Joe Perry's Boneyard Slide

The Dunlop Joe Perry 257 Signature Boneyard Slide sounds bluesy and soulful whether you're jamming on an acoustic at home or rocking a shrieking electric in a packed arena. Aerosmith's Joe Perry is a guitar legend, and his material of choice for slides is porcelain. Joe likes the way the rougher interior surface absorbs moisture and keeps the slide on his finger. The Joe Perry Slide is available in four sizes. Slide like you mean it, with the Dunlop Joe Perry 257 Boneyard slide.

Dunlop Joe Perry 257 Signature Boneyard Slide Features at a Glance:
  • Bluesy, soulful tone with medium sustain
  • Ideal for electric and acoustic guitars

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

right tone, right size
I'm just getting back into slide after a long absence. I spent a lot of time and frustration figuring out what worked for me. So far, this is it. The ceramic has the tone and the sustain, minus the shrillness. It's kind of light but has the mass you need for good slide tone. I use it on electric and acoustic, and it works pretty good with low-ish electric action. I had raised my action on my main Tele thinking I would have to live with it, but the difference between this slide and the others that I was using changed that. I brought the action back down and this works. I use my middle finger for slide, and this dimension was right. I measured it with a caliper and it's close to spec (.76", 19.3mm), (I make it slightly larger). If I measure the middle segment of my middle finder, in the middle, across, it's right at .79", 20mm. It's perfect. Not too tight nor too loose. This is probably a stupid long write-up for a slide, but I offer it for anyone who is having problems sizing. I don't know my ring size, and I doubt that helps anyhow, plus the slide sizing charts did not work for me either. Just measure across the middle of your slide finger and add a little; less than a mm.
As always, thanks to TJ and the gang at SW.

Nice
Great tones! Fits snug on my pinky finger.
Joe Perry Boneyard Slide
Love this slide! Fits on my pinky finger just fine. Light and holds sustain the way a slide should. I play acoustic resonator guitar and this slide fits well for the tone I'm looking for. I recommend this one. Just don't drop it.
Great Slide!
After seeing a fellow guitarist use this I had to try it. I have glass and brass but was looking for something warmer and smoother for church and this nails it for me. Really creamy tone! Highly recommend!
Music background: Church, Sessions, Secular Bands. Have been playing for 28 years.
Boneyard Slide with shake your bones
This is probably my favorite slide that I own and I own a few! It's got great sustain, has a full and fat singing sound! I love it!!! If you want something smooth and sings but isn't shrill but has great presence this is your slide! I have played it so much since I got it! Joe Perry did a good job designing this with Dunlop and it speaks for itself when it's the only slide joe uses and also Dave Amato from REO Speedwagon uses this slide as well! My bottle neck Billy Gibbons slide was my favorite for years but I think this just knocked it off its perch! Pick one up today you won't be dissapointed ! Thanks again Ryan Murray!
