Unleash the Sonic Firepower of the Richie Kotzen Strat

Hailing from Fender’s Japanese-built Artist line, the Richie Kotzen Stratocaster faithfully re-creates the signature model he uses with the Winery Dogs, Smith/Kotzen, and his myriad solo projects. The Richie Kotzen Strat features a resonant ash body, capped with a spotlight-ready flame maple top. You’ll revel in the hand-filling comfort of this solidbody electric guitar’s Thick C-shaped maple neck and the lightning-fast feel of the 22-fret, 12-inch-radius maple fingerboard. Additionally, a trio of custom DiMarzio single-coil pickups and standard 5-way switching unleash a salmagundi of incendiary Strat tones voiced to complement virtuosic playing styles. On the hardware front, this Stratocaster boasts a 6-saddle, vintage-style synchronized tremolo and reliable Gotoh tuning machines with eye-grabbing pearl buttons. A stunning 3-ply pearloid pickguard, gleaming gold hardware, and a light-catching transparent gloss finish round out this axe’s sublime aesthetics. Reviews

Phenomenally Well Made Guitar
I saw this red transparent Kotzen signature model a couple of years ago and had been pondering buying one used -- it's one of the best looking yet restrained finishes I've ever seen on a guitar. I then saw the Fender announcement of a new batch being built for sale in the US and pondered buying one apparently too long. Sweetwater had about 5 in stock and sold out within 2-3 weeks. I wound up buying one at -- ahem -- another online merchant and apparently bought their only remaining unit. Just got it today and am VERY impressed. The intonation, fretwork and action on the guitar is flawless (the merchant did do an inpsection to certify this FYI). The visual finish on the body and neck is flawless. The neck is a chunkier C profile than my two existing Fender strats (1992 Strat Plus and 2008 70s style Stratocaster) but about the same as an Ibanez Roadstar strat clone from 1984. Unless you really need a thinner neck, you acclimate to it after an hour or two of playing.

The DiMarzio pickups on this are significantly different than those in my other strat-style guitars -- significantly brighter but very clean. If you roll the treble down a bit and run it through a typical TubeScreamer type pedal, the pickups can cover key Les Paul rythm pickup territory.

The general takeaway? This made-in-Japan model is equal in quality to anything coming out of Coronado and if this particular combination of finish and accoutrements is what you're looking for, you probably need to buy this as soon as you can find it in stock. You will NOT have to worry about an instrument showing up with dodgy quality.

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them! So, whether you’re looking for your first axe or a Custom Shop creation, make sure to give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call at (800) 222-4700.
