Flexible HSS Tones Meet High-performance Player II Tweaks

Armed with high-power HSS sonics, the Fender Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS injects its standard Player II predecessor with unabashedly modern playability and performance. From the moment you grip this guitar’s maple neck in your palm, you’ll be thrilled by the fluid playability of its slim modern C profile, sleek satin finish, and comfortably rounded-over edges. Moreover, the 9.5-inch radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets facilitate all manner of fingerboard finesse. As for the tone, neck- and middle-position Player II Noiseless Strat pickups sing with hum-free chime and shimmer, while the bridge-position Player II Modified Humbucker dishes out a high-power dual-coil wallop with ample output and articulation. And if you’re in the mood for standard SSS Strat sonics, you can even flip the push-pull Tone knob to access authentic single-coil bite. An innovative hardware arrangement cements this guitar’s hot-rodded status, comprising a 2-point Synchronized tremolo with a chamfered block, steel block saddles, short-post locking tuning machines, and a modern string tree — a symbiotic suite of features that ensures lock-tight tuning stability and expanded pitch-bending potential. Expertly adapted for modern musicians of all styles and genres, the Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS sharpens up an all-time California classic while retaining the essence that’s made the Strat an icon since 1954.

High-speed modern C maple neck

The Fender Player II Modified series is all about performance, and the Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS’s neck embodies that philosophy with a plethora of player-focused features. A maple foundation in Fender’s fan-favorite modern C profile starts this 6-string off with a speedy feel, further bolstered by the neck’s slick satin finish. Topside, the 9.5-inch-radius fingerboard and medium-jumbo frets provide an ideal platform for wide, multi-step bends and vibrant vibrato. And arguably most impressively, the Fender Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS’s neck brandishes rolled edges that glide against your palm with an almost frictionless feel.

Noise-free single-coil shimmer paired with humbucking heat

Equipped with both hard-hitting humbucking firepower and uncompromisingly authentic single-coil sounds, Fender’s Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS pickups take on everything from screaming, gain-laden riffage to classic Strat spank with the flip of a switch. First up, the neck- and middle-position Player II Modified Noiseless Stratocaster pickups provide you with a clear, complex, and dynamic single-coil Stratocaster voice that performs without the faintest bit of 60-cycle hum. These tones balance beautifully against the warm, powerful output of the Alnico II Player II Modified Humbucker. Plus, you can even flip up the push-pull Tone pot to transform the humbucker into a single-coil for classic SSS Strat tones. Finally, it’s all topped off with a treble bleed circuit that retains clarity when you roll down the Volume knob.

Top-of-the-line hardware appointments

The Fender Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS wields upgraded hardware from stem to stern, all of which is engineered to ensure the highest level of performance possible. It all starts with a 2-point Synchronized tremolo that boasts a chamfered tremolo block. This much-welcomed modification provides this trem system with an expanded range of travel, which Sweetwater guitarists find allows for far more extreme and expressive whammy-bar finesse than typical vintage-style Strat trem units. What’s more, the Player II Modified Stratocaster HSS’s cutting-edge tremolo is further bolstered by an ultra-smooth modern string tree and short-post locking tuners. These three features work in perfect concert, ensuring that even your wildest pitch-shifting flourishes retain rock-solid tuning stability.

Fender II Modified series: a musical joyride

Like a tuned-up classic car, Fender’s Player II series injects all-time classic designs with a high-octane dose of power and performance. Born out of a deep exploration under the hood and a thorough examination of Player II instruments, Fender has introduced the Player II Modified series. Home to hot-rodded editions of Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass models, the Player II Modified series features timeless touches, including quality tonewoods, rolled fingerboard edges, and legendary body shapes. Meanwhile, a barrage of high-performance upgrades, including new noiseless pickups, elevated electronics, and reimagined hardware, deliver a souped-up playing experience. It all equates to an inventive line that beautifully complements the essence of what has made Fender the go-to choice for musicians since 1946. Like a sleek coupe fresh from the garage, your Fender Player II Modified series instrument is ready to ride.

Reviews

Best Stratocaster I’ve owned
The feel of this neck, fretboard is super sweet like your favorite jeans. The mod upgrades are insane.
TUSQ NUT, locking tuners, treble bleed cap, noiseless pups, and a sweetly padded gig bag.
It's got all the tone and sounds you've loved about this icon.
I've had five Strats, this is my favorite. Yes, even compared to a few American made models.
Music background: Over 50 years pickin’ and grinin’
Glad I spent alittle more $$
My music teacher gave some options in the Fender Strats.
Standard, Player series, Player series 2 modified.
I see where the extra money gives you.
A wide range of tonal options and different sounds from dark heavy to bright clean, in the middle you can get a creamy sound.
Paired with the BlackStar Rs50 amp It's amazing.
If your a beginner like me and can make a investment into a instrument that'll take you a long ways down the road in your music journey. This is it.
Very happy with this guitar.
Sweetwater customer service is excellent they make you feel that you are the priority not your wallet.
Thx Maxwell
Music background: Beginner but not tone def.
Best service ever
The guitar is sweet, the service was absolutely amazing. I'll only shop here for guitars in the future.
A lot to like but the might need some tweaks
The important things are great: the neck and build quality are spot on. Love small touches like the locking tuners. The humbucker that's included sounds great but the two noiseless single coils just aren't quite it for me. Obviously pickups are very subjective but if I do end up keeping this guitar, the included single coils will probably get swapped out. In hindsight I probably would have been just as happy or happier with the Player II HSS (non-modified).

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them!
