Great Pick Up for Steel Drum
I use a Pan Yard solid hoop "C" lead steel pan. 90% of my gigs are outdoors. I have to deal with wind, sand and moisture. This pickup has been great. Easy to use, great sound and affordable price.

Meinl magnetic pickup review
This is a great purchase to help amplify the sound of my new handpan. I highly recommend it!
Magnetic pickup on Rav B Kurd toungue drum
Works! I play with mallets, the Rav is on a dejembe stand with slight padding. This pickup is located underneath the Rav, an inch or so from the rim, at a place between the bottom and next left hand base toungue. I'm plugged in from there to either a florescent shimmer pedal, or a fender passport mini amp. Like it so far.

Meinl, you should hang your head in shame
Bought this as a replacement to the DIY pickup I built in an afternoon out of $11 worth of parts easily sourced on the internet. Long story short...i'll be continuing to use my $11 diy pick up.

Before I get into the cons, I'll deal with the pros. Excuse me, pro...singular. It is magnetic and mounts easily.

Cons are vast and many. Most notable the extremely low output, noisy/scratchy volume control, and an ever present hum similar to that of a poor quality single coil pickup that's not properly grounded. Overall the pickup seems quite underbuilt/cheaply built. I'd have big reservations about gigging with this or making it part of a touring rig.

To make this pickup usable expect to tinker with plenty of signal processing.
