Innovative Studio Linear Power Amplifier from ART

ART's latest power amplifier offering, the SLA-2, stems from the success of the popular 100-watt SLA 1. For all of you "power" hungry audio enthusiasts, ART has created the more powerful SLA-2. The SLA-2 is a studio linear power amp that delivers 200 watts of clean, clear power and will help reproduce your mixes with near-pinpoint accuracy inside a single rack space.

Cool, quiet, and powerful

Art's latest amplifier offering, the SLA-2, stems from the success of the popular 100-watt SLA 1. For all of you "power" hungry audio enthusiasts, ART has created the more powerful SLA-2. The SLA-2 is a studio linear power amp that delivers 200 watts of clean, clear power and will help reproduce your mixes with near-pinpoint accuracy inside a single rack space. One of the top features for studio use on the SLA-2 is ART's SmartFan technology. In addition to a standard cooling fan, the oversized convection heat sinks located on each side of the SLA 2 silently directs heat flow outside the chassis. What makes the SmartFan "smart"? Its temperature-controlled variable speed keeps the amp quiet and cool while performing at lower output. SmartFan kicks in only when the amp's heat load rises creating an "on-demand" cooling system in warmer environments.

Convenience front and center

With the already stellar level of sound quality, the SLA-2's redesigned circuitry, combined with the same straightforward user interface, quickly and accurately packs the additional power punch you need. The ART SLA-2 also includes a tamper-proof faceplate for your fixed installations. Its long list of valuable features measures up to an incredible value. SLA-2 applications include project, home, and commercial recording studios; broadcast/radio/TV; live sound systems/PA; permanent/fixed installations; church, club, and practice PA systems; and DJ Sound Systems.

ART SLA-2 Features:

  • Toroidal transformer
  • 200W per channel @ 8 ohms
  • 560W bridged mono @ 8 ohms
  • 10Hz–40kHz within +/- .5 dB
  • XLR, Euroblock, and 1/4-in. inputs
  • Includes tamper-proof faceplate
  • SmartFan silent cooling system
  • Low-profile 1U rackmountable
  • Extremely low-noise, discrete linear design
  • All-steel chassis

A clean beast!
I've got this amp to drive the cutter head on my lathe, Very clean power! The Blue LED is annoyingly bright so I've got that covered up with tape
This Amp is Amazing for the Price! Have had mine for 8 years now!
This Amp is Amazing for the Price! Have had mine for 8 years now! Is does beat Crown, sounds just as good as a Hafler... coming from big studios powering NS-10s with Bryston Amps... I am amazed. Huge heat sinks. I modified my AMP and disconnected the tiny "smart fan" from the motherboard. Mine sits in a rack about 8 feet from me in my home studio control room. Quiet fan (When it comes to fans) ...but this little 1 Inch 1 1/2 Inch fan has a whining sound at a steady high enough frequency to make it annoying when not monitoring audio. Pair with 14 - 16 Gauge quality speaker wire and you are good to go. I had inline fuses that were right at my NS-10 speaker connections, but took those out when I found NS-10 woofer replacements. Yamaha was hiding them in their part dept. .. now aventone makes replacements. Good luck! Happy Listening!!!

They've done it again
Sweetwater has the best customer service and the most knowledgeable staff of any music store out there. I'm a lifelong professional musician and I am always impressed with their customer service and knowledge not to mention great prices and equally important to me is how they take care of their staff if you've never been to The Sweetwater store and ever get anywhere near Fort Wayne need to go check it out it's absolutely amazing. It's 63 I'm pretty hard to impress they blow me away continually.

ART SLA2

Bass Players
I know there are hundreds of bass players who use a Tech21 SansAmp or similar to improve their sound.
If you do you are are likely inserting it between your bass and a typical bass guitar amp...if its any good it could cost a bundle.Think about it, The SansAmp has an XLR output to go to the board either live or in the studio where it is the only source used for the recording.
The Sans Amp is a preamp....for live all you need is a good power amp. Why not bridge the Art SLA-2 into mono...that gives you 560 RMS...that's real watts...not the published BS the bass amp companies give you....peak watts or blah blah watts.
In short you save a bundle and improve your sound quality by not going from pre amp to the basses preamp to amplifier.
It's a no-brainer....better sound...more power...cheaper price!
