Take Control of The Audial Spectrum

Shure’s SE846 line of earphones are a hit with music creators and audiophiles alike, and their second iteration promises to provide the same stunning audial clarity with some desirable upgrades. SE846 G2 earphones deliver 4-driver sound that can easily be personalized with the help of four different filter options. When it comes to monitoring, you’ll be able to swap out your filters for monitoring at a variety of different frequency levels that best meet your needs. Similarly, second-generation units feature a wider selection of interchangeable foam sleeves to create a noise-isolating fit in any ear. Whether you’re a staunch audiophile in search of crystal-clear playback or a choosy music producer looking to optimize every frequency in your mix, a pair of SE846 Gen 2 earphones from Sweetwater is your go-to move.

Stunning 4-driver sound projection

The SE846 G2 stays on par with its predecessor with the same 4-driver sound system. With this impressive array, you’ll experience full-spectrum sound with a wide sonic range, as well as an output that provides crystal-clear details. Using the SE846 in a studio setting is a cinch for mixing and mastering your projects — you’ll get all the sounds you need to be monitoring at a level that makes for easy fine-tuning.

Seamless frequency swapping

A collection of four different frequency filters will allow you to easily switch between a variety of sound profiles. These removable filters include balanced, warm, bright, and extended options, each of which have their own respective frequency range. If you’re worried about the mix of your bass notes, no problem: swap to a lower frequency filter to hear amplified detail. Do you think your high range could use fine-tuning? That’s easy: move to a brighter filter for crisp monitoring. No matter which end of the sonic spectrum you need to dial in, the SE846 delivers a detailed output that’s easy to weave between in seconds.

What’s new with Gen 2?

SE846 Gen 2 earphones surpass their first-generation counterpart with the inclusion of personalization options, accessories, and most importantly, an enhanced driver setup. A new sound signature filter is included, lending you four separate sound profiles rather than three. This “extended” nozzle filter allows for a more precise frequency response to produce an output that has more noticeable detail. For accessibility, the SE846 Gen 2 comes complete with a larger selection of foam sleeves, providing for the perfect fit in any ear canal. When paired with a selection of three different colors, SE846 G2 earphones provide the perfect mix of personalization and sound quality that exceeds all expectations.

After a few months with the Sensaphonics® custom ear sleeves I have my holy grail of personal high fidelity

I have been using Sennheiser IE900 for a year and I couldn't get them to fit my ears properly and they would tease me when I pressed them in my fingers and I could hear how they could sound, if I had a proper fit. Unfortunately, no one makes custom sleeves for Sennheiser (? IDK) So I bought the top of the line Shure SE846g2 and the stock sleeves that came with them were better than the Sennheiser and it was pretty good, but, again, I could tell that they were better when I pushed them in with my fingers, so I got a pair of custom sleeves from Sensaphonics and, luckily for me, I live 20 minutes away from Musicians Hearing Solutions in Los Angeles and was able to get Julie Glick, the audiologist to the stars, with 27 years of experience, to take impressions of my ears and ordered the full shell option for the most secure fit. The improvement to the sound quality is unbelievable. I can hardly believe what I am hearing in songs that I have listened to for 50-60 years. It is a new era of sound blissfulness that I didn't think I could ever get to. The Neve RNHP headphone amplifier also is superb and is an important part of the system, not that they don't sound great plugged into my phone, because they do sound really good, but the Neve leaves the phone behind however. After making many incremental improvements over the years, I can finally relax and know that I am getting all of the music in every detail, effortlessly. It is new level of contentment and satisfaction, which, as everyone knows, I generally can't get no satisfaction. I can recommend these unqualifiedly to anyone who is an audiophile. Sweetwater made it possible for me get them with their financing deal, which I can afford, which I couldn't otherwise afford to buy them right now. The payment is less than I spend on the streaming services that I use (Qobuz and YouTube music) and it is the best investment I ever made on my personal listening equipment. I can't say enough good things about this setup or Sweetwater. It is my Christmas present to myself and it's the culmination of 30 years of incremental improvements with different headphones (Sony MDR-CD3000, Sony MDR-SA5000, Sennheiser HD800S, Sennheiser IE900 and now, the Shure SE846 GEN 2) the SA5000 were very disappointing and were a step down from the CD3000's. Going from the Sennheiser IE900 to the Shure SE846 was like going from consumer/prosumer to professional level, especially with the custom sleeves. Save yourself a lot of time and get right to it. Neve RNHP, Shure SE846 GEN 2 and the Sensaphonics sleeves are guaranteed to satisfy the most staunch audiophile.

After spending some time with them I am even more impressed!

As I said, they sounded better than the Sennheiser IE900 with the stock, "fits some people's ears" sleeves that came with them. I just got the Sensaphonics custom sleeves (it took about a month) and I am very happy with the fit and improved sound quality (more bass and details) and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to get the best sound possible. They block outside noise without active noise canceling and no one can hear what you are listening to, either. I am lucky to live 20 minutes away from Musicians Hearing Solutions in Beverly Hills, CA and the very capable Julie Glick told me about my options and took the impression of my ears, which came out perfectly on the first attempt

Amazing details and all frequencies equally represented

I didn't think that anything would be as good or better than the Sennheiser IE900, but I have been having a hard time getting them to seal in my ears and custom ear impressions are not available for Sennheiser. Because of the availability of custom fit for Shure, I chose the top of the line Shure SE846G2 and just the stock tips are better than the Sennheiser, but I am going to spend the extra money and invest in my hearing and have custom adapters made by Sensaphonics. I am impressed by the sound quality with just the tips that came with it and can hardly wait to get the proper ones.
