articulation. You also get a sustain-enhancing brass nut, vintage-style "F"-stamped tuning machines, and a 6-saddle American Vintage synchronized tremolo. Players searching for the ultimate conduit for their rapid-fire neoclassical excursions will find the Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster the consummate shred machine.

Satisfies your need for speed

You can bet the Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster was built for breaking speed records. Built upon a sleek contoured alder body with a spotlight-ready gloss urethane finish, this solidbody electric guitar features a malleable Modern "C"-shaped maple neck with a '70s Bullet-style truss rod and a sustain-heightening brass nut. Its fast-playing 9.5-inch-radius, 21-fret fingerboard is scalloped — just like Yngwie's personal Strats — arming you with enhanced control and extended note-manipulation expression.

Poised for savage sonic fury

Employing a patented stack design, the Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster's Seymour Duncan YJM Fury Strat pickups deliver savage lead tones with zero noise. These pups contain custom-length Alnico V rod magnets and a unique coil architecture, arming you with truckloads of precision, fluidity, and articulation — the holy trifecta of shred-approved sonic characteristics. The guitarists here at Sweetwater appreciate how balanced YJM Fury Strat pickups are; you get enough bite to cut through the din, but without any trace of harshness or brittleness. The Yngwie Malmsteen Strat also brandishes Fender's no-load tone control, which retains every ounce of your high end in the fully open position.

Virtuoso-worthy appointments

The Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster is a well-appointed axe. For starters, its vintage-style "F"-stamped tuning machines are absolutely rock solid. Its 6-saddle American Vintage synchronized tremolo is as stable as all get out, enabling you to execute the gamut of pitch pyrotechnics with complete impunity. The Yngwie Malmsteen Strat showcases a 3-ply pickguard, a wing-style string tree, and aged white plastic knobs. To top it off, this exquisite solidbody electric guitar flaunts a signature-emblazoned large '70s-style headstock.

Reviews

Sleek, Fast, and built for Speed!
First off Ide like to start out by thanking the Sweetwater crew for their continued support and customer service! Top notch service is next to none they are the best in the business! I have wanted this guitar since I was 16 years old, I'm 27 now. I've played hundreds of strats. Some good, some horrible. I always wondered about a scalloped neck and I'm a huge Yngwie fan so I always wanted to try it. So I finally was able to purchase my dream Stratocaster! I read a lot of reviews of guys complaining about E strings jumping off the board. The problem is your pressing too hard you need to relax your left hand and adjust your articulation I slid off a couple times but within 5 mins it felt totally natural. When I opened the case and looked at the guitar it was absolutely flawless! I took the inspection card outback of the strings and strummed and chord and the guitar was in perfect tune! As they usually are from Sweetwater. So I wanted to play it for a few days before I wrote a review. I don't like this guitar........ I LOVE THIS GUITAR! Ive played vintage 70s era fender strats and they even got the body contours right! I played it acoustically and it was nice and resonant but the magic happened when I plugged it in! Those pickups are AMAZING! Yngwie knows tone and Seymour Duncan made it happen! These pickups are throaty and don't color the sound of the guitar the back pickup is very aggressive and chunky, the middle pickup is very quacky like a normal Strat, and the neck pickup is like heaven! It's so smooth and creamy and very very fluid sounding! The fret work and scalloping is done with sharp precision. The frets look like Mirrors the dressing is the best I've ever seen! The edges are rolled nicely and the neck is super comfortable to play. The scallops are deep and you can really really get under the string to get crazy bends and Vibrato is effortless on this guitar. Finally the tremolo. Most fob is strat guys know that bars on strat are temperamental and they go out of time easily. This trem it set up to yngwies spec to float. The trem is set up and balanced beautifully I am used to a floyd rose so this trem is very very light tension wise. So I said let's abuse it so I did I dumped the bar and made horrid noises and played harmonics and pulled the bar up and back down again. Then played a e chord the guitar tuning NEVER MOVED! This guitar is worth every penny and it top notch build quality!
Music background: Lead guitarist/Session Musician
Strat worthy of the name!
My dream Fender Strat that finally became a reality and I couldn't be happier!
The quality and playability of it is superb! Getting used to not feeling the fretboard directly took a little getting used to but I got used to it after about a week of steady playing.
I was also ready to possible adjust my playing style with a scalloped neck, but I found out that it wasn't the case after all. I discovered I don't press hard on the strings to have an"out of tune" affect that heavy grippers might.
The tone on it is unique with the Yngwie signature double stacked Seymours that have some beef to them. All in all it's an excellent guitar.
Great out of box(malmsteen strat)
Highly recommend
This is an immaculate instrument
I really can't say enough good things about this guitar. Plug it into a plexi or SV20h with a DOD250 and it nails the Malmsteen/neoclassical tone. I think I prefer the Dimarzzio HS3 over the YMJ fury, but it still sounds really great. The neck is incredibly fast and it stays in tune really well even when using the vibrato.

For those that complain about the high E falling off the fretboard…..this guitar requires a light touch. I think it's a common issue for people learning to play a scalloped fretboard. Learn to play with minimum force and max accuracy and this instrument will make you a better guitarists. 100%
Yngwie
I just love this thing. Don't care if the wife leaves me now....
