Ready, Player II — Enhanced Modern Performance

Blending historic Fender panache with the necessary tools for modern performance, the Fender Player II Stratocaster HSS delivers a suite of versatile tone-crafting capabilities. A duo of premium tonewoods comprises alder and maple, while Player series pickups span a spectrum of shimmering highs, tight lows, and sonorous midrange. Guitarists at Sweetwater are thrilled with Fender’s decision to introduce rolled edges to each axe’s fingerboards, augmenting both comfort and accessibility. What’s more, Fender dove deep into the archives to resurrect iconic finishes — some of which have never been seen in the series! Between eye-catching aesthetics and a 2-point synchronized tremolo, the Fender Player II Stratocaster is your key to unparalleled expression and next-level playability.

Time-tested foundations

Fender’s origins are synonymous with the electric guitar revolution, and the Player II Stratocaster is imbued with the same foundational DNA. Its time-tested alder body anchors your tone in a sonorous, balanced cornerstone, blending resounding sustain with full-spectrum heft that doesn’t sacrifice articulation for presence. Maple adorns the neck and fingerboard, adding warmth and brightness in every register, with excellent voicing that ensures everything is crisp, powerful, and never harsh, from complex chords to roaring leads.

Contemporary tone-sculpting tools

To bring these sonic foundations to life, Fender meticulously crafted the Player series pickups to marry classic Fender style with contemporary tone-building necessities. This Player II Stratocaster deploys an HSS configuration. An Alnico II humbucker delivers punchy, articulate tones that maintain a crystalline veneer, taming cloying highs without compromising heat or thinning out at higher gain. Both Player series Strat single-coil pickups utilize Alnico V magnets, expanding this guitar’s aural profile with glass-like transparency and percussive chime. With the aid of a 5-way blade switch, dual tone controls, and a master volume knob, untold worlds of latent sonic potential are waiting to be unearthed.

Maximum expressive possibilities

Aptly enough, it’s the playability of the Player II Stratocaster that elevates it to the echelon of modern, dynamic performance. The maple neck features a Modern “C” profile and satin finish, optimized for speed and comfort. It’s complemented by a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius, blending versatile accessibility and robust in-hand feel to extract every ounce of sonic possibility from its 22-fret array. Adding to the comfort of the fingerboard’s rolled edge, Fender’s bookended the Player II Stratocaster’s 25.5-inch scale with ClassicGear tuning machines and a 2-point synchronized tremolo with bent steel saddles. With rock-solid tuning and reliable buzz-free sound, the Player II Stratocaster expands your sonic palette for maximum expressivity, from subtle vibrato to roaring, evocative dives.

Fender Player II Stratocaster HSS Features:

  • Revamped series design marries classic Fender style with modern performance necessities
  • Alder body anchors tone in a balanced foundation for soaring sustain and punchy articulation in every register
  • Maple neck and fingerboard impart shimmering brightness to your sound to enhance clarity in voicing for chords, licks, leads, and solos
  • Player series pickups utilize Alnico II magnets in the bridge-mounted humbucker and Alnico V magnets in the single-coil pickups for premium performance
  • 5-way blade selector is complemented by 2 tone controls and 1 master volume knob, ensuring robust tone-crafting versatility
  • Rolled fingerboard edges, Modern “C” profile, and satin-finished neck maximize speed and comfort to accommodate players of nearly any style
  • 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and 25.5-inch scale maximize sonic-sculpting opportunities with unfettered access to all 22 frets
  • Fender-crafted ClassicGear tuning machines and 1.65-inch synthetic bone nut mean rock-solid performance and buzz-free tones
  • 2-point synchronized tremolo system features bent steel saddles and unrivaled expressive potential

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

Note: While Certified Open Box items from Fender do not include the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation warranty, you can shop with confidence knowing that this item is backed and covered by Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

Mack from Tampa, FL
I am a drummer who has been learning guitar as a second instrument the past couple of years. I bought this Strat as an upgrade from the Squier 70s Classic Vibe Strat I was previously playing. I am only an intermediate guitarist right now, but I cannot say enough good things about this Player II Strat. This thing looks, sounds, and plays great and I could not be happier with my purchase. I bought the Plek Pro setup and also found it worth the extra money. I let a couple of my pro guitarist friends take this Strat for a spin, and they agreed the guitar and setup were outstanding.
Excellent Guitar
This is an excellent playing guitar. The satin finish on the neck is really nice. The pickups sound really good especially the bridge humbucker. The only thing that's not perfect about this instrument is the fret ends are not as Samoa's I like. I would buy it again
Player ll
Excellent Guitar can't stop playing it all day every day and night
Pickups are a surprise!
I have an active HSS EMG equipped pickguard on my Squier Affinity Strat that I FULLY intended on installing on this. However the pickups are just too good. No they're not noiseless on the singles, BUT they sound like a killer Strat. Also the craftsmanship with the rolled fretboard edges translates into the rest of the guitar. The bridge is super comfy and smooth! I played other brand's HSS Strats at Guitar Fest (highly recommend!) and the PRS NF3 also in this price range, and this is the one for me for sure!! That said the NF3 and so many other great HSS Strats exist in this price range nowadays, but if you want that Fender THING, go with this one hands down.
Music background: Hobbyist

It’s impossible to imagine a world without Fender guitars, and if you’re like many of the guitarists at Sweetwater, then Fender not only made the first guitar you ever bought " they made the last one too! From building the first mass-produced solidbody electric guitars and basses in the 1950s to creating some of the most influential amplifier designs in history, it’s no wonder why Fender is one of the biggest names in the business. As one of the world’s largest Fender dealers, we have countless guitars, basses, amps, effects pedals, and accessories in stock and ready to ship, whenever you need them. We’re always getting our hands on their latest creations, and there’s nothing we love more than to tell our customers all about them! So, whether you’re looking for your first axe or a Custom Shop creation, make sure to give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call at (800) 222-4700.
