The Most Formidable StudioLive Yet

The StudioLive 32SX packs a lot of power for a compact console — it’s PreSonus’s most formidable offering yet. This 32-channel digital mixer boasts a dual-core FLEX DSP engine with enough muscle to drive 286 simultaneous processors, and then some. What’s more, its FLEX FX multi-effects processor vaunts four slots of reverb emulations and delays with four dedicated effects buses. Benefit from easy expandability thanks to built-in AVB networking. Enjoy versatile operation by virtue of the 32SX’s 16 FLEX Mixes. Shape and polish each channel to perfection courtesy of PreSonus’ lauded Fat Channel processing.

Dual-core FLEX DSP engine boasts impressive processing muscle

The StudioLive 32SX is packed with serious power. Its dual-core FLEX DSP engine possesses enough processing muscle to run 286 simultaneous processors, 26 mix buses, and 40 mixing channels. And its FLEX FX multi-effects processor includes four slots of reverb emulations and delays with four dedicated effects buses. At Sweetwater, we’re impressed by the sheer amount of raw power that’s lurking under the 32SX’s hood.

Three options for multitrack recording

The PreSonus StudioLive 32SX gives you three efficient options for multitrack recording. A built-in SD card recorder allows you to record all inputs simultaneously, and you can also play back from the SD card to do virtual soundchecks without a computer. You can also connect to a computer via USB for 64 channels of recording and playback — almost twice that of previous generations. And the StudioLive 32SX supports AVB over Ethernet too, enabling you to interface directly with PreSonus NSB stage boxes and EarMix 16M personal monitor mixers.

Pristine XMAX preamps for sound reinforcement and recording

Simply put, the 32 Class A XMAX preamps onboard the StudioLive 32SX sound like they belong in the studio. Their high headroom and low noise floor deliver extremely clean and clear sound you simply wouldn’t expect from a live console. And mic preamp settings are fully recallable, which is a huge time saver when you mix or record the same band or show on a regular basis.

Flex Mixes offer a ton of freedom for any mixing application

It can be frustrating trying to use the same mixer for many different tasks. Thanks to Flex Mixes, that’s not the case with the PreSonus StudioLive 32SX. Flex Mixes can be set up as aux mixes, subgroups, or matrix mixes, depending on what your show demands. Need a ton of different monitor mixes for a large group of musicians? No problem. You can create up to 16 aux sends if you need to. Same with subgroups and matrix mixes — perfect for theater productions and multi-zone venues, respectively. Basically, the 32SX’s Flex Mixes allow you to adapt your mixer to the mixing task at hand, instead of adapting your workflow to the limitations of your mixer.

Advanced processing for EQ, compression, and effects

The StudioLive series of consoles has always been known for outstanding effects and processing capabilities, and the StudioLive 32SX takes it even further. Its FLEX FX multi-effects processor supplies you with four internal effects buses that are loaded with a combination of reverbs, delays, and other effects that you can route any channel through. On top of that, Fat Channel processing offers vintage EQ and compressor models on every channel. And if you crave even more plug-in processing power, then you can bolster your 32SX with PreSonus’ Fat Channel Collection (sold separately).

PreSonus StudioLive 32SX Features:

Reviews

SX32 vs individual Pres
I used very nice pres in my studio for years. Syncing them and their own software was tedious. I listened to the Presonus Studiolive 32SX. No loss in audio quality and in many cases sounded better. If I didn't want to use my DAW I recorded directly to the SX SD card 32 full tracks. Effects and dynamics are 2nd to none. Very happy with my upgrade in my studio. On another note a mixer in the studio is just cool and nostalgic. Still have mine….Go for it you'll be pleased. Bob M.
Music background: Pro musician traveled extensively. Studio owner and engineer. Writer, Composer, final mixer.
A lot of function in a small package
Once you learn all of the flexibility you have with routing, you realize what a monster device this is. Paired with Studio One 6, it's a great recording format. I use it only for recording my own original material. Most of the live functions are disabled when in DAW mode, but the features for live work well for tracking outside of DAW mode. Mute groups, submixes for stems, effects for printing to Studio One to ease computer load, among others.

As for Studio One 6 - this is the easiest recording I've done in a long time. The features are incredible for making recording fun. Thanks to Chris for making this an easy, and productive purchase.

It Works
I have a lot of $ in Thunderbolt interfaces and thy don't work. I got a 32SK 32 and it work fine, use it with MOTU DP, and Studio One and they work just fine. Star

RECORDING GOOD NOTS
I had so thunderbolt interfaces and thy didn't work with my Mac mini m1, so I got the 325x 32 mixer and it has work real good. I use DP from MOTU and it is just the way to go.

My favorite StudioLive
I've owned an original StudioLive 24 Classic and then a few years later had the 24AI. And finally now the StudioLive 32SX. And all I can say is WOW, this is a huge step up for Presonus compared to anything they have done before. The preamps sound great and I love the fact that all of your preamp settings are recalled. The new effects especially the vintage eqs and compressor models are truly better than anything in the price range. And lastly the ipad/iphone amp is way better than any others I've used. Very intuitive and easy to navigate. I love the fact they jammed 32 mic preamps on this frame size which was the same size and my old 24 AI that only had 24 preamps. Great job Presonus and thanks Sweetwater for all of your help on getting me into the right console.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
