Electro-Harmonix Satisfaction Fuzz Pedal Reviews
It's hard to imagine that electro-harmonix had anything other than Keith Richards' tone in mind when they created the Satisfaction Fuzz electric guitar pedal. It's one of the more tenacious fuzz pedals you'll find at Sweetwater - the attack control's range starts with an angry buzz and ends with an epic wall of fuzz. You can easily dial in everything from full-on edgy fuzz to warm, liquid leads just with your guitar's tone knob. With just two simple knobs and a compact form, the electro-harmonix Satisfaction Fuzz is ready to add some serious bite to any effects pedalboard.

You Get What You Need
The pedal gives exactly what you would expect given the name: The "Keef"-like tone from "that" song. It is not very versatile beyond that, but was exactly what I wanted, and the price point was excellent. If you need something with more range, you should look elsewhere and expect to pay more.
60’s in a box, brutal and glorious
PUT THIS BEFORE A BUFFER!!! I almost returned this fuzz. Being a Big Muff kinda guy, I always have them behind my OD so that I can push them to heavy, aggressive new places. I got the Satisfaction fuzz and put it in the same place by the Muffs, assuming it's a modern take on an old circuit. TREBLE piercing city!!!!! Whoa was this thing bright and piercing. The problem was, it sounded kind near like it did on reviews, but I assumed on my SS Orange CR60C, it was how it was going to sound. I tried EQ, ODs, coating it in reverb but it sounded like a small transistor radio blaring Iron Butterfly. I remembered people saying that fuzz faces need to go before a buffer, so I moved it up front and out came all the brash, harsh fuzz ugliness I was hoping for. It is the trebly fuzz sound of the 60's. Sounds like "Spirit in the Sky", Grateful Dead's "Cold Rain and snow", "Psychotic Reaction", "In-a-gada-da-vida," and of course "Satisfaction". I wish it had a tone knob even if a small sweep just to add a pinch of bass because it is harsh (in a good way). EHX really nailed the tone I have to say, and for a great price.
Awesomeness
I saw the video and thought, what the heck. This pedal brings plenty of wet . I love it so much I ordered another one
Great Christmas Gift
My son was super happy to get this pedal. He is in a band and I was happy I could gift him it. Thanks for the fast shipping and for the candy. He knew right away where I got it from as soon he saw the candy! Keep up the good work.
Love this pedal
I've never found a fuzz pedal that I liked until now..
Great plugged in
I plug it into my wife so when she yells at me ...it mellows her voice quite a bit
You CAN get Satisfaction!
Like has been said in some reviews this is not a creamy, warm fuzz. It is dirty, nasty and spitty. I LOVE it! This perfectly nails the fuzz tone I hear in my head that I have tried countless fuzz pedals while trying to "find" the perfect fuzz tone. This is it. If you're a fan of that gnarly, in-your-face, 60's type rusty razor blade type distortion this is where you need to place your money. This pedal is a winner and a quality one at that.
Know what you're getting first!
This pedal has a dirty, scuzzy 60s fuzz sound. It's harsh and spiky and sounds a bit like one of the capacitors is dying and it's generally a bit unpleasant to listen to. So it's pretty much perfect in my book! It's not a creamy fuzz, it's a one trick pony and that trick is giving you the tones of "satisfaction", "in a gadda da vida", or "what is life". Run it through an amp or your favorite overdrive pedal to get the most out of it and you're on your way. Just know what it is before you buy, because a fuzzface it is not!
Best Pedal I own
For a fairly inexpensive pedal I love it. Great tone and awesome drive. I don't care what rock you like to play this pedal can handle it. I play this through a Orange Micro terror 20 W amp and it just rocks.
Satisfied with the Satisfaction
Simple controls and features, but it sounds really good. The price point is good too. Not to expensive. It was worth getting just to have this pedal in my collection.
Satisfaction Fuzz
The Pedal's name says it all! Was exactly as advertised, and has THAT sound! Price
and service, from Sweetwater were excellent, as always!
EH nails it again!
Just got this in the mail the other day and it is a killer! Some of the most authentic sounding 60's style fuzz you'll find on the market and at a price that won't break the bank. In addition to bitey, "Psychotic Reaction" style fuzz you can get a surprisingly versatile range of sounds by adjusting the controls on the pedal as well as on your guitar.
This is my second Electro-Harmonix purchase after grabbing up a Mel9 as soon as they went on the market and right now EH is 2 for 2 with me...the quality of the effects and the sturdy workmanship of the pedals themselves is excellent. And speaking of consistent quality, this is probably my 5th or 6th purchase thru Sweetwater and it has been nothing but a joy doing business with these guys. My sales rep Ben is quick to follow up and answer any questions or concerns and definitely goes above and beyond.
If you're even thinking of dropping the coin on this pedal, do it!
This is the sound!
We do a lot of Rolling Stones songs in our band and I was looking for "that" sound for "that" song. By tweaking the input gain structure, adjusting the Satisfaction pedal's two simple knobs, and adding the right amount of reverb...got "that" sound. This pedal was the key.
