Sounds like a Les Paul
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this guitar, I knew I wanted something different than a Strat, but I wasn't sure if I would like a Les Paul-style guitar and instead get a Tele. Let me tell you, this PRS is probably the best guitar I own. Granted, I only have two electric guitars: this PRS and a Mexican Strat.

The guitar feels solid and well-built and it's a pretty guitar, however, I did notice a cutout on the body. The push/pull tone knob for the bridge, you can see where they cut a circle into the guitar where the tone knob sits. You will only see it if you switch to single-coil mode. The neck push/pull tone knob does not have this. I don't know if all their guitars in this lineup are like this just fyi before buying. Still would recommend buying this guitar even with the minor cosmetic flaw.

McCarty 594 single cut
Adding video tomorrow, this one sounds great. Both pickups are split separately if you want, and sensitive like the PAF . It's just beautiful, black on gold with bold brass posts. All I ever wanted in a guitar. I'd recommend also the Bugera power soak so you can jam late without waking the wife.

This guitar punches WAY ABOVE its weight class!
From Pawnshop Wood to PRS Perfection: As a 30-year guitar veteran, I've owned everything from bargain bin "guitars" to iconic brands like Jackson, Parker Fly, and the holy trinity of Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls. Sadly, fate intervened in the form of an apartment fire, taking some irreplaceable treasures with it. My musical journey shifted after that, becoming more about enjoyment and value than chasing the highest (or lowest) end of the spectrum. Enter the PRS McCarty 594 SE Singlecut – a guitar that delivers exceptional value for players of all levels.

Worth the Wait and Every Penny: I snagged this beauty in late December, even with a backorder. But trust me, it was well worth the wait. Right out of the box, it blew me away. The setup was flawless, the neck felt like a dreamy blend of vintage comfort and modern playability, and the pickups sounded so good, that I can't imagine needing to replace them anytime soon.

Joy in Every Note: Playing this guitar is pure joy. The Black Gold finish with brass bridge appointments is elegantly classy, and the included gig bag is a surprisingly high-quality bonus at this price point. PRS truly hit a home run with the McCarty 594 SE, setting a new standard for exceptional value across all skill levels and budgets.

Beyond the Guitar: A huge shoutout goes to Colin I. and the Sweetwater team. Shopping with them for almost a decade has been a pleasure. Their expertise, passion for music, and dedication to supporting musicians remind me of the legendary Manny's and Sam Ash shops on West 48th Street back in the day. Thanks to PRS, Colin I., and Sweetwater for making 2024 start on a high note!

GORGEOUS
I just received my PRS SE single cut McCarty 594 in Black Gold. OH, MY is it ever beautiful. Very rich and warm looking. Of course, it plays and sounds incredible. It's set up exactly how I would do it myself. The thicker neck will take a little getting used to but I'm not at all worried about that. The packing was top notch as well. There was plenty of cushion on top of being in a gig bag and double boxed. My rep. Tyler Moore was very good at notifying me of the timeline for shipping. The guitar had just arrived and still needed to go through Sweetwaters inspection process which is a very nice touch. The guitar shipped the very next day and arrived the day after that and is quite happy in its new home. I look forward to logging some serious hours on this guitar. Thank you, Tyler, and thank you Sweetwater.
