A Classic Single-cutaway Guitar from Schecter

The Schecter Solo II Custom solidbody is the electric guitar for you when you want the look and feel of a classic with modern features that offer a wider tonal range and a more enjoyable playing experience. The Solo II Custom is built from the tonewood combination of a mahogany body and an exotic burl top for their blend of warmth and attack. A set of Schecter USA Pasadena humbuckers is based on the PAF platform. And appointments like coil splitting, a compensated nut for intonation, and locking tuners round out the Solo II Custom's feature set.

Tried-and-true construction

The basis of the Schecter Solo II Custom electric guitar is the mahogany body, set neck, and single-cutaway design that has found a home with countless guitarists worldwide. The tonewood combination offers a sound that has plenty of warmth and bark, and the exotic burl delivers long sustain and a quick attack. You'll notice harmonics and transients explode from the ebony fretboard. But Schecter is far from copying an old design. Thanks to the sharp cutaway, thin "C" neck profile, and Schecter headstock, the Solo II Custom still has a look and feel all of its own.

Hot-rodded PAF-style humbuckers

You'll love the clear but full-bodied tone of the Schecter USA Pasadena-series humbucking pickups in the Solo II Custom. The Pasadena neck pickup is great at achieving all of the warmth and top-end detail of great vintage-era PAF humbuckers. The Pasadena Plus in the bridge was designed for Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance. It boasts a more pronounced upper midrange that cuts right through a mix. And the increased output is great for driving your amps or pedals just a bit harder.

Touches for modern performance

The Solo II Custom does depart from a strictly vintage construction in many ways. Features like its Schecter locking tuners offer a level of tuning stability not matched by many older models of guitars. An Ernie Ball compensated nut keeps the guitar's intonation consistent across the whole range of the fretboard. And the Pasadena humbuckers can be coil split via a push-pull tone pot to access single-coil sounds. Players at Sweetwater are really impressed with how well Schecter blended the best features of vintage and modern designs in the Solo II Custom.

Hey, Big G, Step It Up

As a new guitar player who has settled on the single cut shape and feel, Gibson currently wants north of $ to play the Les Paul game if I want that name on the headstock.

Well, thanks but no thanks, Gibson. Schecter has been killing it for a very long time and while there isn't a whole lot of information on this guitar, the reviews and info out there are definitely accurate. You're getting top shelf quality for a price that isn't nuts.

I didn't know Gibson had discontinued the Tribute line, which I was ready to buy. After searching for the next tier in Gibson's lineup, I discovered that I'd have to pay north of $ for the LP experience from Gibson. While I was searching for alternatives, I saw the Solo 2 in the burl finish. There were a couple others (less expensive) but I loved the unique finish so much that I pulled the trigger.

The workmanship is flawless. The unplugged resonance is amazing. The look is eye-catching but not obnoxious. The coil split is a modern and very cool feature that I may not use much, but I'm glad it's there.

Plugged in, you can pull out of the classic and modern sounds and tones that you expect from a classic single cut and with a coil split, you have those, too. I've played friend's $ Gibsons that don't sound or feel as good as the Solo II.

You do not have to pay the Big G, a minimum of 2.5gs to have a very high quality single cut experience, have more factory features, and arguably a cooler more unique finish.

Good on Schecter for making such a killer instrument at a cost that most guitar players can aspire to. While I own and love Epiphone LPs, the Solo II is in another league.

If Gibson doesn't have another option planned in the $ range and isn't ceding over that market space to its Epiphone division, if you're not concerned with the name on the headstock, you'd be hard pressed to find a better option than the Solo II.

2023 New Number 1 Go To Axe

I leaned forward and purchased this guitar a month or so ago. It quickly launched itself to my number one. I own a bunch of guitars and this one took the number one spot from my 1996 custom built Carvin TL60. I considered the PLEK due to the price point but declined it thinking my adjustment skills would suffice and honestly, the only thing I had to adjust was the bridge pickup height in order to balance the output with the neck pup. This guitar plays as good and mostly better than anything else I own or have built. I own a South Korean built Schecter C1+ and this guitar is much better in every measurable way and the C1+ is an amazing guitar mind you. I am beyond impressed and will enjoy this aesthetically beautiful instrument and will for years to come I am sure. If you're looking for a fast neck, tight mids and piercing pinched harmonic humbucker single cutaway beast that also coil splits, look no further. Ask for Clint Bransteter if you want to be handled by the best sales engineer!!!

The pictures don't do it justice. Plays like a dream!!

Absolutely amazing. They Could easily charge double what I paid for it. The richness of the color is matched only by the quality of the playing experience. The tone/volume knobs are smooth and have a rubber grip that make them super sensitive and easy to micro adjust. The sustain just goes on and on. THIS is the guitar I've been searching for. Thanks so much!!

Outstanding Guitar

Had Sweetwater install a TUSQ nut and set it up. Well worth the extra money, this guitar rings like a bell. If you want a guitar that plays perfectly this is the one. This is the #1 ax I gig with now, My Gibson Les Paul is now a wall hanger. I live next to and am friends with a world famous lutheir who only works on vintage guitars Gibsons mostly. After much prodding (yes bit of a prima donna ) I got him to play this beast, a couple of hilarious sneers later he handed it back and said "it'll do" lol. Believe me this is high praise, as he would have loved to pick apart anything he could find. By far the best guitar purchase I have made in the last 20 years.

Asthetical eye candie

Sugar in yer eyeballs. A true shred machine. Feels like it plays itself. The definition of pleasure. Best single cut on the market for the money. I have the SLS Evil twin and Custom in aged black satin. Schecter is blowing it away.