Great sound Fuzz
I own 5 Fuzz boxes, but this one is the one I've been looking for. If you want the 60's - 70's fuzz tone this one will fill the bill. Buy it you'll like it.
EhX Satisfaction Fuzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All i can say is....LOVE this thing.......i am loving trying to be keef!!!!!!! Sounds great with my other pedals too. Just perfect for me.
60s Fuzz is Back
Instead of buying an expensive used Gibson Maestro Fuzz Pedal, try this. You will have to tweak you amp and guitar tones a bit but you will get the authentic sound of the psychedelic era.
A great sounding pedal
I recently got this pedal and man I really like the sounds from it. The price is good, the sound it really nice and with a little bit of gain ... boom you got a party :-)
Satified
The Satisfaction does what it's designed for: give you that fuzz sound. Playing around with the volume and attack knobs gave me a surprisingly wider range of sounds than I expected. Strong build, great sound, wonderful price. As always, Chris Barry and Sweetwater did a great job answering my questions and getting me my gear quickly!!!
Plenty of SATISFACTION!
Just tried out my new E-H fuzz. Has great sound! The attack and volume controls give it great flexibility.
Hidden Secret
Inside this pedal there are two open and unused pads on the circuit board - one marked for diodes and the other "Bass+". I suspect that EHX was making a work around for potential copyright infringement sake or something like that to avoid getting sued, and they made it like this. If you call EHX and ask about it they will literally tell you they have no idea what you are talking about - but they are plainly there. If you solder in a 22n cap [you know, the one from any guitar wiring kit] into the "bass+" pad, the body of the sound is back and it sounds full and wooly and gnarly like you expect this "Bosstone" clone to actually sound like. Unfortunately in order to do this, the stock form is extremely thin and harsh, and so a lot of people plug it in and go "oh my, its piercing, awful, I hate it" because they don't know and EHX aren't talking. So you have to be hip to the "hidden secret" where everyone has a wink and a nod - and now you are. Once the bass mod is done this thing sounds glorious - and its a REALLY expensive vintage clone for pennies. I only downgrade it one star because of how many people have probably bought this and didn't know and felt it was terrible because they didn't know the secret. They should have found a way to clue everyone in.
Does what it says
As other reviewers have said this unit is pretty one dimensional but it does exactly what its supposed to do and does it pretty well at a very reasonable price point
Satisfied with Satisfaction
This is a very harsh splattery fuzz/treble booster. Not a lot of sustain or low end and not as versatile as a muff pi or fuzzface. It is purely for fuzz enthusiasts.
Younger musicians looking for an entry level dirt box will probably be disappointed. IMO this would be best suited for Stoner, grunge or KBD style punk.
Great fuzz
Solidly built, works great, sounds good
Authentic Early Fuzz Tone
It's easy to tell from the demo video that this nails the Keef tone and other mid 60's - early 70's fuzz sounds. I even got a convincing "Cherub rock" vibe . Rolling back on the guitar volume yielded a sound I may use for special effect on a portion of a song or an overdub, but to my ears was not as musical as my OCD or Catalinbread Manx Loagthan .
It may have a narrower range of usable sounds than other pedals, but when you need a vulgar unapologetic fuzz this does the trick and at a surprisingly low price.
I am Satisfied !
It's Okay
Sounds okay. Just learning how to use it, haven't been able to duplicate the fuzz as in the namesake fuzz riff. Sounds a bit tinny.
Works, but...
The fuzztone works, for sure. I can't review it for actual on stage use because I ain't a rocker, just a folkie looking to add some attitude for a lead guitar thing. But the fact that you need to replace the battery by removing the bottom of the case with a screwdriver is a little old-school, but not fatal.
satisfaction? some
I am just into fuzz for some reason lately. I'm trying everything, so the Satisfaction was on the list. It is great for the perfect "Satisfaction" song emulation, and a decent variety of fuzzies, but not quite as versatile as I had hoped. So far the Germaniums are doing it better for me. I'm also trying out a seymour duncan, and a few others soon. Not sure what I'll settle on. I do like this pedal enough to keep it, but if I can match it's Rolling Stone fuzz on a more versatile, more option based pedal, I will most likely have something else on my pedal board soon (I'm guessing a Pollinator, or a Fulltone. It is fun trying them all!! I recommend it highly. The Satisfaction is great at hard fuzz and has some decent variety options, and tone control roll in and outs, I'm just not completely warm and fuzzy with it like I wish to be!
Noise city!
This is truly the noisiest pedal I have experienced. I did not know my Mesa 5:50 could produce this much background noise despite powering this pedal with a Pedal Power and with line isolation gear. Hard to hear the guitar over the background noise that gets louder with an increase in the attack knob. Way to noisy for my taste.
Dud.
Maybe I got a dud. Maybe the pedal design is a dud. I don't know which, but this is a noisy little sucker in my pedal chain and is even noisy on true bypass when connected Guitar -- Satisfaction -- Amp. The tone possibilities aren't as great as with other pedals either. Overall, more trouble than reward with this one.
