A Functional Blend of Vintage and Modern

The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay RS fuses familiar electric guitar stylings and modern technically bent touches. This guitar delivers the fat sound of a humbucker-equipped okoume body while offering the feel of a classic bolt-on design. Contemporary features, such as a compensated nut and Ernie Ball Music Man’s truss rod wheel adjustment, give the StingRay RS a decidedly modern edge. Tonally, the StingRay RS’s low-output, vintage-spec humbuckers supply warm, smoky tones to blistering high-gain crunch when you crank up the heat. And when you factor in the resonant and climate-stable roasted figured maple neck, the StingRay RS has all the trappings of a technical guitar with the pick-up-and-play appeal of your favorite stage axe.

Classic StingRay design

The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay RS guitar will be immediately familiar to fans of the original StingRay guitars of the 1970s. It boasts a comfortable offset body and a 25.5-inch scale-length bolt-on neck imbued with the snap, attack, and sheer stability of roasted figured maple. The okoume body supports two humbucking pickups to deliver a fat, midrange-focused sound. And the vibrato features vintage-style bent-steel saddles for extra vibe.

Myriad modern appointments

The StingRay RS’s asymmetrical neck carve is designed around the contour of your hand. It’s full and round at the lower strings, which is comfortable for full chording, and it thins out behind the higher strings for fast and fluid single-note playing. The set of Schaller locking tuners keeps you in tune, even under heavy vibrato use. Plus, the compensated nut ensures enhanced intonation accuracy across the length of the fingerboard. Ask any guitarist at Sweetwater, and they’ll tell you that Ernie Ball Music Man guitars are gig-ready instruments with long-term reliability.

Custom humbucking pickups

The two humbucking pickups are custom-designed by Ernie Ball Music Man to complement the StingRay RS’s warm okoume body and snappy bolt-on neck. Their lower output dishes out full-range tone while maintaining plenty of clarity in the higher frequencies. Their Alnico V magnets enhance the body and cut of the guitar’s sonic signature. And vintage-correct plain enamel wiring used for winding these pickups maintains the clear, open sound that great old-school humbuckers are known for.

Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay RS Features:

  • A modern guitar that blends elements of popular vintage designs
  • Schaller locking tuners maintain superb stability
  • Modern Classic tremolo unit stays in tune and sounds great
  • 2 custom humbuckers deliver a broad palette of vintage voicings
  • 25.5-in. scale bolt-on neck feels familiar and adds snap
  • Asymmetrical neck carve is ideal for both chording and single-note playing
  • Compensated nut maintains excellent intonation
  • Ernie Ball Music Man’s truss rod adjustment wheel makes it a breeze to dial in your setup

Reviews

Best sounding EBMM
I'm sold on these lower output pickups. Yes, they work with high gain. But their magic is in clean to lower gain sounds. They sound like giant single coils, which is a good thing. Chimeyness along with chewiness with just the right amount of squish. Love this guitar. Great neck, great PU, great set-up.
