Soloist Performance — Redelivered

The Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX is every shredder's dream, with a powerful Seymour Duncan pickup system, coveted Floyd Rose system, and updated black Jackson appointments. Of course, given it's status as a Soloist model, it's already a favorite among several of Sweetwater's most discerning guitarists. Additional player-preferred inclusions like dome-style control knobs, a 3-piece speed-designed maple neck, and a single sightly neon inlay combine to equate a gorgeous visual display, making the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX a handsome addition to any stage or studio environment. Make no mistake: the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX is Jackson's pride and joy in terms of Soloist design — learn its secrets for yourself and grab yours before it's too late!

A conceptual take on a renowned Jackson classic

Jackson's Concept Series electric guitars redefine the bounds of the company's most popular instrument models. To that end, the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX is no exception. Armed with a similar alder figure and neck profile, this axe sports custom-built appointments like a neck-through design and specialty humbucker setup that takes its performance over the mountains. Stylish additions include a neon shark fin fingerboard inlay at the 12th fret and Luminlay side dots, ensuring you can find your way around the fretboard in any stage or studio environment. Lined in deluxe black hardware and Jackson-sealed die-cast tuners, it's no wonder the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX is such a popular axe among Sweetwater's astute shredders.

Dressed to the nines in Floyd Rose regalia

Every fan of Jackson's Soloist lineup knows that the guitar is built for speed. To keep this balance in check, Jackson outfitted the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX with a 1000 series double-locking tremolo, which facilitates everything from low-and-slow lead lines to downright sinister dive-bombs at the drop of a hat. Also onboard is a Floyd Rose 1000 Series locking nut, ensuring your intonation remains stable throughout any scale of movement from the tailpiece. Make no mistake: with a valuable Floyd Rose combo on hand, you'll find limitless potential inside the Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX.

Decisive Seymour Duncan pickup pairing

The Concept Series Soloist's aggressive, overdriven tones originate within a formidable Seymour Duncan pickup duo. In the bridge position, a Distortion TB-6 delivers serious low-end power with ample articulation — simply begging to be kicked into overdrive. Likewise, in the neck, a Hot Rails SHR-1N humbucking pickup supplies the clarity and definition of classic single-coil pickups, with the noise-canceling performance and turbocharged power that only a true humbucker can achieve. Together, this dynamic electronics combo offers players an extended range of rock and metal-inspired tones, further explorable by way of the guitar's 3-way pickup switch and volume and tone control knobs.

Jackson Concept Series Soloist SL27 EX Electric Guitar Features:

  • Conceptual Soloist 6-string guitar with custom quality Jackson appointments

Reviews

Very Suprised
This guitar was made in Korea, and I felt the price point new was high. I found this exact model used at my local music store, so I bought it up at a great price. When I first picked it up, the guitar made such an impression. The all-back is just stunning in person. I then noticed the weight of the guitar and esthetics were perfect. I was worried the 27 frets would make for a heavy headstock, but no headstock dives, which was awesome. Next, the neck is truly where this guitar shines! The action is nice, and the width of the nut makes it easy to play. So I purchased and got it home, then last night plugged it in, and I was stunned at how balanced this guitar was. Again, the neck was unique and felt so good to play. The pickups surprised me as well. The Semour Distortion is so good going through my 5150 head. Epic distortion :) Floyd is okay for being 1000, and is what I expected. I think this guitar is really special, and if you're looking at one and the price point is good, I would encourage you to get it. They are limited runs and are definitely a keeper!
Concept Soloist
One of the best guitars I have ever owned. Play's great! super thin neck, True born shred stick. Not top of the line Jackson but totally worth the money, 9/10 would reccomend.
Music background: metal
great concept, flawed execution
I bought this for the aesthetics, good specs, and hybrid 27-fret design. The construction, build quality, and finish are great, but this seems overpriced for a guitar crafted in Korea (relative to higher-spec Schecter Evil Twin FR SLS made in Korea, for example). While the action is great, there is a flaw in the design using a floyd rose 1000 tremolo, at least on the guitar I received. The low action setup results in the tremolo on my guitar failing to pull up more than a half-step. This is because the sustain block on the back of the tremolo bridge hits the spring cover plate. There are several different floyd sustain block sizes (and materials) that could have been used to avoid this flaw. Another concern is that my guitar came with 10-gauge strings which is apparently consistent with factory spec on this guitar but doesn't match the typical 9-gauge factory spec for 25.5" scale guitars made by Jackson and most other manufacturers. Of course string gauge is a preference, but there are rules of thumb and several social media demonstrations justifying even lower gauges. This guitar was playable out of the box but the playability is disappointing without further setup and investment.
